Give me all of your knowledge on astral projection.
SHODAN · 2021-03-10 07:32
I've had it by accident a few times. Kinda creepy looking at your body on the bed while everything is otherwise vivid and real. Luckily it didn't last for long before I was teleported back into my body.
Anonymous · 2021-03-10 08:24
Well, I don't really have that much knowledge on it, but I do have something I always used to sort of practice when I would sit around and smoke a bunch of weed, since it makes you imagination so vivid.
From your sitting body, imagine, step by step, inch by inch, a ghostly form of yourself standing up out of your body, and walking a certain distance. And I don't mean let your mind jump immediately to where you are thinking of...Really focus, and imagine the hairs of the carpet, the texture of the walls, the sensation of the accurate length of a step you would take when walking. Every time your mind strays, and you lose focus or your thoughts jump around, start over. See how far you can walk inside your ghost-form. You get better and better at it.
One time I was at a friends house, smoking weed on the porch where we usually hung out. We were both completely fuarrrking toasted, and were sitting in silence with our eyes closed listening to music like we often did. I managed to stand up, and step by step, walk down his sidewalk, as if I were really doing it...At a normal pace, taking normal steps, looking at the monkeygrass lining the sidewalk, seeing my distance from the cars parked on the street change at a realistic pace, watching my arms sway at their sides appropriately. I walked maybe a block or two through his neighborhood, which I was so familiar with I could traverse it in my sleep. It took a few tries, of course - at first I would stand up in my ghost-form, and my mind would jump to something random, like a street sign I saw at the end of the block, or his dog barking, or the thought of myself inside my car. But every time, I'd start over, and make myself rise from my physical body once again and walk. It was a very powerful experience, and a true test of focus.

That's the thing...It is, in a sense, just your imagination. But you are controlling your imagination in a very strict fashion, with focus, and after a while, I was completely engulfed in the walk I was taking and was completely disconnected from the actual world.

What are electrical impulses besides playful fluctuations of mind? You need to let go of the materialist view of the universe if you want to understand more. Mind, matter and energy are not distinct from each other.
There is no fundamental difference between a dream world, an astral world and the physical world. The only difference is in resolution and stability.
If you can teleport in a dream, then you can do it in the astral, and a highly realized mahasiddha can even do it in the physical world.

I just practice Dzogchen, which led to a few accidental astral projections, so I can't tell you much. Though I would recommend at least a year of basic meditation practice combined with a healthy lifestyle before you even attempt it. You might attract the attention of certain types of entities, so you want to have a strong and a stable mind for your own protection.

Since these aren't astral descriptions, it is delusion based mental imaginations and projection. seeing your physical body there is nothing other than imagining physically. half sleeping while imagining is called hallucination/imagining.

Nah, it's not like a dream state at all. It's completely lucid, as if in real life. If that is delusion, then so is real life. Plus, I've met with other people there with whom I later confirmed my encounters. What are the chances of such an encounter, if it's based on random hallucinations? Less than one in a trillion, at least, assuming equivalent timing, ordering of mental events and both parties perceiving each other with perfect clarity.

It happened with me just a single time, i went to sleep a lot more relaxed than usual for some reason, and i almost slept right away, but instead of falling to sleep, i just very slowly start to come out of my body, was a very strange moment, because my room was in total dark, but when i came out of, i could see my room in this blueish dim light.
I remembered what one of my friends said that if you look at your body, you get scared and goes in again, and that was exacly what i did, and going inside my body was a strange too, almost instanly i was glued again to my normal vision inside my head (you can actually feel the pulling sensation for a moment), and i opened my eyes and i was in my room again in total darkness, with a strong tingling sensation on both of my arms.
Jim Hilger · 2021-11-24 12:31
When I was maybe 13 years old, I, like a lot of people my age at the time, got into astral projecting. My dad believed astral projection was a real thing and told me he did it once. He meant it as a cautionary tale because he was extremely religious (Christianity) and believed astral projection was dangerous and could invite demons to abuse you. I don't know whether or not his story about astral projecting was just something he made up to scare me away from trying it or if he really believed he had astral projected (found out after his death that he did acid and shrooms a lot before I was born, so it's conceivable his so-called projection was just him tripping balls).
Whatever the case, I spent some time reading those early 2000s style occult websites with spinning gifs of pentagrams and differing advice on how to astral project. The guide I tried following the most l, from what I remember, was:
1. Lie down flat on your back
2. Make sure nothing is on or above your body (no blankets)
3. From head to toe, individually relax each part of your body.
4. Repeat step 3 as many times as needed until a full state of relaxation is reach.
5. Visualize your body
6. Image sitting up slightly
7. Repeat 5 and 6 until you can feel your body and spirit separate slightly.
8. Continue doing this sitting up a little more each time.
And eventually you'd sit up out of your body and be free to do astral realm stuff. Of course, it's all nonsense and I didn't succeed after months, maybe a couple years, of trying. But I still use that relaxation technique to relax at night.

I've had spontaneous sleep paralysis turned into out of body experiences all my life. It's not nonsense. I'm talking once or twice a month minimum for all my life, involuntarily.
Those steps are technically OK, but if I tried doing them I would find them too annoying and restrictive, and would probably end up with back pain or something. But the principle is alright.
1. Let your body fall asleep.
2. Keep your awareness awake.
3. Imagine an imaginary body.
4. Move awareness into that imaginary body.
Not falling asleep is the hardest IMO, but that's the gist of it. The web is full of techniques and theory you can look up if you're interested in it.
Fred Nurk · 2021-12-04 01:08
>>5105
I saw a Reddit post once that advised doing it while sitting, with your back and head fully supported, but with your upper body vertical so that it would be harder for your body to go into "oh, it's time to sleep then" mode.
While sitting with your closed eyes in a position in which your body is able to fall asleep, imagine your point of view as if you were standing in the room, a few meters from were you are sitting.
Not only imagine visually in your mind's eye, but also try to convince your mind and feel the walls and objects are there, as if you could reach out and touch them (if you have ever tried to navigate your home with your eyes closed, you'll know what I mean). Feel the floor under your feet, the sources of light.
You will have realised by now the key is to replace your physical sensory input with imaginary input.
That's it. Maintain that imaginary point of view while disregarding your sitting body until you "pop" out. Don't check periodically to see if you have. Simply ignore your body and focus fully on your imagination.

I used to believe in that when i was 14, I remember listening to guided meditations that would supposedly make you astral project, there are plenty of those on youtube, although i've never succeeded, I also tried listening to binaural beats and frequencies while trying to astral project to no avail.
I also remember reading that there was a plane in which you could get stuck where time passed so slowly it could feel like years before you wake up, and where you would potentially get tormented by malicious entities or something

I read franz bardon's initiation into hermetics long ago, out of body travel is only discussed much later because it is dangerous, if someone touches you while you are not present in your body you might die, there is also a silver cord attached to you which can be severed
This stuff takes time, decades and lifetimes
Chani · 2024-01-13 16:35

Sure why not.
There's no such thing as 'astral projection' because astral projection is too vague of a term. Properly this term can cover multiple things all at once from;
>Trance states
>Path working
>Lucid dreaming
>Exploring your world in a mind made body
>Launching your consciousness into alternative planes of existence/universes.
The problem here is going to be apparent to anyone genuinely interested in parapsychology- it's covering too many things all at once. Someone can talk about "astral projecting" and wind up displaying no useful information because it may very well have been a highly personal dream state.
Most of the time however when people ask or talk about astral projection, they're talking about throwing a mind made body around.
This is real, yes.

I'm gonna treat all your questions as such under the idea you're asking about ejecting your consciousness somewhere 'real' of your choosing.
>How to do it
You need to enter into a controlled near death experience. I've written up a few documents on how to do this that 4chan kids have taken up and tried presenting as "reality shifting" (a term I hate).
The basic concept is that you enter into a meditative state, which allows you to access an altered state of mind which is analogous to the same mindstate we have when we fall asleep or when we die. These two are ultimately the same. You bypass the "dream" portion and launch your brain out wherever the hell you want.
It's both extremely easy and also very taxing
>The precautions to take
It's hard on your body. If you want to go gallivanting around time and space, try getting better at normal meditation first. It'll help keep you from wearing your body out- simultaneously it makes your ability stronger.
If you're going to be like almost everyone else I've met and tried to teach this to, and avoid doing that, then atleast take regular breaks between exploration.
Don't bother the locals if they can see you.
And don't worry about the things you see that may be trying to stop you. They can't actually do anything. I suspect they're just there for the same reason you have antibodies in your blood. Your only danger with them is listening to what they say or taking them too seriously.
>How far does it go
Farther than anyone could imagine.
>How does it works
Refer to my first answer.
The theoretical metaphysics behind this though is ultimately that there's levels of "real" and "unreal".
All reality can be surmised to be ultimately unreal. This is because everything we experience is interpreted by our minds.
But if we want to get more technical, we can say that reality comprises of two basic components:
*Physical phenomenon
*Mental phenomenon
This can be applied also to the variety of sentient beings in existence. There are beings which are made out of only mind and those made out of matter.
Animals/humans/etc are experiencing reality from the physical angle of things.
Beings like "angels" or other "supernatural" entities are experiencing it solely from a mental perspective.
This is what separates your mode of experiencing from something like say, a "ghost" or "angel".
Let's say you see a river. To you it may look like a normal body of water.
A "ghost" may see it as being pus and blood.
An angel will see it as pure blissful liquid.
The experience of heaven or hellish or mixed states of existence ultimately thus depends on the condition of your consciousness.
If we're to try and separate what makes something a "dream" and what makes something a real universe or some such.. it is simply that a true dream is an entirely solitary experience. Whereas a "universe" or otherwise is a shared one.
>Sources to learn more
Go read old yogic manuals.
>With that any other info you have for me
*"Gods"/"angels"/etc have been "astral projecting" into our universe for years.
*Most beings will not be able to see you when you're visiting, as technically you are a higher form of life than them during this process.
* If your mind body is melting, youre not focused enough. Calm down and focus.
*The initial period will have a randomization effect- the answer is the same. You need to develop your focus.
*Don't get too excited and try to fuarrrk with things alot during your early experiments. It'll collapse the experience, until you get focused enough.
*If you're going to visit a world analogous to a cartoon you like- don't be stupid and attract bad attention from something that can follow you back.
*if something can see you/interact with you, DONT GIVE THEM YOUR REAL NAME. Avoid this!!
*If you're visiting somewhere thats more "mind" than "physical", your mind body will be drawn to take a concrete shape there.
*During the initial experiments you have, you will typically find yourself manifesting in 'liminal' areas and, in other worlds, typically during their holidays.
*You know how indigenous cultures make spooky masks/costumes/statues to scare spirits? Yeah, other worlds will do that sometimes too. Yes, it can scare the fuarrrk out of you if you're not expecting it and shock you back to your body. Just try to be aware you might see something odd.
That's all I've got right now.

I was about to perplexedly call you out on mind/matter separation because muh all is mind but...
Ive often bridged from lucid dreaming to pre-astral vibrations through intention and got body detaching but never the head! Any ideas? Not enough visualisation/imaginary body forcing? My mental health was pretty bad at the time.
Though i'm doing better now i never managed to disconnect in the meantime. I know the astral is my next stop on my road to enlightenment, after having toyed with all sorts of sigils, demons, angels, chaos magic, ceremonial stuff, third eye stuff, and eventually dropped it all because none of it felt like it was truly aligned with the natural direction my path is taking (?)
So i always yearn to return home to the astral to the point of some strange form of spiritual depression but i remain trapped in the flesh however.
Thanks for the warnings, the more knowledge the traveler has the better prepared he is to handle his journey. I will add more warnings which are only partly from experience, mostly stuff that comes up a lot in the literature.
1. Trust your instincts. If something feels bad, it is.
2. Leave stuff alone. Literally lurk moar or you might get touched.
3. Willpower is strength. It's the currency of the subtle world.
4. Be careful what you wish for, you become what you think about and end up where your steps take you.
Ps i once had something force me back into my body while i was trying to detach the head, wut

I was overjoyed when I heard the next step to meditation and lucid dreaming was psychic powers, well thanks for getting my hopes up.
Followed the pastebin ITT and it doesn't work, just did hemi sync and I don't feel any different, of course when I look at my hands it looks strange, that's not reality shifting, that's just my eyes adjusting to the light after being closed for 30 minutes.

I've given it two tries and yeah I'm kinda shocked it didn't work immediatly considering the fact that I'm a master at lucid dreaming, I perfected my mental fortress when I was locked up and can enter it at will, I lucid dream almost every night and when I have a nightmare I always snap out of it and beat up whatever creature is haunting me. I've had an out of body experience once when I was high on soykafty weed, doesnt mean it wasnt a lucid dream, I genuinely think you guys are mistaking lucid dreaming for astral projection and I'm not the only one making that argument, then again I could be wrong but insider trading isn't gonna provide us with concrete answers.
More often than not, when I dream, the dream starts in the room I fell asleep in, but I dont feel any different from a lucid dream and I dont see ghosts and soykaf, I think the more reasonable explaination is that I lucid dream so much that my brain is trying to trick me into thinking I'm not dreaming, hence why the dream starts in whatever place I fell asleep in.
Unspecified · 2024-02-13 05:51

I don't think I worded my argument properly so I'll clarify what I meant.
Astral projecting can be verified through a simple test, just ask a friend to place a random object on a chair in his room, astral project there, and text the object you've seen on the chair to said friend, if you guessed right then that's proof that astral projecting is legit.
What keeps me guessing though is that I haven't seen any succesful experiment that ressembles this, I will keep practicing and come back once I did said experiment.
My theory is, if you keep looking up astral projection lore, with demon, ghosts angel and the likes, chances are you will lucid dream this world you've read so much about.
I'll be happy to hear any counterpoint or answers regarding this, unlocking psychic powers would be pretty cool and even though the chances of this whole thing being real are looking slim at the moment, I really would like it to be true.

Don't know what that means. I hope you get my point that if there exists some method of acquiring secret information then you don't need to prove it with goofy experiments, the proof would come from people exploiting it for personal gain.
I use the same argument on flat earthers. If their model of the world is more accurate than everyone else's then there should be some way to exploit that information gap to invent something or build something or at least predict something that people using the inferior models can't replicate. And as it stands the only thing the flat earthers can do is brag to strangers on the internet how they know "the truth".
>the fact that the CIA dipped their toes in the matter implied bad soykaf was going down in the astral realm
That doesn't prove there is such a thing as the "astral realm" it just proves that government agencies are reckless with taxpayer money.
>white girls
That's a whole thing in an of itself. Pretty girls get away with believing stupid soykaf like astrology and witchcraft because men are reluctant to risk sexual rejection to set them straight. I do get your point, but if powerful people used astral projection to spy on each other we wouldn't know anything about it, I'm skeptical about astral projecting but everything sounds like a conspiracy until it actually happens, that whole epstein thing was so insane everyone started looking into conspiracies, as they should, I think it's better to cycle through concepts like this and move on once we find out it's fake than listening to whatever the media is saying.

>My boss is a flat earther and he argues that airline companies do exactly that.
Airline companies are notoriously unprofitable and constantly broke but interesting that he had some kind of a response for that.
>if powerful people used astral projection to spy on each other we wouldn't know anything about it
So the hypothesis is that there are so few people who can use astral projection effectively that they can hide their existence. That's possible. Although that also means that people who think they can learn the same skills from a random website are kidding themselves. If it was easy then everyone could do it. And if everyone can do it then there would be evidence of that everywhere.

the CIA is not known to be the most smart and effective group of people. Didn't they spend a lot of years trying to like, kill Fiddle Castro? To their credit they did eventually succeed (with the plan of waiting till eventually he dies on his own), but they certainly seemed to pursue a lot of crazy schemes and dead ends in the process.

If this is the case and say the CIA or someone owns some of these people, what would we expect to see ? I guess they can only observe so much at any time, and if there's only very few of them who are any good, it might just be that they're being used to spy on other governments and any information so obtained is ususally defended with some parallel construction. Basically impossible to prove this is not happening.

>are just too nice or stupid to use them for personal profit
Lmao. I have had what people consider to be OBEs few times unintentionally, usually as a consequence of sleep paralysis. I am a skeptic myself so I'm not sure if the feeling "out-of-body" is real or if it's a fabrication of my mind, that's to be yet explored. BUT am I certain of one thing: if it is real, the people who are able to do it, are most definitely not the kind of people interested in credit cards. In fact, that's part of the reason WHY THEY ARE ABLE to do it in the first place. People who are attached to materialism and have their consciousness leveled down to money-food-sex-power, are not the kind of people known for their psychic abilities. They are also rarely the personal-gain sort of people. When you think of OBE or real-time projection, think of Tibetan monks and mystics. Also I imagine vision would be different once you are out; I think Monroe or Bruce talked about this in the AP books, it's 360 degree vision, the kind we are not used to use in the physical plane. It would take time and training to get used to a 360 vision. Also your subconsciousness can still summon up all sorts of unreal things that could interfere with a real-time projection. Also there is the thing with the memory download; it can be quite hard for people to remember what happened during a projection.
>>6803
I think you are a long way from "testing if it's real". First just try to get the experience of being out-of-body, which I can guarantee that it *feels* very real and you can only know it when you experience it; it's quite unlike anything you've ever felt. After you doing it many times you can start thinking about "testing" it. There is also a neat test that doesn't involve human interaction: take a playing card out of a deck and place it face down on a glass transparent table/thing without getting a look at it. Have a light on during night and see if you can see the card from underneath. Check after you wake up. Repeat this as many times as possible.
>>6894
People flaunt many different techniques as the (only) way to do it. The first time I heard and tried astral projection was a decade ago when it wasn't mentioned this much. I remember reading it on a website from my native country of all things lol. It talked about 2 techniques: the all popular rope technique and something about imagining an elevator/stairs then jumping of a building. I immediately was put off by the rope technique (I've never climbed on a rope and my visualization can't summon it perfectly). I kept trying the elevator one for weeks and it didn't work; I somehow always ended up falling asleep. Then one night when I wasn't practicing the technique, I entered a lucid dream which turned into a sleep paralysis, which turned into feeling out of body and seeing myself from outside. Then I had w/o practicing, randomly (now that I know some info, it wasn't really random) a few times again. I stopped practicing the stuff because I had real life stuff to do, but then after a couple of years I tried to do it intentionally again, this time being more informed. I learned that you have to alter your lifestyle a bit, if you want to even have a chance at this. It's very unrealistic to expect that you will be able to do it if you live a life where the odds are stacked against you. What do I mean by this?
if you
>have a meat based diet
>are trying it before you go to sleep i.e you are tired
>don't remember your dreams / have never had a lucid dream before
>have lots of mind chatter / inner monologue
>haven't mastered meditation
>spend your days like a mindless tiktok zombie
>are generally a person that doesn't / can't rely on their own intuition
>have lowly intentions for personal profit like stealing credit card numbers as user 6784 mentioned
your chances will be smaller.
I have no idea where that "cutting-diamonds" bullshit came from. (If you ask me, most ridiculous thing ever) It probably worked for one person and now they think it's THE method for AP. It worked for them, doesn't mean it's gonna work for you. You have to intuitively pick a method that you think would work for you. Afaik, there are no rules here, so you can even make up your own technique. Remember how I said my OBEs weren't as random as I thought they where? Well, each time it happened there was one thing all these occurrences had in common: I had been sleeping for some time (4-5, maybe 6 hours) and I had woken up and gone back to sleep within 30 minutes and that's when it happened. This was unintentional and often included sleep paralysis which wasn't very fun and it can scare you away. Later I did some reading in the books on AP and found out that this was used as a technique because once you've spent 4-5 hours asleep the tiredness doesn't affect you very much and leaves room for an OBE to occur.
if you want to increase your chances significantly (this is stuff that has worked for me):
>get temporarily on a vegetarian diet, if you can't go on a vegan one. I think vegetarian is enough though, vegan is a bit overkill
>have your alarm wake you up after one or two REM cycles; maybe that's 4-5 hours or 6. Stay up for 10-15 mins, drink water maybe and then go back with whatever technique you choose whether that's diamonds or hemisync or ropes or elevator or whatever.
>get in the habit of writing down your dreams. I have no idea why this helps, but it does. I have increased my overall lucidity by remembering my dreams. You can't remember all of them, so write them down in as much detail as possible and read them occasionally. Also do the daily checking thing when you ask yourself if you are dreaming right now (look at a watch, your hands etc). It will increase your awareness. If you are a person who doesn't dream much, you are either exhausted or spend your days mindlessly, or both, in which case I will suggest doing some mental activity daily, like puzzles or math and try not to be exhausted by getting more sleep. I've had a lot ease remembering dreams if I had done more complex mental activity the previous day, like math problems.
>If you are one of those people with "inner voices" and you have a constant chatter daily, get that fixed, even if you don't care about AP/OBE. I will have to make a whole thread here on Lainchan about how inner monologue is literally evil incarnate. normal people have the nerve to yell "SoUleSs NPC!!1!1" when actually mind chatter is the lowest, most inferior, simpleton way of thinking and saddest thing of all is they are unable to comprehend that you don't need it. It literally slows your thinking down. When I heard 80% people thought like this I knew why we are a hopeless civilization. Learn to think without an inner voice and practice visualization (not mindless ego-indulging maladaptive daydreaming, but vivid visualization).
>Meditation ties in with the point about inner voice. Essentially do everything that would increase your intuition and be mindful.
>Personal profit is a no go for me. I don't have info on the topic but personally I think anyone who is in this "to score something" won't be able to achieve it (if agencies around the world didn't make progress this is why;). Also anyone who is stuck in a materialistic/hardcore atheistic mindset. Higher frequency vibrations and all that.
>some person above said something about demons and Christianity
I actually think your dad made a good point even if he may have misinformed you. I don't think you can get possessed, but at the same time it opens up a room for dark rabbit holes, for a lack of a better term. If you do this, chances are you have also been at some point interested in the occult. It's sort of like when they say "weed is a gateway drug". It's a slippery slope because at first it's all fun and games, until it's not. I know people who haven't experienced this for themselves, will scoff and think they are "above it all". There is a reason why there are new-agers getting back to Christianity and swearing off everything else. Even if it's all mumbo jumbo, it can leave a bad psychological effect on you. One of the worst case scenarios maybe doesn't include possession, instead it's losing your mind with psychosis/schizophrenia and ending up institutionalized. I don't support fear-mongering. Practice it mindfully/reasonable, be cautious. I don't recommend people who are struggling with mental health or drug addiction to try this. Even if it's just depression, even if it's just weed. If that's you, get yourself together, then experiment.
>CIA
other countries don't run similar projects? They do, they just keep quiet about it. I have yet to read the documents on hemisync. I listened to the first couple of minutes of the tapes and it seems somewhat okay but it would be better if the voice was completely edited out because it's distracting. Maybe it works better than all the other techniques, who knows. I have too much other IRL stuff to deal with so I won't be trying anything, anytime soon.

Man, I've posted here some months ago about how it doesn't make you an ubermensch if you have to crystallize all of your thought into "words or pictures" all the time before you can even be aware that you're thinking. Anyone who has ever found themselves in a stream of unsymbolized thought should be able to recognize that as a handicap/cope, though fortunately no more insurmountable than something like poor visualization or subvocalizing while reading usually is. Got a few bites but it seemed like not many people were buying it. I guess you have to be there.

Sad. I'm disappointed but not surprised. It's okay if people have an inner voice but if it's the only way they are aware of thinking... and they can't comprehend to think without subvocalizing... no wonder society is screwed. And if that's 80% of people. Suddenly the state of the world makes so much sense to me. It's the damnest thing, especially when I hear THEM point to the 20% as if we are the "NPC soulless freaks". Were you born into such a skill or ability or did you work towards it with practice? I mostly read with a funny voice in my head, and think with pictures. And then there are times when it's almost as if I'm having a conversation (where one of the conversing party to the discussion being me as the funny voice in my head talking) with emptiness that somehow can respond back wih understandable nothing. It would be pretty neat to be able to extend my conscious control over to the other - I guess "intuitive"? - side as well.

not him but I rather think one learns to hallucinate words. Im not sure about pictures, but my most functional visual hallucination abilities were significantly developed with practice, though maybe age had something to do with it too.
Thought is something that I'd argue is separate almost entirely from consciousness, and certainly from any internal babbling, which is mostly just for formalization of arguments and rehearsals for conversations.

From the day when I was able to retain memories which was around 4 up to 14 I had a purely conceptual stream of thought. No hearing an inner voice, no monologues, just instant almost instinctual way of thinking. Everything was lighting fast and I excelled in subjects like mathematics. I did use a lot of visualization and thinking in pictures when I felt the need for it. But no inner voice at all. I remember being aggravated with the teacher in first grade when he was making us subvocalize aloud when teaching us to read. I could already read on a normal speed yet this guy was trying to slow me down. I was focused, present and always in the flow when working on math problems.
Fast forward to high school and I discover that I'm level 2 autistic and can't hold a normal conversation with people. So what do I do? I script and practice conversations internally to anticipated questions. This is how I developed an inner voice and I started using it exclusively for everything. Very bad idea. My processing speed severely declined and I know that excessive unchecked use of the inner voice was the cause of it.
When I realized my mistake I corrected myself and kept "relearning" my old ways. This is why things like meditation exist, to quiet down you mind. Ironically when I didn't have an inner voice I never understood the deal about meditation because I was already in that ultra focused mental state. Now I'm practicing it and it's getting me back to how I normally was. You don't even have to sit down and do all the new-agey shenanigans. You literally just train yourself to shut the chatter down, everyday, bit by bit. It takes practice, just like it took me practice to develop it in the first place.
By eliminating it, you will also get rid of negative self-talk (I didn't have this but my internal voice sometimes insulted/soykaftalked other people lmao), you will get efficient and faster. I think it is entirely possible to lose it and only use it when you absolutely need to (for rehearsing, presentations etc.), the same way I was able to develop it even though I didn't have it at all before.
And while I'm at the topic, in my lengthier post above, I mentioned an inner voice is "evil incarnate". I want to elaborate from an occult point of view: what industry is known most for devil worship? The music industry. What does the devil use as an instrument? A pitchfork. A *PITCH*fork. There are also certain religious scripts where it is said that the devil uses sound to destroy the universe (Vedanta iirc). How is the devil portrayed to corrupt people? By whispering in their ear (to be honest this is angles too, but that's beside the point). How annoying it is when you get a song stuck in your head and you can't get rid of no matter what? How inefficient does that make you? Don't you think it's weird that there are people who say "they literally can't live without music"? (That's because music acts as a substitute for inner voice, as soon as they turn off the music, they start hearing their thoughts and it's not fun; people literally develop depression because of constant negative talk; I'm sorry but if you can't go a week/month without music I'd view that as a handicap). Personally coming from an Orthodox upbringing, daydreaming and purposeless imagination is demonized too, but I won't get into that topic. Last but not least, think what is the speed of light and what is the speed of sound. That's the difference between the speed of non-sound thinking and inner voice type of thinking.
Just some things to consider.

Yes, the "intuitive" or "understandable nothing" is what you'll want to try to get more in touch with, the "unsymbolized thought" I mentioned (there is some web and youtube content on this; try also elicit.com or psyarxiv or google scholar). It is, for me at least, a very volatile mode of thinking in that it wants to "collapse" into crystallized or symbolized expressions of the raw concept, which can be "imagery" ("imagined sensations") -- visual, olfactory, tactile, emotional, gustatory, aural (in the case of imagery consisting of an "internal voice", the research indicates a distinct "internal hearing" and an "internal speaking"), etc. i can manage to observe myself in a stream of unsymbolized thought, usually early in the morning, but if I start thinking about the thinking, it becomes hard to keep it unsymbolized.
The abstract from "The Nature of Unsymbolized Thinking", Vicente and Martinez-Manrique, 2016:
>Using the method of Descriptive Experience Sampling, some subjects report experiences of thinking that do not involve words or any other symbols (Hurlburt and Heavey 2006; Hurlburt and Akhter 2008). Even though the possibility of this unsymbolized thinking has consequences for the debate on the phenomenological status of cognitive states, the phenomenon is still insufficiently examined. This paper analyzes the main properties of unsymbolized thinking and advances an explanation of its origin. According to our analysis, unsymbolized thoughts appear as propositional states, that is, they are experienced as compositional conceptual phenomena, with semantic and syntactic features analogous to those of the contents of utterances. Based on this characterization we hypothesize that unsymbolized thinking is continuous with the activity of inner speech, in particular, it is a form of inner speech where the speech action is aborted even before the intention to talk is implemented by motor commands. We contend that this account provides the best explanation of the distinctive features of the phenomenon, and it helps to understand the sense of agency and ownership associated with it. Finally, we consider a possible objection arising from the experience of unworded inner speech, and we show how our account should inform the debate about cognitive phenomenology.
Some of my own comments from elsewhere about my subjective experience of this (with some parent context):
>> I'm the fifth : thinking doesn't really manifest itself in anyway in my brain. Maybe something vague and abstract I call concept. So like if I think about Christmas I will think about a concept : being with family, happiness, that sort of thing and my thought is the summary of this but it's not a word or image or anything. It's like thinking of a feeling without really experiencing it.
>This was my primary mode in childhood. I would also read fluently without redundantly manifesting the words in any form (though I would voluntarily examine the sound of some turn of phrase or visualize a word to think more about the connotation or feeling evoked by its shape, or whatever). I noticed from the teens a disturbing increase in the difficulty of not subvocalizing while reading. This stayed pretty much the same rather than growing into something worse as it seemed it might -- I can still speed-read, usually, but I'm nearly overwhelmed by a sort of anxiety of failing to have actually fully understood. Feels like I can't be sure I didn't skip something. Similarly, unsymbolized thought still occurs but is highly volatile and almost always must collapse to a visualization or articulation or a sensory or emotional or whatever other experiential emulation. I can still complete significant sequences of unsymbolized thought -- I always tended toward the term 'concept' and derivatives too -- especially in the area of developing a plan of tangible action, or thinking about the cause of some event, whether that's tracing the root cause of a technical problem or piecing together an interpersonal one, or about likely outcomes of actions, or... Well, I'm not entirely sure I know the whole list, but anyway, if I somehow avoid going meta at all I can stay in that mode, but the first hint of metacognition, and especially if I start thinking about how I'm thinking without imagining anything tangible, and it's very hard not to start solidifying things into word or images even by accident.
>I'm glad this has gotten some attention in research -- always wondered, knew I couldn't be all that unique, but was confronted with this immortal false dichotomy of thinking in words vs. thinking in pictures.
>>I wish someone would explain what it means to think WITH words. I've never understood that. I've always seen pictures and videos in my head and never words unless I am thinking of text on a page in a book for some reason. I can't always find the words (which should be obvious) when I see the scenes in my head. That sounds normal to me. Maybe I am missing what he is saying...
>Have you ever imagined the sequence of tasks needed to handle a situation, not by visualizing them or describing them in words in your head, but rather stepping through them in sort of quick flashes of intuition or intention? You aren't looking at mental pictures of the steps or anything, but it's very close -- if you tend toward visual thinking at all, visualizations practically intrude into the realm of pure thought if you stop on any one concept for too long. It's very difficult at least for me to prevent the thoughts from crystallizing into a visualization or a verbal articulation once I'm aware that I'm trying to think in pure abstract concept. But if you keep moving quickly enough, you can develop only the vague intention of doing each step, and an unsymbolized conceptual awareness of how each step will lead into the next, certain problems that could arise and how you'll mitigate them, intuitions of how some person or other might respond to something, which of a set of choices you would prefer, and more. And on a good day when your mind is nimble, you can arrive at a complete understanding of how you intend to do something before you have visualized or verbalized any of it at all.

tel me more about how the inner voice/monologue is evil. i have an internal voice that doesn't shut up and i'm reliant on it a lot. was experimenting yesterday and did some sort of mental exercise to shut it up. it felt as if a weight was taken off my being and it unlocked a lot of mental energy. in the long term i was scarcely able to shut it up completely and i can't really develop concept-thinking (i like to call it instant light or flash thinking) because all around me there aren't really any incentives to do so. i was thinking some sort of puzzle video game but then again i want to AP so i don't know if this is more counterproductive than anything. i feel chained to words like post-babel.

So personal profit is a game breaker despite the fact that the getaway tape mantra tells to use energy for yourself and those close to you?
I've been having way less lucid dream ever since I started doing meditation.
I'm a decent filmmaker so I should be good creative wise, the closest thing I had to an AP was when I "woke up" in the bed I fell asleep in and got attacked by a shadow monster, I kicked his ghostly ass and threw him down the stairs until he didn't move anymore, I always thought that was a dope lucid dream but maybe that got me derezzed from the astral realm? Can I force this door open by taking shrooms?
I'm getting real tired of meditating and not making any progress, I can't even lucid dream anymore, hemi sync is great for decision making sure, but I really want to go deeper.
Am I listening to outdated tapes? If I do 6 hours of meditation I should pop out at some point right? Also is weed good for this sort of thing?

I think we're all really damn tired of not making a shred of progress. I've actually had times where i was starting to enter the slipstream of astral and apparently some sort of entity or entities pushed me back into my body? It's as if someone doesn't want me to go astral.
I doubt weed helps, i know weed as a substance that inhibits dreams, so it seems contrarian in a certain way.
Instead my best success was as previously stated bridging over from lucid dreaming, in which i was stating intent, which was often enough to start the vibrations and flashes and the body detaching and so on. However i never managed to truly go astral.
A part of me entertains the idea that on some frequency level i was not ready to go astral and that it could hurt me or be chaotic and hardly manageable for me as a result. As if, since i was at a specific vibrational level, i wasn't readily compatible with the state of astral and more aligned with the lower, fleshy levels. This must be also what lainon >>6904 was talking about. That you need to raise yourself, your "vibration" or frequency as in your state of being and of self to a level that is sufficient for the astral to welcome you appropriately. Otherwise it might all just be unworkable and difficult.

yes that was exactly what I was talking about. Not because I follow the new age stuff but because I've seen the difference in myself personally.
>Instead my best success was as previously stated bridging over from lucid dreaming
As in you were lucid dreaming then the visuals vanish and you saw or felt out-of-body? Because that's how it kinda happened for me too. falling alseep -> dream/lucid dream/nothingness -> out-of-body. It has never been the straightforward way of doing some relaxation exercise and then consciously floating away. It always started with me falling asleep and then realizing before my body woke up, hence the sleep paralysis.

>So personal profit is a game breaker despite the fact that the getaway tape mantra tells to use energy for yourself and those close to you?
Back when I was OBE-ing I didn't even know hemi-sync existed. I think they could be useful but I haven't tried them. However I don't think they are only thing you can try. Just go with whatever method intuitively makes sense to you (tapes aren't outdated to my knowledge). Also I have no idea how one would use AP/OBE for personal gain. What are you gonna go, hypothetically, of course? "Steal" astral energy? Because I don't think reading credit cards is realistic given the nature of the whole ordeal. Some say gain insight. Insight into what? Akashic records if you are into that sort of thing. Maybe talk to dead people. Exploring around is in my opinion the only thing one would gain. Maybe that seems too anticlimactic for people.
>I've been having way less lucid dream ever since I started doing meditation.
Then stop, lmao. If it's not working for you, don't force it. I noticed that the more I tried to force things, the less they worked. Literally the first time I had OBE was the night I decided not to do the "exercises". Also my lucid dreaming was at its peak when I was heavily mentally engaged with math problems, slept for more than 7 hours, avoided meat and wrote down/remembered all my dreams. Maybe that won't work for other people, I don't know.
>but maybe that got me derezzed from the astral realm?
No. AFAIK no one can derezz anyone. You had a cool lucid dream that's all.
>Can I force this door open by taking shrooms? Also is weed good for this sort of thing?
I look at weed/shrooms/psychedelics as shortcuts people take. Two bad things happen when that's the case: 1. You can't have a real time projection because you are simply not sober. Your mind will conjure up all kinds of things, and while you might *feel* out-of-body and have all the elf/cosmos revelations, you won't be in control. 2. You can get dependent and convince yourself that you won't attain the same feeling again w/o them. Being sober is best imo. Or at the very least keep it at microdosing level.
>If I do 6 hours of meditation I should pop out at some point right?
That's crazy unrealistic hours for most people. Shamans, mystics and the like can afford to practice long hours like that because it's literally their lifestyle. You will maybe manage a week, get frustrated and give up on everything.

You already have unsymbolized thinking, it's just drowned out by the noise the inner voice makes. Everyone that has done thinking has it. It first starts with unsymbolized thought and then crystalizes into words/speech/visuals, except you've been training your life to only register the latter. My guess would be that it all started in school when teachers taught how us to "subvocalize" words when reading but that's speculation.

>Being sober is best imo. Or at the very least keep it at microdosing level.
About to be my first time doing shrooms pretty soon, I'm going to the woods with friends to do this, anything in particular I should practice in order to ease in the AP?

>As in you were lucid dreaming then the visuals vanish and you saw or felt out-of-body?
The way it worked for me is similar to stating intention before falling asleep and wanting to lucid dream. I used to do this and just repeat to myself "i will lucid dream, i am aware now" or some stuff like that, for Memory Induced Lucid Dreaming / MILD. When i trained this a bit and was decent at it, i would then, in a lucid dream while conscious and aware and all, do the same intent stating but for going astral. If i did it right, things would start getting freaky content awareness scale style, i would start getting resounding vibrations and flashes like file related albeit not as quick to set in. Then i would transition to my body, flat on my back if it's important, at the start of an out of body process with the vibrations and flashes and starting to detach.
I reiterate that i was never able to detach fully, usually the upper body or at least the head always got stuck or 'in sync' or i don't know.
I tried HemiSync and got real comfy sometimes but it usually did nothing noticeable for me except better sleep, because it just made me fall asleep.
There must be a better technique for us all...

If you consider the real goals and motivations of the US public school system (from the beginning), which is easy to do because they hardly made pretenses about it, the reading curriculum can start to seem a bit sinister. Later I may look into whether a link between subvocalization and cognition was known/hypothesized yet

my humble two cents is that unsymbolized thought has to do with moving towards a place of living from the heart, instead of the mind.
from mystic texts/resources ive read they all talk about the heart as being the seat at which infinity resides, where god resides, or the "Christ spark", a lot of them talk about the importance of the purification of the heart, one I'm reading now, by al Ghazali a Sufi mystic, "the Alchemy of Happiness" has a lot on this,
modern scientific research has indeed found neurons in the heart, as well as the gut, thus there definitely exists, non local, and arguably "non-physical" electron/whateverparticle wave patterns in both the heart, and the gut (animal , sex centres), according to the findings of quantum mechanical phenomena- which is present everywhere all the time, and is a deeper and more accurate scientific depiction of physical reality then classical physics is.
anyway im just chatting soykaf, basically, unsymbolised thought DEFINITELY (to me) in my head (lol) is the consequence of leading your life, following your heart, not your mind, and your mind will always inescapably try to make sense of where your heart leads you to no avail, when people follow their hearts, they perform miracles, create 100Billion dollar tech companies, make symphonies, invent bitcoin, (AP?) whateva you get the point, im sure in all these cases the creators mind was like a little rascal telling them "this company aint doin soykaf boy"
or, "noones gonna listen to the song your making bruddah!"
2 things:
buy some very big ear defenders, slap them on, lie down, close eyes, and listen to the beauty of your heartbeat (you will hear your heartbeat and nothing else), it is eternally pumping blood, let the rhythm put you into a trance, you can tap into deep states of mind from this, and idk why but it just feels like my inner world naturally becomes so much more alive and vivid, probably from no sound, no light. cultivate love for the unmanifest, mother nature, and the wonder of the internal organs and the internal world.
2, 8 billion unique paths , find what works = I think developing explicitly "creative" crafts such as drawing or music develops the unsymbolised thought and this intuitional knowledge and mode of thinking,
theory being that the heart is the processor which runs the soykaf, but, it is VERY DELICATE of course. alhamdullilah

Astral projection is simply uploading or downloading data from The Wired. All human experiences such as memories and cultured are stored phisically in the atmosphere. You can just go there and download whatever you need. Sometimes your brain does that randomly, that's what causes stuff like Deja Vus - you're streaming someone else's memories that look very similar to the current event you're living.
How to do that on purpose? You'll have to find what triggers these downloads.

Like other skills it takes a certain talent to get into it easily. On my case though I'm stuck on the plateau so I don't know where to go from here.
I learned about lucid dreaming where you could actually control the stuff that happen and I actually did after like the second attempt (the first one I think had my sleep disturbed). What I had in my mind is doing something lewd to a certain character or rather that was subconscious at the time.
The first phase is inside the dream you remember or become aware. I used to have sleep paralysis back then but it stopped so I'm kinda used to the feeling of having a hard time waking up the body. After being aware of dreaming some stuff happened, weird whispers feeling afloat, and vibration at the forehead. Trying to wake up from this state is weird, it's like you're dead and then you might feel sad or excited or whatever, then I remembered my goal but it's pitchblack like there's nothing in there so I started making things one by one. I could do mental math and I had mental clarity the entire time. The only issue I had was my hearing and feelings are duplicated. I could feel my body in my room the air from fan brushing my skin and its noise, the sounds at night, and I could also make stuff appear in the lucid world which I can also feel, I am aware I was sleeping and it was dark but I kinda didn't want to move my view outside my body since it's dark out and it is night so I just stayed in my little sandbox and continued. If I wanted a lick I could feel my skin being licked. Too bad I woke up since my pants couldn't contain my boner and I wanted to readjust my underwear. Overall this experience is I say 8.5/10.
