they're legit and powerful if you know how to work with them. they're beyond how e-girls and wanna be witches portray them. go and read some books on tarot.

So you think magic is real but those other people using it, man... they don't have a CLUE!

Tarot is great for scoring e-girls and wanna be witches. I give very superficial readings with the Rider-Waite deck, and then I show them my rock collection. I just think the rocks look cool, but they tell me it stores sooo much good energy. ;-)

This. If magic is real, I think you're not going to find it just by reading some books. That's what the other people do. Not like me an enlightened individual with my meditation and initiatory Tradition.

That's hilarious. Where do you find your clients? Do you cam the reading and rock collection, or just pics and text? I do something similar with palm reading, but it's pretty difficult to get a good look at people's hands the way they take pictures or show them on cams to be convincing. Plus it lacks that tactile experience that helps with buy in.

online tarot/palm readings. That's fuarrrking sad man. fuarrrk quarantine.
Urist · 2020-12-21 16:32
Oh, this is a thread for me.
I used to read Tarot cards for about 3 years, and usually just for fun or whatever. But honestly I find it very fun to just go into a pseudotrance and just spurt out whatever comes in mind. Sometimes it comes true and it is kinda hard not to take it seriously yourself.
Point I'm trying to make is that the cards carry some nice lessons about life etc. Think of it as an abstract and more occult way of understanding the content of books like The Alchemist, Thus spoke Zarathustra and similar esoteric exploration / philosophical books.
Also, they helped me gain laid for the first time and some times after that. So there's that.

They're a fun brainstorming tool and provide nice symbolism to throw into stories.

We all need to adapt lain. Palm readings in bars and similar is a lot of fun, and helps forge really strong relationships, but online it is "sad man". However, while the success rate is lower, it still works to get interesting people into your life.

Sounds like a cool story, tell some more maybe?

Can you even do palm reading online?
Do people actually do that?
Is it useful or do people just want to know these things out of novelty value?
I never really found a deck then again i didnt look, but what are peoples experiences for actual divination with tarot?
HELIOS · 2020-12-22 14:53

You'd think they're magical and soykaf but they're actually a psychological introspection tool with neat imagery
Then there's the actually esoteric ones with spirit channeling capabilities like the Crowley deck
Splicer · 2020-12-25 15:06
cute
Nell · 2020-12-29 06:46
Cringe. Maybe they might be useful for brainstorming but other then that they're just soykaf for white girls to larp as witches.

Tarot cards are just paper with symbols on them. You visualize your question then lay out the cards. At that point, your intuition kicks in.
Maybe that means your mind applies a pattern to the cards that relates to your question. Purely psychological, but still a useful exercise if you're willing to be honest with yourself.
Maybe intuition taps into the Akashic Record or something and summons up knowledge of the past, present, and future to answer your question.
Maybe it's a little of both. Either way, tarot can be useful if you're willing to be openminded, and maybe your intent is a little more than just charming e-witches.

Yeah, kinda late but fuarrrk it let me recall my experience.
About 3 years ago I told a female friend to buy me MDMA for a techno festival. Long story short her friend brought it to me and we decided to go for a drink or two as well. First date, we went to a strip club because why not?
Fun night, drank a lot, was hammered and she slept at my place. I was too timid to do anything and so we went out once or twice and I was still acting like a pussy, so she was getting angry and second night she stormed off my place.
Next day she came by my place to chill, I had my deck and I did a reading for her. This is where it gets funny because I did want to get laid but the cards actually mentioned stuff about me and her and whatever. And usually when I read cards I dont ever control what I say, but pretty much I said that she is gonna stay with me for a while and that I want to fuarrrk her etc. (this is also why I like reading Tarot because I usually make people feel like soykaf and say stuff without social filter).
We ended up going at it every day for 3 months. Pussy is a good drug and I made sure to get the dosage I've been missing for the past ~20 years.

Is there a difference?

The "true" spiritual meaning they have is basically to act as symbolic of certain concepts. The most popular correspondence usually ascribed to them is to the tree of life with the Major Arcana representing the pathways between the tree of life's spheres (Usually also represented by a hebrew letter) and the numbers being the ten spheres labelled 1-10, with the four different suits representing elements (Though not so much the literal elements but the spiritual meaning commonly assigned to them.)

I think about tarot like inkblot tests. The cards meanings are projections from the user that can develop an insight that could be seen as enlightening or predicting some event. Really its just some insight that a person couldn't otherwise consciously access on
It's also a cool party trick that chicks in particular seem to enjoy.

I think the value of the "reading" is largely weighed by the person reading it. I mean yeah I acted totally motivated when gothgirl busted them mo-fuarrrkas out cause I was like cool this soykaf just got interesting but after I fuarrrked her, listened to her problems, got high and heard her drone on about the old series called Charmed I pretty much knew what she was all about. Like cool thanks you made me consider myself with all the depth of a horoscope. Thanks for letting me use your toothbrush I hope I'm not the only one.
Maybe if some 900 year old juuish kabbalist read that soykaf I'd be like woa nigga but otherwise eh, theyre just a conversation starters at parties.

Every xkcd-reading Reddit midwit believes this about science, a category of people which includes most of this site. Don't act like occult practitioners are the only people guilty of this.

I used to have a deck downloaded of tarot cards that were in an iconified style of old web graphics, wish i still knew where it was. if i find it again I'll post it here, because it's really pretty.
the interesting application to tarot, at least to me, is how you can pretty much do it with regular playing cards. the history of tarot is also interesting, because the modern decks are basically occult art pieces that evolved from the same source as french suit (the most common type of playing cards) and a few other more obscure suiting arrangements.
As for their occult significance, I think they operate similarly to astrology: create a list of 52 general principles for life that have a combination of recognizeable attitudes, such that all cups have the general vibe of "feelings" and all 7s give the impression of "action or drive, but also mystery".
that way, any card you pull is basically going to give sincere advice that with a little bit of cold (or hot) reading you can make sound hyper-relevant to the situation. I don't mean to demystify or ruin the magic, though.
Another of the most interesting things to me about tarot is how every element of the designs of major (and sometimes minor) arcana actually give a suggestion to what the cards are supposed to represent - this is called the card imaginary. While you can make new tarot designs, many will feel that for new tarot decks to "really work", according to some people, the designs must contain *some* representation of every element. over time, the elements might shift depending on subtle or explicit cultural agendas, which is why new tarot decks are interesting to me.
But my favorite thing to do with tarot decks isn't tarot at all. Rather, it's to use playing cards as tarot cards. the equivalency is very simple, although there's different techniques people have for it. basically you let each suite in tarot cards correspond to one of the 4 french suits, so heart = cups, spade = swords, diamond = pentacles, and wands = clubs. then you just have the numbers correspond to minor arcana, with jack = 11, queen = 12, and king = 13. unfortunately there is no page or major arcana in the playing card set, there is however The Fool - the joker.
I like doing this because its a lot more likely you'll have access to a deck of playing cards, or just seeing them around. if you believe in such signs, you can use the playing cards to read tarot. it also makes for a fun party trick.

Have years of pretty extensive experience with Rider-Waite and with Marseilles Tarot. Its great when you know how to use it, and when you use it for the right kinds of reasons. Tarot can be used for good or ill, and when its used for either its always so for the practitioner. If you use Tarot or any tool of a similar nature for selfish or childish ends its just gonna blow back on you in the end. Most of the culture around Tarot is bunk and bad vibes because of the soykafty things people try to accomplish with the readings and the soykafty choices they made for the cards (as in X card represents Y thing, they should choose the cards to represent something nobler but they often revolve around their base and greedy yearnings).
