How do I stop sleeping so much?
Recently, (past few weeks), I have been sleeping way, way too much. I go to sleep at night, wake up, do stuff for two hours, then go to sleep for the rest of the day. Then, when I wake up at sunset, I do stuff again for two hours and then fall asleep for the rest of the night. And then the cycle repeats.
The two biggest issues are that I have no time whatsoever to get anything done, and secondly my body is getting very weak because I never have time to exercise.
At first it was actually nice sleeping, because it was comfy, but now it's actually painful. All I ever get to look at is the ceiling or wall, or my blanket. And my body aches from being in the same position for days on end.
I've tried things like caffeine but they do nothing for me, and I'm not willing to do any illegal drugs. I've tried to just, stay up, too. But either I become so sleepy that I cannot function, (no energy for social skills or basic tasks, no complex thought processes), or I just fall asleep doing what Im trying to do.
It's a very big problem because finals are coming up and I don't have the time to be sleeping this much!
What can I do?

If you are literally sleeping 20 hours a day and can't stop, you have a sleep disorder, see a doctor

It's time to go and see a doc! It's hard to say what exactly causes this, but this is not normal. You should get your blood work done (esp. thyroid tests and tests for anemia). Also, be sure to tell your doc if you have traveled abroad, since there are certain exotic diseases that can cause similar symptoms. There are also some neurological diseases that can cause excessive sleeping like idiopathic hypersomnia (which is a kind of "meme" diagnosis that's used when you do not fully qualify for narcolepsy diagnosis) or Kleine–Levin syndrome. The benefit of getting idiopathic hypersomnia diagnosis is that you can legally get drugs (probably modafinil?). Also, Lyme disease aka Lyme borreliosis can also cause hypersomnia: https://doi.org/10.1007/s11818-010-0455-z
I'm not posting this to frighten you, but you really need to go and see a doc.

Echoing other lains, go see a doctor.

You might be deficient in some basic things like vitamin D or iron. Sure, go see a doc for some basic blood work (which will often not include vitamin D levels) or some exotic disease (which is unlikely if you haven't left the house anyway) but if none of it works out, fix your diet, sleep schedule, some basic exercise, doesn't need to take long as long as it's frequent enough. Do things that heal or avoid inflamation and depression. Coffeine and aderal are false promises of not having to pay your toll.

Jesus, and I thought me spending half the day sleeping was bad. Are you sure that's not some kind of sleeping disorder? Maybe you should go see a doctor. (Genuine question btw, is healthcare expensive where you're from?)

A chrysalis of a wonderful creature is growing inside you. Wait until it hatches from the cocoon and your soul will fly away with it!

i have the same problem as you, pretty much. i was expecting there to be some sort of solution that didn't involve me going to a doctor but yeah. i guess sleeping this much isnt normal and it shows signs of a sleep disorder. it's so fuarrrking unpleasurable because i've always had nightmares and i sleep so fuarrrking much im guaranteed to have a nightmare nearly daily. even when i do sleep it doesn't feel like im getting any rest and i always need more. hope you find a solution lain
