dying in your nightmares?

Last night I had a horrible nightmare where I died and it left me shaken up and worried. I'm actually scared of sleeping now. >walking out of my apartment in the dead of night, there's this dark greyish hue to everything and the world feels abandoned >take the stairs up to the 10th floor roof, there's an open air hallway, the floor is all wet and moist like it's been raining gently, there is an icy cold breeze >I climb up over the ledge for some reason, clawing my way up the wet tiles, suddenly I'm on top crawling on my hands and knees >before I know it I'm falling off the ledge, what the fuarrrk have I done? Did I jump? >A rush of freezing cold air, my hair and clothes feel like their going to rip off. I realize I'm falling fuarrrk fuarrrk fuarrrk!!! >I'm panicking I can see the darkened street below, there''s nobody down there. I just wish there was someone up here to save me, grab on to me at the last second >The last thing I see is the dark street 10 stories down and I realize nobody's coming to my rescue. My eyes begin to well up with tears! Oh God I'm gonna die! I'm gonna die! I woke up in tears at 4am and I couldn't sleep afterwards. This was a bad nightmare as I've been having the odd suicidal thought float into my head once again although I think I'm managing it well enough. I ended up roaming around in my apartment wondering if I intentionally jumped in the dream or just fell off somehow, why would I even climb up to the ledge anyway? I was too scared to go back to sleep. I don't want to have another bad dream but I don't trust myself to stay awake (I've had recurring thoughts of jumping from the roof of my building over the last day). So I put on some music and tried dancing to ease up a little, with some prayers and coaxing I managed to loosen up and sleep a few hours and in the morning I was fine minus the monster headache. I went up the 10th floor and had no bad thoughts. I just keep telling myself it's just a nightmare. Why do I have dreams like this? Is it common to die in a dream and if so what does it mean? Is my subconscious trying to warn me?

There are some divergent ways to explain dreams, the two most famous are >your brain disposes of soykaf >your brain disposes of soykaf but that soykaf is important stuff that you should note so you get to pick one. Personally i never remember dreams sadly or they are very uninteresting. I don't know how you guys have this detailed or meaningful dreams, i guess it really depends on how much your brain needs to detox. Do you often think about suicide IRL? Even things like hearing someone else talking about it frequently.

I just had a dream where I had to get a dangerous surgery and there was a strong chance I wouldn't make it. They put me under and everything went black, when I came to (still in the dream) I was confused and wasn't sure whether I was in the recovery room or whether I was dying. Eventually I figured out I was recovering but my mind was still loopy from the anesthesia and my body was too weak to get out of bed. When I thought I was dying, no unfinished business came to mind. I just wanted to say goodbye to my mom.

>>6044 >Do you often think about suicide IRL? It used to be a big issue for me but I got help and I've learned to manage those feelings when they come. Recently I've been feeling like throwing myself off the top of my apartment building. Every time I walk past this open area (my apartment is on the roof basically) I think of jumping. It's an issue because if I'm thinking of cutting or using a gun, I'll just take all the sharp stuff or weapons and hide them somewhere so I don't have to see or think about them. The dream was kinda terrifying because I've always been told dreams are our unconscious desires. So in the dream did I jump or fall? Because if I jumped then does that mean I secretly want to kill myself? If it does I should probably call someone again. But when I actually fell in the dream I panicked and instantly regretted it so maybe I don't want it, or maybe its a part of my subconscious kicking in as a counterweight to the suicidal thoughts?

>>6052 well listen, i think there is not really a desire under this dream. In my honest opinion it's just your brain disposing of the strongest thoughts in your mind. But it does not mean that you desire that, it's just that you think about that and it probably hurts, so your brain does this. For example, I recently got my driver license (finally) and I am dreaming about steering a wheel and crashing a lot. I also had some suicidal tendencies, but that probably does not mean that i want to kill myself crashing with my fuarrrking car, it's just that i thought about it a lot and I also had a fear of crashing. I think it's similar for your thing. Now the thing that actually matters is you thinking that this means that you subconsciously desire to kys. It's not, but if you think this it will eventually become true. So stop thinking about it! going to link this short video from a funny brit about dreams >https://vid.puffyan.us/watch?v=XUARNz53w2A

I've died many times in my dreams. Most of the time, I wake up directly afterwards. I can recall a few times specifically: -Was driving at night, swerved willingly off a cliff and into a fall over an expanse of pines in moonlight -Felt my atoms split apart within a collapsing submarine as the water pressure caused the steel walls to crush me -Similar experience as above but with a nuke going off and being in my house's cellar -Having my body pulled through the keyhole of a door and feeling every bit of it -Having someone start accelerating a car faster and faster and I can't get out and then they just swerve off the road and off a mountainside Just random things like this.
