Sleeping with dolls?
Agent Richard Gill · 2023-01-15 22:27
I read today that sleeping with a doll can help with anxiety and sleeplessness. I suffer from really bad insomnia and restlessness in bed and tried everything from therapy to anxiety meds but nothing works so I thought I'd give it a try. Has anyone here tried it? Also what kind of doll works best? Presumably nothing small that can fit in your mouth and choke you out or anything made of hard material.

I sleep with stuffed animals due to anxiety. It helps if the doll/stuffed animal is special like a gift from parents/grandparents or a good friend otherwise it doesnt make much of a difference what kind of doll you get. if your just looking for posture support your probably just better off with a pillow specially designed for that.
The Fin · 2023-01-15 23:08
Don't sleep with anime dolls, that's cringe bro!
But honestly, I wouldn't think it's weird to sleep with a traditional doll. Or better a creepy kind that will give you nightmares.
Insomnia often comes from a lack of discipline. I recommend going all the way to either extreme, take Tylenol PM and pass out early or stay up all night and the next day.
A better subject for this thread would be insomnia so that we can discuss the full scope of remedies.

I get really bad side effects from tylenol so I can't really take it without getting hives all over. Also It doesn't have to be an anime doll and a traditional doll seems kinda creepy and super uncomfortable and will probably keep me awake.

So there's a price to having a proper sleep schedule? Too bad, you have school tomorrow. Get to sleep.

I guess? I say i guess because i like collecting plushies and put them on display in my bedroom. I have two on my bed just chillin next to my pillows. I never really thought about them to help with my sleep, but, rarely, i do take my favorite plush to sleep with. It's a stuffed animal. A blue dog with a stripped blue/white hoodie and yellow ears. An old gift from my neighbor when I was young. It's really comfy.
A long pillow can also do the trick if plushies aren't your style. It's what I usually sleep with. At first it was to try to improve my sleep posture, (tendency to sleep on my chest) but now it's just because its comfy to sleep with.
Undisclosed · 2023-01-16 09:14
I'm not in the situation I need to have a doll or something to help me sleep as I've got a good sleep schedule but if I had to chose I would definitively opt for a dakimakura as it would me more comfy than a doll imho.
Or at least a plush doll maybe.

I used to listen to music to fall asleep, but that doesn't work anymore.
It really helps to have plushies when the thoughts are running in your head, you hug them and it instantly flush the soykaf feelings out to calm down and fall asleep. I have a Totoro plushie that is really cute to hug and it helps me a lot, the touhou fumos seem real cute too

I have trouble sleeping too. I stay up for hours worrying about life, about my future, about how lonely I am. Porn/hentai addiction is a problem too, once I'm done with it I can sleep like a baby but feel a lot of guilt and shame over it and that only worsens the insomnia.
>>5998
I'm too embarrassed to try a dakimakura. I've been thinking of an animal plushie or something.
Roger Pollack · 2023-01-27 11:19
I have one of these, very easy to hug

An easy way to get past the embarrassment of having a dakimakura (aside from not putting your waifu on there like some degenerate) is to think of it as something for back support. Apparently, sleeping on your side while hugging a daki is supposed to train you to keep your back straight in your sleep or something like that. Hell, when I was in high school, I actually got my own mother to buy one for me just by saying "Yeah, it's good for your back."

I have two feet plush Tux, and occasionally it is very comfy to hug him when falling asleep.

I sleep with a gun and a crucifix unironically
I used to have a plush animal pillow that a family member gave me that I used because it was comfortable, I left it at home when I left for Uni and my brother threw it out because he said it was gay (that was like 15 years ago).
Marly Krushkhova · 2023-01-30 17:01
I sleep with a sword and my horde draconically.
Marly Krushkhova · 2023-01-31 09:52
I sleep with a big nekoplush and a big mikuplush and I honestly couldn't imagine sleeping without them.
At this point I have installed a tulpa-like consciousness in my plushes and consider them just about as real as I am. Even the various smaller ones I don't sleep with have a personality. It is important to give each one attention or else they will get lonely.
Sleeping with something you love is nice.
Six · 2023-06-02 10:01
i don't have sleep issues rn but i used to have a green tortoise to sleep with. it has always been difficult for me to tolerate human touch, even my family members', so i hugged my plush instead.
Unspecified · 2023-06-02 14:53
Skimming this thread has convinced me to buy a plushie.
Dox · 2023-06-02 18:49
I bought a big stuffed animal for my gf once and spent a week cuddling it while sleeping before I gave it to her so that it would smell like me for her. It was nice and I missed it after I gave it to her.

I also like to sleep with a small Cross.
CumGuzzler420 · 2023-06-03 13:40
I don't have any plushies, but if I were to get one I'd totally get a blahaj
All hail the shark!

I've been sleeping with a plushie for the last couple of years, very comfy!

Some countries still have them, others don't
Eldon Tyrell · 2023-07-08 04:14
I used to sleep with a small sonic the hedgehog plushie and it helped me feel more comfortable and calm.
nowadays I mostly sleep with a big bear plushie (about maybe half my size? slightly more?) and it's been helping me even more with my sleep quality.
I still take sonic out whenever I leave the house, since he's small enough to not be a nuisance to carry whenever I'll be sleeping somewhere else
I have a ton more plushies around, but my bed isn't very big so I don't bring them with me. they usually just make the bed feel a bit too cramped and they always tend to fall off overnight
Linda Lee · 2023-07-10 15:20
Should you machine wash your plushie before sleeping with it?
Bob Arctor · 2023-07-10 15:58
>>6346
not necessarily, use a special delicate wash bag or hand wash if you need to. Also if you drool in your sleep and get it dirty.
Spike Spiegel · 2023-09-24 11:17
I can't sleep well without hugging anything, I tend to imagine soykafity such as the pillow likes me, it makes me feel safer.
Hitomi · 2023-09-24 21:23
The doll in your OP would set you back quite a bit of cash since it appears to be made of TPE or silicone and has a metal frame with joints inside of it for posing. There are cheaper fabric anime dolls like that though but also a few hundred dollars at least which is kind of a ripoff though i havent had one before so i dont know.
As for whether sleeping with a doll helps I think it only would work if you have an emotional attachment to it. I find holding a big bear plushi can't really relate to anymore no different from holding a fuzzy pillow and helps no more. The comfort isnt there because it's not like a person and it's not like a real animal and im not a little kid or in a culture that supports this mindset of how to see objects so my brain just wont allow me to see the object as having a sort of life to it. Otherwise you would have to go for something that more realistically resembles the presence of an actual person or animal. As in something with some weight to it and ideally also can be warmed somehow. Like I know there are plush animals that are made to hold a microwavable gel heat pad for example. Dolls aside there also are weighted blankets.
Lain has been listening to ASMR videos with soft talking or whispering focused on giving comfort which helps some if the volume is set right level. Headphones get in the way so just use speakers if you can but there are headphones for sleeping but they are a bit iffy sometimes.
Miho Iwakura · 2023-10-01 01:00
I sleep with just a body pillow, honestly the best sleeping device I have, but I want to get one much firmer and a bit fatter. With the doll in the OP, I'm imagining it would be hard like a sex doll. I tend to also listen to girlfriend ASMR while I cuddle my body pillow.
Is it cringe? Yes
Does it help me sleep? fuarrrk yes
Tank · 2023-10-01 09:03
I have 2 dakis, or well 3rd is under construction. Then I have 4 other pillows, 3 blankets and then a plushie. I sleep on a futon.
It's great.

During the cold season, I always sleep with a hot water bottled and hug it like a dakimakura. Helps me sleep at night and keeping me cozy. If you a way to boil water at home, a hot water bottle is a must. picrel I have something like this.
>>6465
Try white/brown noise or classical music. It helps me to sleep through the night.
Case · 2023-12-02 15:30
>>6578
Why would you boil the water? Even in a hot water bottle that is hotter than you need often. If your house has heating of the water system just turning the tap on a kitchen faucet to hot and letting it run a while before filling it up is enough.
Just another Random Lainon · 2023-12-02 18:06
>>6579
Nah, >>6578 have it right. Water tap is not anough hot.
Be carreful when using boiling water cause the bottle may bloat (doubt it will explode) and can be very hot.
Tommy Vercetti · 2023-12-07 10:16
>>6579
As >>6580 as mentioned, warm tap water is not enough. My house has a kettle to boil water on demand.
>>6580
Bloat can be prevent by pouring some cold water in first then pour the boiled water in but don't fill it to the top. Once done, squeeze any air out to remove any bloat.

So either you are too beta being afraid to be seen sleeping with an anime doll or you have a girl to sleep with anyway. But only the truest alphas will sleep with an anime doll and own to it with transcendental levels of don’t care.

one time i found a hedgehog doll in the garbage by side of the road and i picked them up and took with me. unfortunately i put them down at the next event i went to and disappeared while i was there.
that was a long time ago, but i hope they made at least one more person happy.

I sometimes use to sleep with a stuff animal from a big chain toy store I gotten from my Dad as an apology from my Mother's accusation that I lied about eating something that was hers. Yeah, my mom is a psychopath. I named him Cody since he was a toy Siberian Husky that looked really cool amongst the snow with it's fluffy fur, plus it was my favorite Dog breed. I still have the little guy on top of a shelf.
I'm planning to get an anime plush of some character that I love. Might actually help with my insomnia if I slept with it since my life currently is soykaf.

I was going to pass this thread up, but then I realized that I use a second pillow in a similar way. It just feels good to have a pillow or something to hug while you're sleeping. It never struck me as anything unusual.
