Is it worth writing your middle of the night dreams into a dream journal? I used to make a habit of writing every dream I have in full detail regardless of when I woke up, but when I do this for wake ups in the middle of the night I find it hard to get back to sleep because the act of writing is relatively stimulating. Now I'm considering only writing down my dreams for wake ups that are on target with my expected wake up time

Personnaly i write down dreams solely when im aware of them. By that I mean that if im conscious of the fact im dreaming, and i wake up, i might as well take the time to write some note about it. If this bring you trouble maybe just write some keywords ? Maybe it'd be enough to remember it later whitout waking you up too much.

My most exciting journeys into dreamland started after 2 nights of writing down my dreams immediately after waking up. Flipping on the light sucked. I wonder if there is a lighted pen of some kind out there, or maybe a soft glow notebook with blue light blocked on it, that would be specially made for dream journaling without killing your melatonin levels?
