Hyperrealistic dreams about one particular person

Ein · 2019-12-13 19:09
Sorry if the topic is too normal person or something or this has already been discussed here, but I keep having dreams about my ex (they broke up w me two months ago) where they say they love me, want to be with me again etc. The weird thing is that the dreams appear only when I actually stop thinking about the person, get busy with other stuff and people. But after I have a dream of that kind it seems my emotional state is back to square one of getting over and the memories of the happy moments in the relationship start 'haunting' me again. I have limited all the contact with the person (even tho it's pretty hard, we have a class together two times a week). At this point it feels like not sleeping at all (or sleeping for 2-4 hours, this way I have absolutely no dreams) is the only solution, but that fuarrrks me up hard. Is there actually any solutions to this problem you know of, lainons? After lurking the board for a little bit lucid dreaming seems like an option (but I'm not sure where to start as the dreams are super realistic and generally I have absolutely never realized I was in a dream, well maybe one time when the dream was reaaaally bizarre)

Weed. I've been smoking for years and I can't recall the last time I dreamed. You do dream but you can't remember any of it when waking up. The last time I dreamed (and I only remembered 10sec of it) was when I smoked way less than usual the night before and slept for way too long (I guess I wasn't high enough to make it last the entire night). I want to add that I'm smoking huge quantities so I don't know if it's the same with just one joint. But I won't recommend it at all. Maybe it can help someone during a short period but it's a real pain in the ass to feel kinda high all day everyday even when waking up. I'm actually trying to stop but when you are used to sleep under the influence it's the hardest. Try sleeping normally for a month. If your mental state is still the same in a month go see a doctor about it. Lot of people don't want help because they think it's only for "crazy people" or people with a huge trauma but it's your best move here. I know people who were in a bad place and now they are even more normal/happy then me just because they had the balls to seek professional help and get over their problems. I hope you the best, anon :)

>>2676 It does work, I've been smoking a small amount of relatively weak hash before bed every night for the last few years and I never recall dreaming. The times I've tried to stop I've had incredibly vivid and emotional dreams

>>2676 Weed destroys your rapid eye movement period of sleeping that dreams are comprised of.

I know it's been two years but for anyone else it's probably better to just push through those feelings as it's the brain processing loss. Weed will just dull your mind and in one way or another you will pay for delaying the healing process.

>>2675 In my case I usually dream about the same person. She is there with me, but her personality usually changes between dreams. She is never an important character, though, and I don't usually interact with her. The thing is that I've never seen her irl, but she's exactly the type of person I like. I usually think about her irl, and I belive it's just a person I saw when I was a kid. Maybe a friend of a relative I knew. I never interacted with her, but her vision was etched into my mind... It is really curious and amusing, but it makes me sad that I'll never be with her.

>>2682 not the same lainon So why does it tend to give me intense and vivid dreams?

>>2675 I would try talking with friends and family about your relationship and the breakup About 6 years ago, I let a girl date me for a month or so without telling her or anyone in my life that I was skipping classes, failing out of college, and generally feeling like a slimy, irredeemable piece of soykaf. I still have very fond memories of the things she said to me, of being around her, of the one time my thoughts spoke my name in her voice, and of the idealized Her that I loved so much, and was so afraid to lose. After seeking some help for various things, and talking about her with some people, I've arrived at the conclusion that I'm happy she broke up with me, who was unwilling to ask anybody for help. She didn't deserve to have her time wasted like that. Why is the idea of Her stuck with you? Is there something that still remains unsaid, or are you continuing to do things you should not be doing? Would you feel comfortable entering a relationship with another woman? I hope you can get some restful sleep in the future.

>>5020 Thank you for replying to my two year old post. I'm not even sure it was me who wrote it, but I vaguely remember posting something similar to this and getting replies similar to ones in this thread, and the time periods specified in the post seem very similar to my situation... Anyway, for anyone who is having the same problem as OP, I have no clear-cut advice, but my issue was that the ex-partner was basically my first 'true friend', someone with whom I could talk about basically anything and all that soapy soykaf. I never had such an experience before, since I was shy and introverted as a kid and teen, typical of Lainchan user. The solution was to: - get deeper into hobbies/interests to not have the enormous amount of free time which allowed my mind to dwell on the past relationship (sometimes unconsciously) - then, using those interests, find some new friends (not easy; but spend some time on it and you will be successful) It worked. Today I'm less socially isolated than ever, best friends with my ex-partner (actual best friends, not the "We can stay friends" bullshit), never have romantic fantasies/dreams about her, and have found another great girl to have a committed relationship with. We're all gonna make it bros.
