Where do I go when I dream? It must be greater than my mind because even when I lucid dream I find that I can't control everything. I am within something.

Our minds are the terminals with which we interface with the divine consciousness underpinning the material universe: God. When you dream you are more fully accessing the mind of God.

Your logic is a non-sequitur. You can be within your mind without being able to control everything. Right now you can observe that you cant control your own thoughts.
In fact, it is completely absurd to even conceive of the idea of the mind controlling itself. Your concept of self seems all fuarrrked up; you may have schizophrenia

what? why do people use heroin if they can just choose to make their mind experience the same euphoria without buying anything?

>even when I lucid dream I find that I can't control everything.
Your unconscious mind simply has more power than you understand. Consciousness thought is only a fraction of the operations your brain is performing at any given moment. It's hard enough to override unconscious thought when you're awake, how much harder must it be during sleep?

Because meditation takes some commitment and it isn't a product with a brand and marketing. The idea that you can just choose to feel joy without trading anything for it is reality, but offends the sensibilities of most people and seems obviously false to them. The idea of a Faustian bargain with a life-destroying object that costs a lot of money is a more believable narrative.

What you intuit as 'I' is like a shadow puppet being projected by the dream. It tells a story about a person that controls things, but that's all an abstraction; the real underlying 'you' is the dream itself, and any 'control' the puppet seems to have is not actually control but rather part of the story. This is also true while awake, but especially true while dreaming. Have you ever noticed that while you are dreaming your cognitive abilities are greatly diminished? Or that you will sometimes do very uncharacteristic things you would not choose to do while awake? The character playing your ego is a smaller piece of yourself there.

The thought that if we are able to wholly control the dream it means the dream is from within the mind would be jumping to conclusions. The only conclusion that can be drawn is the dream is a space that is modulated by will and intent. Or, you were dragged into the holodeck while unconscious... it is not your mind.
Also I generally have yet to find something that cannot be modified in a dream, but constants are a different thing. I'm not a competent oneironaut, but when I am lucid I have changed scenery, individuals, my own interactive mode, and the behavior of the space itself. That said there are things that will always be constant, the details, such as not adhering exactly to physical law, dissolution of locality, lack of reliance or difference in of mathematical properties, stuff like that. Also, I have not been successful in so much as touching without consent any entity that I perceived as independent from myself or the dream, who have demonstrated at minimum similar ability as myself. That may be on me, but hopefully someday I can get confirmation by successfully communicating information that has not transmitted physically. Anyways these constants the dream space operate under are more interesting to me than how well we can individually bend the dream.
My hypothesis is standard fare, astral realm or -like place that does not rely on the spacial-temporal properties of our material life... but is yet intersected by consciousness, a thing that may exist more in that psychic realm than the familiar material.

the blissful state is second or third jhana state from what I remember
I have been meditating for years, and sometimes for hours, and I am not quite sure if I ever actually entered this state
although I have to admit, that during the period when I would meditate 1 to 2 hours a day, I would enter this bizzare headspace I can describe as "amplification of free will". Basically, all the thoughts and emotions I would usually be immersed in on a daily basis, would acquire character of phenomena that is just happening like breath or heartbeat or sneezing. When my relation to these thoughts, ideas etc. became this on actual (not intellectual) level, then it was one of the most revolutionary feelings/states I have ever felt, comparable maybe only to rare feelings on psychedelics like shrooms.
Right now I am not in this state, and I only know it intellectually know. You probably too, so it does not sound too crazy. But when you enter this state in reality, there is this state of absolute liberating freedom to do almost anything. Thoughts and feelings start to appear kind of like chat-gpt generated programs that follow causal chain in the background. It's like your brain is talking something in the background but you can somewhat ignore it and take decisions outside of this. It feels like you are using a different part of the brain now. It feels a bit bizzare because I have always assumed you cannot change mode of perception, installed in our brains for thousands of generations, just by sitting in meditation. But then I realized that probably our current state of perceiving/counciousness is vastly different from the consciousness of previous generations even 100 years ago... we just assume everyone had the same experience as we do in order to be able to relate to others. Or perhaps just family - mom, dad, children, cousings, uncles etc. have same/similar lenses through which they see the world, while others have it different. So if it is not set in stone, then it is no wonder you can change it simply by meditating for a year or a few months.

I have had this too, also from meditation. Usually I'm dominated by anxiety avoidance and feelings of mental exhaustion, but for one week I was above it all and no resistance I met was enough to dissuade me from doing what needed to be done. I really want it back but even though I'm still meditating it has yet to come again.

Yeah you're just within your mind, but at the same time it's like in hyperspace because entities not native to your mind van visit I am absolutely sure. Like there is a house with your name on it in hyperspace and you go through the door and those are your dreams, but it's hard to figure out how to actually get out the door, like it's made to look like it's just a wall, but they keep getting in easy peasy. Know what I'm putting down hombre?

its likely thats the effects of dissolving the ego, and due to the soykaf cock balls ton of stimuli and programs we are exposed to it is usually only after a "blocker", in this case meditation the ego loses control and after "blockers" are removed if the idle state is trained to have the ego then it will come back.
