Deja Vu
Jane Doe · 2022-01-26 01:52
God, what a strange surreal phenomenon. I usually have deja vu when I'm daydreaming (or maybe even in dreams). I get close ups of stills of what I see in the future. Not only that, but I get an idea of what I'm listening to and/or thinking about without context.
For example, I was working on an animation on my computer while listening to a podcast. I distinctly remembered hearing a 10 second clip of the podcast and the exact drawing I was working on. I remember being confused by what the hell they were talking about for a day or 2 long before I was in the situation.
When the event happens I sometimes notice immediately. Other times I get the feeling that I remembered it happening afterward. It feels like a glitch in the brain where I miscalculate how far away a memory is. I know it happened 30 minutes ago but it feels like I saw it 2 months ago.
Why do you think this happens? Do we have magic visions into the future that happen by accident? Is it possible to intentionally have deja vu to see the future? Does it happen to you often?

This happens to me often too, i catch myself trying to analyzing the situation afterwords, i call em loops.
I have no idea what it means so far, im working on some foggy theories of what it means, but this gonna take a while to figure out.
It doesnt happen that often nowdays, then again most of my days are totally devoid of action, especially now during winter.
There has to be some sort of pattern or mechanism to it, but i dont know how to get a hold of it.

I thought about that too. I still have it, but it usually involves being in front of my computer. I actually notice it more often when on my computer.
>There has to be some sort of pattern or mechanism to it
I'm starting to think that it's more likely that its an error in your brain miscalculating how long ago you remembered something since it usually happens once you examine the situation after. But sometimes the feeling is just so strong and I believe I actually did see whatever it is before. Especially in the example in the OP. When I actually understood the context of the podcast snippet. It was like an aha moment. I wish I remembered what it was. Since its possible that I saw a clip of that moment before.

>I thought about that too. I still have it, but it usually involves being in front of my computer. I actually notice it more often when on my computer.
I hardly notice it on the machine because i hardly ever have anything noteworthy to remember while cybering.
There is no real appearant pattern otherwise, there are some triggering moments sometimes, but not particluarly special.
>I'm starting to think that it's more likely that its an error in your brain miscalculating how long ago you remembered something since it usually happens once you examine the situation after.
Seems to be a bit too random, dont you think.
In the first instance its too lucid to be an error and secondly i think there should be more to it.
It is too percise a perception of moment and otherwise you might expect more or different types of memory glitches happening.
One time i had a similar feeling but i absolutely knew who was going to call me a just a second later, that was neither a glitch nor accident.
Im not sure how to crack this mystery but there has to be some way to trap this somehow to get more data.

the thing about deja vu is that you can't remember that you experienced something before until you experience it "again".
I think it's a kind of "remembering the present"... a small brain malfunction.
Try this: write down things when you foresee them, with as much detail as you can. When you feel deja vu, try to find in your logs where you remembered it.
I've tried to do this but the thing is that I never actually wrote anything down -- I never had the experience of having a vision of the future. I have dreams sure but they never match.

if I ca ever find it, i have a folder of these. I like the term the other lain used "loops" i think ill use that from now on.
anyway I started taking a picture anytime I encountered a loop to compare details to my memory or my journal.
I also know when I am having a dream that will be a loop, just a feeling, which is how I started keeping track. the craziest one I had I saw programing script on a building and a few days later I walked down a road for the first time and saw some schizo who wrote out his life as if it were a program all over a building
Nobody important · 2022-02-02 13:53
i want to add that i have the same experience although i belive that i mostly experience it in a dream like this lain >>5206. I can often clearly see and hear such a situation before me and i have a memory of thinking about the vision that equals the current situation beforehand
there has been some speculation on the ability for precognition in psychology although my assumption was always that i subconsiously manipulate situations so that when i have a propable vision my mind tries to force me to actualize that situation.
I believe there are limits to what images can be produced or visualized by the mind in different states so being aware of these might help to clear the underlying mechanism of the visions

Your brain is a powerful prediction machine, ancients used to call the imagination the third eye and it was kind of thought of as being able to see through time itself, you can imagine memories from your past and get glimpses into the past through your imagination and you can do the same thing for the future, humans are fairly unique with regards to their ability for abstraction and delayed gratification and id probably say our third eye has something to do with that.
Most people only remember the wild dreams they have not the boring ones, you dream about whatever you experience day to day for a majority of your dreams but we dont remember most of the dreams at work or at home because they are boring and blend in, we dont remember the majority if our days either because we have repetition and routine that makes them all blend into the same thing unless you do something out of the ordinary, so your brain is constantly taking in information and making predictions about what information it will see next and when you dream is sort of like running a neural network backwards to "learn" where it identifies useful memories from useless and then merges the new network with the old while killing any connections that give a negative impact on the networks function.
Thus your basically running simulations in your head where your brain creates the hallucination of consciousness based on the neural network it developed to interpret the world rather than the information coming into the neural network from your senses so your sleep is like the tesla dojo super computer simulating a bunch of different scenarios repeatedly to make sure it always picks the course of action leading to your desired outcome and since your brain can interpret time how it chooses you can simulate a whole day of work in just a few minutes or when your learning to play an instrument you can simulate a whole day worth of play time in just a fews minutes of sleep and then you can play in slow motion to build and correct muscle memory and then speed time up to spend a lot of hours practicing and building that repetition memory which lets you do something without even thinking or being conscious of how you do it.

Imagine your brain like that tesla dojo computer where its simulating some boring highway travel where nothing big is really happening so it has extra simulating power left over and it decides on its own to go and predict what a future advertisement will look like on a semi truck passing by the car based on previous advertisement data from tesla cars then later a tesla is driving and a semi truck with a very close ad drives by that car and the car is then aware of that moment as well as the memory/training data/dream/prediction of the trucks advertisement
This is actually what i believe deja vu is just a crazy powerful prediction and computational machine going to waste so it gets a bit overachivie and starts predicting moments of the future, what you really have to do is spend your waking hours obsessing with lotto numbers and maybe you will get a glimpse of the winning numbers.

Happens to be all the time bro.
I think they’re called precognition and I’ll dream about something and then months in the future that exact situation will happen one to one and I remember it as soon as the situation happens as if it’s fate

so much less productive than like any other response here but when i vividly remember when i was in kindergarten being fully convinced of, and telling my classmates, that when i got deja vu i had "visions of the future" or "future visions" or something (i dont remember the wording, i thought i could tell the future basically lole.)

I had a psychic tell me it was called "the gift"
I told her I didn't believe in all that stuff, but she insisted that it was real. She also wanted to see my life numbers or something, and predicted that I was a seer or something, and that these prophetic dreams were because my purpose is to guide others.

Children often don't understand how taboo it is to talk about these kinds of things. I had a coworker who was extremely Christian, and she said her parents had a dream where heard a voice saying not to board a plane they were about to, and it crashed the next day. She claimed that God communicates in dreams and tells people of the future to help them. Apparently they had gotten several such dream messages that prevented them from sudden death.

Dont really see how random information loops are a gift.
Guess she wasnt going any more specific places, also whats the story here, just sounds like a cool story.
You should have fished for more just to see where to goes, even if she was full of soykaf.
Dream prementions are a common thing, ive heard countless stories, you can have a few odd ones and draw parallels, but not in those cases, however those might be messages from "wherever".

I guess the idea is that it somehow gives you a greater cognition of your environment. Somewhat related, the same feeling I get when I have a premonition dream always indicates something really bad (usually one or multiple people dying around me) when I have the feeling while awake.
Probably the most memorable one was I had the feeling (almost like an aura of cold being dumped over me) and I had a feeling that something bad had just happened. Around 20 minutes later, on my way home I saw someone had committed suicide right outside my house. Time of death was about the same time I had that feeling. This tends to be the pattern: I have that feeling, I brush it off, later find out that something really terrible happened where I am going to be at the exact time I felt the feeling. Its almost like I can feel the emotion resonate through space.
So far none of this negativity has directly impacted me, but always somehow within either a few degrees of closeness, or places I am familiar with. At one point I felt irrationally that had I been able to place the feeling, I might have been able to intervene and save someones life. Who would believe a crazy person saying that he had a premonition and someone needs to intervene? As for the sleeping dreams, they always miss an exact time, even if the place and the people and the conversations are exact, I never recognize it until I have already fallen into the loop.

That one about the suicide is seriously spooky. Sounds like some anime soykaf, dude.
