None of my dreams make any fucking sense

Sipho Nkosi · 2021-01-22 09:48
This is an intervention...I tried to write about my dreams, look up meanings, and sleep in ways that I could possibly be more lucid. No matter what, how, or why I still don't understand my dreams or how they are created. They're pretty much all acid trips that don't have any rhyme or reason with my day. I understand that's the human mind and it's the way that we think but if you guys can't explain to me how Vladimir Putin appearing in a dream where I flawlessly Ice skate in a swimsuit I didn't even have on along with me jumping it deep blue warm Caribbean waters & seeing my old neighborhood friends and such then I don't even know anymore.

>es dreams have things like subjects, locations, and actions and e's complaining that they're too hard to interpret

>>4000 I'M COMPLAINING BECAUSE EVERYONE AROUND ME CA. INTERPRET OR UNDERSTAND THEIR DREAMS

>>3997 Not all dreams are meant to be interpreted. Nothing too interesting is probably going on in your subconscious to manifest itself in a dream. Sleep is regenerative process and sometimes it needs non-nonsensical dreams to act as filler. It would explain the random people appearing, because the mind can't dream of new faces.

>>3997 Do you have dissociative tendencies (eg. due to childhood trauma)? I have, and my dreams are just like yours.
Someone · 2021-03-12 01:23
>>3997 You don't need to find the meaning of any of your dreams, because there is none. Dreams are most likely just a mish-mash of your thoughts and experiences through out the day. >>4006 >I'M COMPLAINING BECAUSE EVERYONE AROUND ME CA. INTERPRET OR UNDERSTAND THEIR DREAMS At least be proud that your dreams are interesting and you can laugh at how bizarre your dreams are. I also have dreams that don't make any sense. I usually write them down and laugh at them at a later date when i reread them.

>>3997 When your life will the dream will. A dream makes sense thematically, understanding they're made from the desires and emotion and personal unconsciousness. But not constructing obvious logic because conscious faculties are sleeping. intuitive and aesthetic and emotional capability is needed to comprehend something that is not logical, like that picture of a logical duck.

>>3997 it is obvious that you achieve appraisal in your dream in both ice and water sports and get some by your friends as a kid. putin is a symbol success in ice sports or at least involved with it. It isn't that hard to understand. Putin is also a power symbol as being a ruler of russia. Did you feel weak when you were younger?

this is about to sound cringe but after reading up on psychology and spending a lot of time in therapy, specifically one therapist who would often share the techniques shes using on me, my dreams always make intuitive sense except for certain things. like in your dream if I had it I would instantly know why I dreamed all of those things, it'd take a bit to figure out why it was vladimir putin and not some other figure that holds a similar archetypal role/that i have a similar perception of in my head. I'd also have to do some non intuitive analysis on the nature of the water but not the jumping in. And then i'd probably not be able to figure out on my own why i was wearing that specific swimsuit, whatever it looked like. Il try to explain my process, I think you usually know exactly why somethings happening but you can't form it into words and it's not often logical yet. Like I frequently have a dream where I murdered someone and am then panicking because I don't know how it happened and I don't know what i'm going to do. I often wake up in fear that the police are about to find out. This sounds asinine but you start with knowing for a fact that the dream is about "that feeling of panic and fear you get when your worried about getting caught". Usually the feelings around whatever's happening you can recognize, like you probably felt a certain way about skating flawlessly. After that you consider what things might be going on in the background of your life to make your brain confront this feeling in your sleep. In this case it's about the fact that my dorm apartment is a fuarrrking mess and i've been told someone will move in the vacant room who hasn't moved in for a month now after they were supposed to. I noticed that I get the same feeling as that dream when i'm about to open the door, il visualize so briefly I almsot dont notice this irrational fear that hes in there talking with campus security about how he cant move in to a place that's trashed like this and they will be going through all my things. It's really not THAT messy, and he'd likely wait for me to say hey can you get the living room clean or if he did call security they'd be like hey you need to get this stuff cleaned by x date. There is other explanations too, when I visited my mom I had ordered some pills that I lost somewhere probably outside, but it could be inside and I never actively think about it but there is this worry in the back of my head she's going to find them. Regardless something clicked, as the next time I had this dream I didn't wake up from the panic and in my dream there were three bodies. I was thinking how the fuarrrk am I gonna hide three bodies, and they slowly started disappearing one by one till there was none and in that typical dream logic fashion I went "Oh I didn't even do that" and just accepted this. All you can analyze for sure is the base feeling or sentiment directly being presented to you, but from that you can make some good hypotheses. The next hard part is the specifics. Who did I kill? How did I kill them? Sometimes i'm eating the bodies what's up with that? Why was there three bodies? To answer these you have to figure out your preconceptions about the various specifics. How do I feel about cannibalism, what does it mean to me? What does it mean to me in the context of my cultural background? What about three? If the people weren't just faceless what is my relationship to the people I killed, do I maybe worry sometimes i'm going to hurt them or something like that (to be really dumb about it). Even the most nonsensical dreams you can do this with. There is only one I haven't been able to it was a dream in which I was being endlessly chased by this real life virus made by these script kiddy types and I had to keep running and as soon as it caught up to me I would endlessly get actual physical "brain jolts" repeatedly but not wake up and be shown horrifying imagery.

Don't try to dissect your dreams on the basis of certain situations or things you've dreamed of. Because dreams are very much a way of our brain to bring order from chaos by beeing itslef chaotic. It is never about what exactly you dream about but what emotions concepts entail. For example you jumping in carribbean waters isn't important. The jumping part and your feelings about it during the dream are. Is it something you wanted to do, something you are neutral about, something you fear. THast way dreams can tell us a lot about our fears and wishes and why these concepts are more or less generalized. The classical "I am being chased but can't run away" stress dream for example, or the " I need to get X, get up this ladder, hill, tower" dream. That is why I find "bad dreams" the easiest to understand. But they are not different from anything else we dream about just very harsh in their message.

>>4251 In the above post I was saying this but disagree on I do think the carribean waters are "important" they just arent speaking to his mental state or problems. They are more of a secondary importance in that unlike what your saying all he can do is hypothesize and they give insight to his like inner lexicon of images and associations. Im not saying theres a "reason" necessarily its a carribean blue instead of murky soykaf colored other then it almost had to be. Thats so atomistic so like zooming out there was a bit more of a "reason" probably to analyze why there was a body of water at all. Even though it is about the feelings, the fact that he jumped into water and not a void or a hole or whatever implies a body of water better symbolizes what was going on for him then the other things. That's all im saying it says. Like if we pretend the feeling/scenario of jumping into the water was that excitement you get upon trying something new, someone else might have a dream with that same feeling but they always float off into space instead. Its not totally incapable of being analyzed because you know at least that whatever your brain chose was probably the first thing it matched to the scenario specific feelings. So you can kind of conjecture around that.

>explain to me how Vladimir Putin appearing in a dream where I flawlessly Ice skate in a swimsuit I didn't even have on along with me jumping it deep blue warm Caribbean waters & seeing my old neighborhood friends and such then I don't even know anymore. Dreams are sometimes meant for keeping your memories intact. Your mind reminds you of your old neighborhood friends you haven't thought of in years in which the memory of it might never come across when awake. It's just a way to refresh your brain cells. Jumping in the water in a swimsuit, skating, or anything involving movement reminds you to come outside.
