Deliberately attempting to hallucinate and suceeding?

Tyrell Wellick · 2023-04-10 02:25
So, yesterday when I was in bed I was thinking about this one fantasy that I had and thought how nice it would be to hear her voice, and it just happened, very vividly I could hear it, to the point where it kind of startled me because I didn't really expect it to work.. Anyone else had similar experiences?
Hong, Guil Dong · 2023-04-10 03:05
>>6162 I wouldn't recommend going down this path, but a combination of sleep deprivation, lack of eating and excessive work will probably get you there. It's probably much safer to use hallucinogens.
Fred Nurk · 2023-04-10 07:41
I think most people have semi controlled audio hallucinations like this. I certainly do. No drugs nor sleep deprivation nor starvation nor anything required.
Faye Valentine · 2023-04-10 08:04
>>6162 Have you heard about tulpas? Your experience sounds similar. But it's basically self-induced (hopefully) controlled schizophrenia/psychosis. Like imaginary friend but more serious. >https://www.tulpa.info >>6163 >It's probably much safer to use hallucinogens. I agree that using hallucinogens (LSD/'Shrooms) is safer than sleep deprivation or similar.

>>6165 I've wanted a tulpa for so long and I still do. I've only "tried" once or twice over the years. I just can't bring myself to do it. It feels weird, I think. I daydream about having one but I will not actually practice it. I daydream all the time (it's more of a maladaptive daydreaming kind of thing for me). I do it constantly. I've gotten quite decent at it, I guess. All the stories, possibilities. The latest scenario has been going for maybe one month, or maybe several months, I actually never tracked how long a daydream scenario lasts. Some are better than others. After watching a movie I may daydream about it for the remainder of the day and that's it. Current one is me (but in a different body) living a very different life. I constantly keep developing the "story" in my head. Actually I cannot bring myself to do most things so there's that. Now that I think about it I haven't done soykaf for the last 6 months. Ogh well. I want a tulpa, I've thought/hoped of ways one could help/assist me.

>>6165 >I agree that using hallucinogens (LSD/'Shrooms) is safer than sleep deprivation or similar. Ive encountered a number of people who claim to have very long lasting (years, perhaps lifelong) effects from small amounts of ~lsd, everyone I know has been somewhat sleep deprived at some time or another and I dont know any such stories. This seems like a lie that lsd glitterboys tell eachother so they feel good.

>>6167 Sleep deprivation can cause heart palpitations and murmers. You'll experience massive cognitive decline before you hallucinate. Your immune system will be significantly weakened. In terms of immediate effects on the body, sleep deprivation is definitely worse, though you are correct that except for chronic insomniacs these problems aren't long lasting.
Miho Iwakura · 2023-04-13 21:10
>>6162 I think that's just called having an imagination. I can vividly hear a voice I'm imagining if I'm familiar enough with the voice. Sometimes I can hear full songs if I'm familiar enough and I know a few people who claim they can fully hear multi-instrumental music in their head as they compose it
Six · 2023-04-13 22:10
>>6169 >though you are correct that except for chronic insomniacs these problems aren't long lasting. yeah its quite possible this is true. Short term sleep deprivation can be pretty bad, long term though its effects seem pretty minimal at least at common, err, dosages. >>6190 same, and I too can hallucinate such music at will. Though, I do sometimes think there are certain involuntary hallucinations which are more convincing. Its possible the convincingness is by virture of their unexpectedness however, and not their quality.
Terzibashjian · 2023-04-15 01:51
Don't attempt to hallucinate in your natural, sober state. If it really gets started, it won't stop. Drugs will wear off but schizophrenia won't.

Is it possible to become schizophrenic? How do I give myself mild schizophrenia?
Frank Garza · 2023-04-16 03:27
Psychotomimetic glutamate antagonists Ketamine and PCP were observed to produce significant similarities to schizophrenia. Ketamine produces more similar symptoms (hallucinations, withdrawal) without observed permanent effects (other than ketamine tolerance). Both arylcyclohexamines have some(uM) affinity to D2 and as triple reuptake inhibitors. PCP is representative symptomatically, but does appear to cause brain structure changes seen in schizophrenia.[22] Although unconfirmed, Dizocilpine discovered by a team at Merck seems to model both the positive and negative effects in a manner very similar to schizophreniform disorders.

>>6199 I am diagnosed with schizophrenia and it's hell on earth. i wouldn't wish my worst enemy this terrible illness. i mean you could just overdose so long on drugs until you get actually psychotic, but there is literally no reason you should do this. Lain, you wouldn't want cancer or a chronic heart disease on purpose, why would you want this terrible illness?
Roy Batty · 2023-05-02 00:02
>>6199 if you induce schizophrenia it won't stay mild forever. there's ways of doing it, usually you need to have some gene for it meaning someone in your ancestry should have it, but this in and of itself doesn't guarantee anything. there needs to be some type of trauma to trigger it. if you can't find a way to traumatize yourself, I hear psychedelic drugs and heavy pot smoking can trigger it as well in people who are predisposed to it. I might have given myself schizophrenia without meaning to. I was beaten very often as a child and had sexual experiences under the age of 6 so that could be it, but also I got so into horror that games and movies couldn't scare me anymore. I started turning to psychological torture to insight fear, shutting myself in tight spaces with loud music played on repeat in complete darkness for long periods of time. on top of that I've done just about every kind of drug there is and smoked a loooooot of pot in my life. I also got into demonic invocation magic which even if it wasn't real it at least instilled in me the belief in the existence of demons and the drive to seek them out. a combination of all this resulted in me now not only hearing voices but also having intelligent conversations with otherworldly entities that I can physically see. it even got to the point where they were taking me to other worlds which my doctors say they've never seen in any patient before. I got diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder and have faced multiple hospitalizations for it that lasted about a month. I wouldn't say I recommend you try to go down this path but I do feel like I've tapped into a piece of reality that others are blind to and feel like a shaman sent to this earth to teach others about interdimensional travel. on top of this borderline megalomania many of the entities I interact with are nice to me and some even deter me from sin which is a nice bonus. the guy above me seems to hate it but as for me I even hate taking my medication because I feel like it blinds me. I absolutely love my illness even though often it results in very terrifying and sometimes physically painful experiences. I'd say weigh out the pros and cons and if you really want to go down this path take some of the steps I've taken.

Leto Atreides I · 2023-05-08 10:20
>>6162 I wouldn't recommend it's just not worth it, there's some boxes once you open them it's hard to close them. Hearing voices isn't all what it's cracked to be. It's like having open channel of communication in you that's open. That opening can be exploited by either the good or the bad from your point of view. You wouldn't want a walkie talkie that anyone can speak to. And even if you wanted to the ways to get there if you're not predisposed to it like >>6241 said can be painful. >>6165 >>6166 Having a Tulpa is a life long commitment and unless you're a saint it's not something to even come about lightly. People make mistakes and and can fail and hurt other people so think twice before doing that.

>>6253 https://otherworldgates.neocities.org/ Here's a website I made about some of the gatekeepers I found. Posted it to the webring a while back. And I'm still working on how to verbalize these lessons about dimensions. For one, you usually need a guide to find another world. But if you're pointed in a direction, you can go there on your own. It's not any direction within these three dimensions. Impossible to imagine on your own, but once you see it, it makes so much sense. Never eat the fruit of fairies, or the fruits of this world will be nothing to you. Never drink the wine of fairies or sobriety will be painful to you. The jinn and the fairies are very tricky. Try not to thank them, or they will have dominion over you. Don't believe everyone who says he's among the righteous, for they are more skilled in lying than even us. If you can find someone learned in shamanism you will fair a lot better in otherworldly travel. Otherwise you must wander the realms of madness blindly. You can find a spiritual guide, and it's really helpful, but a spirit is no replacement for the guidance of the most high. here's a story I wrote about my descent into madness. It leaves a lot of stuff out, because I was trying to make it entertaining, but if you're interested it might be worth a read. >nb4 plebbit https://www.reddit.com/r/creepypasta/comments/13bm49d/otherworldly/ If you have any more specific questions don't hesitate to ask.

>>6162 I Have had some smiliar experiences that i can share. Though none of them happened while awake i have been able to deliberately dream what i want to, no not like lucide dream, i do not know i am inside a dream until i reach the very end which leads to the dream ending. I have thought oh nice it would be to talk with this girl and do X or Y and being able to do so, in light sleep, then waking up thinking about it and choosing where i want the dream to go and going back to the same place i was and continuing it where i wanted it to go.

I had multiple, even before I started with drugs. My psychologist said it could be due to paranoid schizophrenia and although I have very paranoid and alert personality, and these hallucinations were during episodes of high emotional/psychological/physiological stress I do believe there is more to these episodes than just brain going haywire. 1) I was 11 and we moved to a new house. I went to pee in toilet. I saw 10 papparazzi surrounding the toilet taking pictures of my naked little pecker. I ran to my room crying and pissing my pants. My mother consoled me. 2) I was 15 during my first highschool year. Really depressed and suicidal. Very stressed. Anhedonia and apathy to the verge of walking in on traffic and cars swerving around me. During class of different amplifier classes and their construction (we have specialized HSs here) I remember being transported to the black void like place. 2 red orbs size of my torso touch my chest and back. They are sticky. The start to expand. As they expand they spread my extremities and start to levitate 2 meters off of ground in black void. The gravity of the situation kicks in and my apathy removes. I start to be really fearful and start screaming for help. I start feeling warmth around my heart and gentle calming feeling even though I am scared. I hear the most sincere "I love you" ever. I start to cry. Immediately transported back into classroom. Look around. Nobody noticed anything. Ask teacher for bathroom. Cry my eyes out in wc. 3) 20 years old. High stress in college. Big problems with weed. No money. A lot of rocky situations with my now ex gf. Ask God to show himself because I am on the edge. I need to see him in order for him to help me. I start crying. I ask for 3rd time. In front of my bed I see a big tree with big and wide branches branching out into tiny little ones and leaves. Look down and roots have a lot of roots branching out into tiny roots. Don't know wtf I am looking at. Later realize I saw Tree of Life. Feel joyous and determined into my life choices even though I fuarrrked up. I have a story where aliens tried to kidnap me after I was hacking for few days. Where I heard trumpets in the sky during the 2012 fiasco. My sister had similar stories. Mind you I am not really that religious although I started to believe in God and Jesus a year ago due to demons attacking me on LSD and then Jesus saved me and God looked at me with disgusted look on his face. Oh yea and my moms name is literally "Cherubim" so make of it all you want. Did I get diagnosis of Autism and Paranoid Schizophrenia and Antisocial Personality Disorder? Yea. Did I have dejavus and mind crushing migranes during my teen years that lasted for days? Yea. Were there complications during my birth where I was losing heartrate and they did a C section finding the umbilical cord around my neck (kek wanted to off myself before the life I chosen to hate now)? Ofc Did I get 147 on IQ test at age 11 (my father works in military and had me tested)? Yea Do I have low latent inhibition and I wake up on simple gaze of my gf looking at me while I sleep? Yea. Listen, I know that I am fuarrrked in the head more than anybody, but my brain rewires usual everyday informational inputs and gives a more abstract and symbolic meaning to it. That doesn't mean there is none, or that I made it up. Surely, I can't take my perception as truth (I am more aware of this than most) but I still argue that there is something to this. Something we can't explain right now.

>>6162 only had actual hallucinatory thoughts from drug-induced states, but one time I was drifting in and out of sleep, saw it was close to time to get up for wageslaving, and just kinda let my mind wander, and I heard a little girl say "daddy's home!" I don't live near children, and it wasn't really a dream, closer i guess to hypnogogic state? it was just really fuarrrking weird because I absolutely heard it audibly. I've been attempting to replicate it but haven't had much luck.

Sometimes when I'm in bed I get slightly delusional and believe things like my bed is filled with hundreds of insects, or that there's some slime-like creature on my ceiling dripping down onto me. I don't know if I had actually seen anything or just delude myself into thinking I saw things as an explanation. I usually get out of bed and fear going back because I am absolutely sure it's real. I also very frequently have sleep paralysis, often multiple times a night. I can be trying to sleep over and over again but each time I fall into paralysis, and each time I get more fearful since I can't breath properly and start to hallucinate. Sounds of breathing, feeling like something is crawling on me, a sense that something is in the room. I'm normally lucid so I don't believe it to be me half dreaming.

>>6199 Interestingly enough the book I'm currently reading, The Prayer Machine by Christopher Hodder-Williams, deals with schizophrenia and has a drug which induces psychosis.
William Holtzer · 2024-03-25 18:09
>>6199 It's actually very easy, persistent "drilling" into your core whilst injecting fuzz. Imagine your brain as sparse winter trees. Simply explore and deregulate the spurs on a fundamental level, but also differentiate it from imagination by actualising and emotionalising it. You'll be left with those winter trees and a severe dense brush. Then, for the hallucinations, you must atrophy your senses and rely on their abstraction. Care less about their make up and dissociate further. If you've done this with intent, you'll probably be fine unless you lean too hard into it. People with real schizophrenia have no meta regulating this transformation, and perhaps unconsciously trigger its conditioning with stress or generally slippage. The two parts is because your brain is not a homogeneous thing.
Yu-ichi · 2024-03-25 18:57
>>6162 Anything you make your brain do consciously for long enough, with few exceptions, it will begin doing automatically. You can definitely tap into certain more obscure or unconscious channels and condition the brain to warp your senses. Of course then you have to wonder if you're talking about the past in future tense, what's to say what you see day to day is "base reality" or an even remotely accurate approximation of the absolute. If your mind will distort your sensory input and memory on your request, what else might have happened? What else might that thing be listening to? I wrote more about running "augmented reality" on the brain itself here. https://archive.4plebs.org/x/thread/36929441/#q36942660 That's pretty much all I would say about it. It's something I'd like to revisit, without getting "lost" this time. I wanted to wipe my memory and remake reality in accordance with what had utility and brought me comfort amidst what was otherwise constant torture. That messed with the process perhaps, and I should include this for context. The basic "Tetris Effect" and repetition sort of self hypnosis and reality warping stuff is pretty universal though.

>>6897 I'm the OP. I'm not the lain who asked about the possibility of inducing schizophrenia on yourself, I dont want this. I like to fantasize by myself though, and now I'm a litrle worried, as I notice myself muttering gibberish when I'm alone more often than before. I didn't have any experiences like what I posted in the OP since then. I enjoyed it though, as I do enjoy my usual fantasies. It's a feeling of belonging and acceptance that I am unable to get from anywhere else, it feels safe and comfy. It's not a tulpa I don't think, as it's not that vivid for the most part, but a little similar maybe.

About five years ago, I was really depressed and lonely, and... I was a huge K-on fan. Yui was my waifu, and I would daydream about her ALL the time. Like, no matter where I was, she was with me, almost likekk an imaginary friend. One day, I was in my bed feeling really sad, and I started imagining she was there, her back facing me. It was so real Suddenly, I felt like I wasnt in control. Like the daydreaming was alive, like an hallucination. I tried to make her disapear, but she would'nt. Suddenly, she turns her head towards me saying "what? anything wrong Lainon?" and I kind of freaked out. Like, for that moment it was like a tulpa, she was acting on her own without my input. That's was weird, so I stretched my hand across her body and eventually she dissapeared. Shit was real. I think I accidentally built a tulpa for myself.

Without drugs? Lack of sleep and super focus on a subject might get you there. Maybe spend a week consuming all existing media onn a character subject and avoid sleeping. So that you either hallucinate while awake or when you are sleeping. Might require more than one try.

>>6162 the correct term is poltergeist. tulpas are somewhat a poltergeist also. given the right brain wave you can achieve poltergeist, heck you can even lucid dream "hallucinate" almost any feeling possible. the only difference is that a legitimate schizophrenia is actually a different brainwave than what is widely known, it is somewhat unstable though we're not saying those voices aren't real, in fact we can even say nothing is real. experiences and its shared nature prove the "physical" reality but that does not mean these other forms made by our thoughts are not real. if you manage to take control and manually be able to steer your brainwaves you can achieve it but maybe in a more manual way, some people would prefer it be automatic thoughtform in the form of tulpa which may even feedback loop into degrading mental health though there are some lucky ones who actually improve their mind with such thing. all in all you should try out lucid dreaming and astral projection, it's easier to actually conjure audio-visual-physical interaction however you want that way.

>>6162 This is k8nd of like a tulpa. Us old folks who had tulpas long before even we knew that term, and certainly before you youngins commandeered that word to describe this phenomenon, did not view these entities as distinct and discrete individuals. In a mere decade's time, look how far we have fallen! Maturity is laughing and crying at the same time, it is the absurdity of it all accepted as reality. Let me tell you what a so-called tulpa really is. In your mind is an entire universe. In that is room enough for a soul, and space still to fit even more, infinitely many more - and why would any single entity be rendered as its own data? Is it not more efficient to break things into their parts overlay these parts on top of each other and store ten entities worth of data rather than 1 billion entities worth of data? And further is not the case then humans speak and reason not only discursively but also symbolically and not discursively but also non symbolically? Is this not a hint that humans reason more epistemologically than ontologically, that we might reason terms of function rather than form? Qnd isn't our internal world merely one additional trophic, or perhaps "traffic," layer laid upon the vast universe underneath our physical feet? From the thermodynamic fluctuations of our internal mental processes emerge the structure that you hear. Now this is no mere schizophrenia. Nay, this is a superpower. That entity is real but also unreal. The total irreality is absurdity but also all the more real for the nonsensicality of it all. After all, in the real world, is Bayes' idea not THEOREM, irrefutable mathematical truth? Then why would our spontaneous cognitive incoherencies do anything other than *USE YOUR IMAGINATION*? Verily are the vicissitudes across the volume of our sea of consciousness impersonal but also literally personal, and what we see are the soliton waves and wavelets, and when these often-enough are wavelet-like do we necessarily grant them anthropomorphization. This fluid-like turbulence - if I may, this chaos of mind - is EMOTION. That, like any physical law, is only a metaphysical idea - Newton's laws are meaningless unless coaxed by symbols and functions into real ontological facts. And, any metaphysical idea can be coerced into particular metaphysical concepts - and these display interrelatedness across the cosmos extending behind your puny internal minicosmos, you might call it karma or entanglement. This entity is your so-called "tulpa." It is real, but also fake. It has always been there because it has always been destined to be there, and so it has always been and always been uniquely identified separate from you but also intertwined together with you. So basically you have a spirit girlfriend in your head that sits on the spirit couch, eats spirit chips and lazes around in your spirit house. Your next job is to give her stewardship over a partition of your minicosmos. She will make spirit friends and play spirit simcity with what you give her.
