Meta-Dreaming

Naomi Nascimento · 2020-04-02 02:21
I had a dreams of revisiting various scenes/places/friends from my life, the usual faire. One of them was with my friend GB, who is a horror geek and loves making models of scary characters. I was hanging out with him in his room, but in the dream some of these characters were alive, but harmless. One of them was a woman who’s face was covered in aged bandages, her hands were bent forward in front of her and shaking, as if looking for something aimlessly. I woke up (in dream still) in the frat bro dorm I got stuck in during college, put on a blanket and walked out the door. I felt exhausted and just wanted to sleep in my own bed. When I walked out, I ended up in a mirror version of the same room, but with minor differences. I had to find the right door to get out. When I got out, I found myself in a big, nice house, at night. I was looking for my room that was presumably in this house. As I wondered through the house, checking rooms, I found that each room was a dream I had already had throughout the night. I had a sort of 4th wall break and realized I was in dream, but not just any dream, I was in the corridors of my consciousness between the dreams. A meta-dream. At this point, my goal had become to find the dream I wanted to be in; getting rest in my own bed. As I searched the doors though, I found less and less dreams or other people. The section of the house I was in had become very empty. I walked up the stairset towards GB’s room, and saw the bandage lady, but outside his room. She was just coming up another set of stairs across from me as I came to the top of mine. At this point, I realized something was NOT right, she wasn’t supposed to be wondering around my subconscious hallways like that, outside her “dream room”. I prepared to kick her down the stairs. I was late. Her arms swung up to grab me, not shaking anymore, and she ran towards me. I grabbed them in defense and woke up.

it's been 6 years, have you seen her since?

(Wow, tfw you read your own post from enough years ago you almost forget it was you) >>8796 I can't say I have, thank goodness. She resembled the characters on that album cover. I've had one or two dreams where I could navigate between like this, but nothing of that caliber again. I think it's the result of years of lucid dreaming. Still very curious if any anons have had remotely similar. No tulpas here (◡ ‿ ◡ ✿)

Relatedly; to any anon's interested in lucid dreaming: It's fun and interesting, but I chose to give up control after enough years. I prefer the surprises now, seeing what my subconscious has to tell me and what insight I can gain from it. We don't always see what we want to see, we see what we need to see.
