Do you think there is one? If yes, do you think it is obvious or is it necessary to be knowledgeable about dream interpretation to understand its meaning correctly? Where does the meaning come from, is it some higher or supernatural entity like a god or your own subconscious trying to tell you something? Do lucid dreams dilute the meaning of a dream?
I think this is a very interesting question since dreams are obviously quite curious and singular in a strange way, they fascinate most of us and we can't really explain where they are coming from.
I often hope that my dreams are a message of some sort but in many cases I don't understand it so maybe it's all just nonsense my brain makes up from situations I experienced while being awake. i can say for sure that my dreams taught me a lot about my relationships with other people and how to behave in certain situations, living through a simulation while being asleep can sometimes be eyeopening and helped me understand more about myself and the personality of others, even though I already spent a lot of time thinking about the same things while being awake. Dreams definitely serve me as a source of inspiration and even though they might just originate from my own mind they are certainly very valuable to me.

I think there is something to learn from dreams, but I'm not yet sure what it could be. But as for your question, I think there is some deeper meaning, but we cannot explain it (yet).

Dreams are just random, but since they're based on your own brain, they can contain things you fear, want, etc. Like I have a lot of dreams about games, dating cute people, and being sent back to high school, and I know that's because I like playing games, am a lonely bastard, and am still mentally stuck in high school despite graduating over 10 years ago.

i was about to direct a rant at you so long OP that I couldnt post it cause it was gonna hit the character limit. Its not just this one by far but every day I become increasingly enraged and absolutely unhinged when I see a thread that clearly is intended to be "what do you think about x" phrased as "is x real". Just think for a second if you were to make two threads off that question one where its "talk about how dreams have no meaning" vs "talk about the meaning of dreams", where in the everloving fuarrrk would that first one go without including someone who thinks they are describing how dreams have no meaning with soykaf like "dreams r just ur brains way of refreshing itself and replenishing serotonin" and not realizing how that still implies a meaning regarding why dreams are what does that or are the effect of it.
Why cant I just ignore the first part? Because it always happens where regardless of how asinine the conversation train of "no x is not real" (dream meaning in this case) someone will feel obligated because you asked to explain why x is real, attracting some pseudo labcoat soykafhead to say "no its not your an idiot" and lead us down that hell where there really isnt any real discourse to be had. Is any of this as serious as im making it out to be, no. But I have spent so long typing this in various forms that at this point im in too deep and must post it.

i like to think dreams are indicative of consciousness being more than just cells interacting with each other. science can't really explain them and their purpose, which gives me enough wiggle room to have faith that they mean something and show we're not just flesh and bone

I think dream is just an arrangement and review of the memory which experienced from real life.
All things are coming from real life. If I saw some weired things in dream, thats mishmash memory or shape from memory.
Our brain can be good at react some situation through dreaming, we can make some situation with memories or review situation from real life(like ptsd). cause we get undergo early in dream. not in real. But there's exception like death. We can't imagine death or immediately happening after dying.
Those are just my think. And dreams are gonna be good subject to think.

its just random bullshit. most of the time its just random things you think about or encounter throughout the day. it can be the dumbest crap, like for example you found 3.23$ in your pocket, so you have a dream and in the dream there is something that involves the number 3.23.
sometimes they mean more, but not because of a divine being sending you messages, its just things deeper in your conscious that are more meaningful.
for example, i once had my doubts about a person, and hsd difficulty trusting them. they were an alchoholic. because of this i dreamt numerous times that i was in the car with them while they got drunk, and they crashed the car and we died. because i had difficulty trusting them, i had a dream they kidnapped me. at the same time i loved them so i had a dream they kidnapped me and took me to a beauyiful blue house, which i think represented that i did have isues trusting them but still wanted to spend my life with them.
once knew a girl who had a dream she was carrying a child while chading her boyfriend, when her knees grew weak and she couldnt move anymore because the weight of the child was so heavy. stemmed from her fear of motherhood and how she didnt think she was ready for such a responsibility.
another weird thing i cant explain is when people will invent dream partners. ive heard many people talk about dreaming of a romantic partner on numerous occasions over years, and ive done it myself. i was unable to see their face, but somehow i intuitively knew it was them any time i dreamt of them. this only happened over a period of a few weeks for me. i think i dreamt of them to cope with lonliness and longing for someone in my life. i think its common that people cant see their face because the human brain cant invent knew faces, and we want this to be a totally unique person so instead of inserting a face of someone weve seen we just dont see one at all.
see, it can mean deeper things. i dont think there is really a very proper way to interpret these things, its about looking and analyzing yourself and trying to figure out what your mind was trying to tell you. the better you know yourself, the more honest you can be with yourself, the better youll understand your dreams.

I think where the meaning in dreaming comes from is when the brain is not filtering information. All internal and external stimuli is filtered to create our perception of reality. Like we get just the coffee and not the grounds but the grounds are still there. and when we dream all internal stimuli is unfiltered everything that you probably had deep deep in your subconcious is presented to you and that can come with meanings that you deep down knew but not consciously. i think dreaming in essence is the way that the subconscious mind brings information to the conscious.
but thats just my hypothesis
also i lucid dream and its more like getting rid of the delirium for me but the experiance is still there. nobody can truely "control" the dream to every aspect they want (at least from what i know). its more like being able to influence whats happening slightly by will of mind but there is still a lot of true dreaming that happens its not just entering a sandbox mode. for me at least.

The meaning of dreams exists and is the reflection of the subconscious, a mirror. Take inspiration from them. It's the higher self calling out.
There's no point in following the meaning from external dream interpreters. You dreams are your catalyst, a pantheon of internal meaning. Some signifiers are common across the population of a certain area, others are personal to the dreamer.
