I've been having some ultra violent dreams lately.
Most of them involve family members and I am the one doing the gruesome soykaf to them.
Today when I woke up the first thing that popped in my head is that I am going insane.
What do you guys think?

You're fine as long as they're just dreams. Shouldn't hurt you if you talk to someone though. :)

That's not good man. Sounds like you have some issues you need to work out with your family. I get ultra violent dreams all the time, but luckily there are no zombies around I need to work out my issues with

Eh, intrusive thoughts don't necessarily mean anything. If you suspect you are going insane then you most likely aren't. Insane people compulsively come up with complex justifications for their views and actions.
The jury's out on whether or not dreams mean anything at all. Maybe introspect on how you feel about your family, how you'd like your relationship with them to move and change in the future, et cetera. And take actions based on that, such as I dunno maybe moving away from them if that's a practical thing for you to do. Or maybe they're fine and you're fine with them; in that case just ignore the silly dreams. They're just dreams.

I think that's normal - during dreams your critical thinking is turned off, that's why we do things we would never do irl.
It is also called obsessive thoughts - thoughts you don't want to have, but have anyway.
I guess that's a security mechanism of our brains, protecting us from doing such things.
As far as these dreams/thoughts don't lower your life quality drastically, you should just ignore them, but otherwise you should visit a psychologist.
I'm a really emphatic person myself, but I have thoughts/dreams like this about raping, killing, etc.
I can't imagine myself hurting someone, because that would break my heart.
As for dreams I asked my loving friend about such dreams, and she told me she once had beaten her best friend in a dream.
So remember we're just survival machines and our brains are just dumb retard spaghetti and they need those obsessive, disgusting dreams to function properly. No one just talks about these things, because they don't want to be seen as crazy.

the scariest dream i ever had, i was the monster... some kind of humanoid predatory animal in a wooded area stalking nearby unaware humans. so i know how disturbing that is. good news is it never led to any violence or anything. but yeah, it can make you doubt yourself for a while.
