Nightmare causes

Does anyone else have certain seemingly normal actions that for you are guaranteed to cause nightmares? For me its sleeping face up. Without fail every time I sleep face up I have nightmares ending in being terrified with some beast or figure standing or snarling over me. Is that normal?

It's totally normal. I know it. because I am the beast standing and snarling over you.

>>3400 Its fairly commonly reported as a cause of sleep paralysis, probably something to do with how it affects your breathing.

Pretty sure that's not normal, OP. When did it start ?
Nobody important · 2020-11-09 00:15
i think you should embrace it. that is the most healthy sleeping position anyways. isn't it better to wake up alert and freaked out than it is to be lazy and loiter around in bed?

>>3401 I can't even Fall asleep face up. >>3411 My vocal coach once told me, that there different "breathing types" as in people who have slightly different habits when it comes to breathing. And one of the differences is, that one type usually prefers sleeping on their back, while the other sleeps on their stomach. Not sure how much of that is actually true and what is pseudoscience, though.

Off topic but if I marathon a cartoon then I see images when I blink. Original ones I think, imagination not afterimages. If I do it long enough before bed then my internal voice changes to their voice which can be a horrifying experience.

>>3400 I have the exact opposite. Lying on my stomach guarantees a nightmare but lying on my back may or may not induce a sleep paralyses indicident.

>>3723 Sleep on side or back up then?
Nameless · 2020-12-07 05:53
>>3400 For me it's eating too much before sleeping. But trying to sleep without going to the bathroom at least 3 times is guaranteed to cause "sleep paralysis".
