I had a strange hypnagogic hallucination where instead of actually hallucinating, I believed in a "dream narrative", sometimes you dream something that makes no sense, but you just believe it, like at one point you think, oh no! did I leave the turkey in the oven for too long, so you check and the kitchen is on fire, even though you never put anything in the oven to begin with, but you never really question the dream narrative. I had one while awake, where I genuinely believed everyone's body had rotted. I could sense my parents rotten bodies in their bedroom. I could feel the richest emotion I had ever experienced. I felt pure childlike fear at the thought of being alone in this world. I want that again so badly... the emotion was unreal, and looking around my room with this childlike world view felt so good. I want to go back to that. Sometimes I get this dreamy worldview in everyday life and it feels so good to be a child again. It brings back a literal train of memories, one after the other. The memories are possibly the best part, after the wonder of seeing the world like a child again.
In these states I become more aware of my environment and also stop overthinking, taking everything at face value. Any level of anxiety is impossible and I feel at peace, I'm aware that I'm not the center of the world, but that concept is gone when I'm in this state, I become the center of the world again and it's much less nihilistic, feels like all concepts I've ever learnt have been thrown out the window, no geography, no high school physics, factory reset back to the child brain. It's not that I've forgotten, more like repressed, I can retrieve anything if I think about it but I try not to, I try to hold onto this dream like state for as long as possible.
