I've noticed that right when I wake up I have my most creative thoughts. If I go to sleep with some work problem on my mind, as soon as I wake up and am having that first cup of coffee, I suddenly have these incredibly creative solutions just dawn on me out of the blue. This happens consistently, to the point that I have worked it into my daily routine. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a name for it, or a reason why it happens? I was thinking that my dreams seem to be a world of compete irrationality... one in which causality does not exist (which actually explains why I usually believe all the weird stuff in my dream, and rarely do I realize that the dream is a dream until I remember the causal, logical world).... maybe my mind can find shortcuts to solutions because it is not hindered by reason guiding me logically from one thought to the next.... not sure if that makes any sense

Your robotic anglo language doesn't have a proverb for that? I thought every language had.

>>4614 Not that I know of. What's yours?

>>4614 We do have "sleep on it" but that doesnt really capture what OP is saying but might be closest thing. If you give someone a tough decision youl say "Why dont you sleep on it" for example but thats less a proverb and more a courtesy to give the person time. Its less about actually implying when they wake up they will have an answer. >>4613 No not at all in fact unless its like what im saying I was surprised other languages do have proverbs for this like above poster implied. I actually get most creative before going to bed and when I wake up I usually dont care about any of it/forgot it all and its frustrating. I think the closest thing I have to your saying is sometimes after a shower il figure out something bothering me.

>>4613 I think everyone has this, even extremely ignorant people, just the nature of sleep, it cleans up and organizes your brain vomit allowing you to process the data from the previous day

>>4670 I dont often though and its because it also cleans up me even caring about what I was working on/thinking about the next day. I mean yes if I sleep the next day I will be able to approach whatever it was with a less tunnel vision fresh perspective. But im not getting new ideas from my fresh brain thinking about it when I wake up, im getting new ideas often far later in the day from actually working on whatever it is or thinking about whatever it is from a new angle.

There are some theories out there that sleep might be a way for the brain to organize your thoughts and memories from your day, so maybe you find solutions to your problems not because your brain is doing the thinking "in the background" while sleeping, but rather when you're thinking after waking up, useful memories and knowledge are a lot more easy to access, and therefore it's easier to mentally manipulate them.
