Since this week I have acute neck and back pain, so I tried a method of becoming conscious of muscle contractions to relieve them (in addition to conventional exercise).
I tried it again last night while falling despite my bed being an inadequately soft surface. Suddenly one of my arms was doing circular movements that changed spontaneously. I layed on the side and when I felt a compulsion to turn, I had to do it consciously and then let the other arm resume activity. The movements became very fast, strong and unintuitive after some time and seemed to significantly loosen up my frame.
I got up, because the space around my bed is very cramped and the movement continued with both arms and hip movements. I particularly remember a thrust of the arms behind the back. At some point I could direct the movement at various body parts. I quit after 4 hours, because the movement of my neck made me nauseaous.
I don't really know what to make of this. My neck seems a lot more flexible now. I tried searching for info on this, but cannot find anything related. It could be an instinct against muscle contraction or some self-induced fugue state.

I do something similar. It started with learning about tai chi and slack line and robot inverse kinematics and questions like "how do the physics work that allow me to not fall over on a slack line, or even just standing on the ground?", "is it possible move activating only half of a muscle pair ie only bicep not holding in place between bicep and tricep?", "what is the exact path that force travels through to get from my feet into my hands. What muscles and bones do this and can it be done differently? ", "when I pick something up, is there an amount of force I can use where all the weight of the object has been lifted off of what it was resting on, but not enough force that it actually lifts off? Can that same idea apply to the weight of my own body?"
I guess my goal is just good health and mastery of my own body.

I might randomly dump thought of this nature here. Let me know if you're interested in them.
Consider the model where you are not raising and lowering your torso, but allowing the ground to rise up towards you and pushing it back away from you. The earth is a thing you balance on your feet.
