I had a dream where I was back in high school. It made me remember my old friend group and the girl I used to like. I remember having a group hug because one of my friends was really sad about something. I want to go back.
Boris Grishenko · 2019-10-22 23:08
>>2539 We have to move on at some point and start living life. All of those people in your dream who you were friends with and your old crush have moved on. It's time you do the same. There's 8 billion people in the world. You can make friends and lovers out of anyone of them.
!op · 2019-10-23 04:33
>>2540 You should probably reword >You can make friends and lovers out of anyone of them. to something more like >You might make friend or lover out of one of them.
Judge Fang · 2019-10-23 20:55
>>2540 Yeah I know I have to move on but nothing satisfies me anymore. I can't accept it.
The Plague · 2019-10-23 22:34
I really like dreams like this. Going back in time, feeling good, having imagined friends, visiting long time not seen places. It's so surreal, like living someone else's life.
Liet Kynes · 2019-10-24 01:57
>>2544 I share this feeling. So far no solutions, but blow is pretty nice.
Mentat · 2019-11-01 21:49
I have this kind of dreams occasionally, I'm always with the girl I used to like as well, we are doing some dumb and funny things, I always try to get closer to her but she don't notice it
Bob Arctor · 2019-11-25 10:47
>>2539 I understand how you feel perfectly, I have that kind of dream from time to time and it's always deeply nostalgic, even with places that give me anxiety in waking life just from remembering them.
Molly Millions · 2019-11-25 23:51
>>2539 It's even worse when that didn't happen I grew up antisocially in a room with a computer, i learned programming and such really early but i can't remember a time someone really hugged me I don't know if it was poor decisions, wrong environment or if I'm broken in this way that makes me unable to connect. But what if i had anyway, it would be just a memory anyway i don't know
Miho Iwakura · 2019-11-26 02:31
>>2539 Well Lain, at least you were able to experience those things, it's a part of life that we all experience good and bad things and that eventually they all must come to an end eventually, whether you like it or not time moves forward and you can't do anything to stop it.
Cutter · 2019-11-26 02:33
>>2626 >I can't remember a time when someone really hugged me >I grew up antisocially in a room with a computer This hit close to home, nobody has ever hugged me out of their own volition that wasn't family and I spent and still continue to spend almost all of the free time I have in the same room.

>>2539 >>2540 Some will disagree with me, but I think its fair to say they'll never move on -- it's insane to think that those people are gone forever, need to be replaced by the new people, no, those people live on and the people who were once them move on. For that matter, the you of then also lives on -- the you of then will never die, never cease to exist. No matter where you go, he will never cease to exist because his actions are immortal; he's alive. Some might call this sophistry or being too far removed from reality, the academic in the gold tower who convinces himself he must be immortal because of Xeno's paradox, for example. But all I say is that that you never died or stopped existing. If he did, you would not exist. Instead he left you. Just as a theoretical way to at least argue this point to you, if you're reading this and thinking me an idiot -- consider the following: if you were to go back in time, would his consciousness be yours? Just because you exist now, does that mean the thing we called consciousness, ourselves, stopped existing with him? Only existing within the present, leaving you's behind every second? Your dreams are expressions of this fact. Those times in your life have been condensed into forms, perfect forms perhaps. You can't see them or be them because they're probably perfect forms. You'll see expressions of them, like how one sees the expression of the perfect form of a table by seeing a table, but that perfect self is forever obscured. And they never leave you in a sense, for whatever the hell you are is the source of them and the future versions of yourself. The major problem here is that this thing called the present exists, and whatever the hell it is, it ruins all philosophies and religions, if they can be named that is. There is no will, was, has, only is. The present is all we, whatever the fuarrrk we are, is. Don't let that end your past selves, they are still worthy of respect. Trying to give them the present, to be back with them, is unfair; they've played their part, let them rest in their infinite abyss in the plane of ideas and forms. If you could touch them, you would end them, you must accept you are not them, that you merely wish to replace them, then realize how selfish of you, and wretched, to kill a past self, to kill part of "your"self. If you do, you'll feel them as you are impossible to deattach from them, like it is impossible to get rid of the perfect form of a table when considering a table, one you know the source. Pic related is what I see in my dreams often -- but far more often is a black abyss I see with my past selves in it; playing soccer, talking with old friends, talking in the elementary school lunchroom, talking in my high school advisory, etc. Green fields spread out infinitely when I consider the present, my self so far. It's oddly a place I feel like I could die in, and have often seen as the present as well as the end of my life.

I still have a lot of dreams set at my secondary school. I spent 7 years there and I've not been there in four. I've been in education for almost my entire life, but I don't think I've had a dream set in any of the other places I've studied. I can only assume it's because I spent 7 years there. Interestingly, I rarely see the people I went to school with in these dreams.

do you have any hobbies? I'm thinking if i start going to conferences and meetups and such i might find friends to talk to, still it would be weird to hug but at least i would have someone to talk to

I never dreamed of my friend until he died it's weird I hate it but it's the mind dealing with loss I guess.

>>5117 its just mutually beneficial. You get to be eachothers emotional sponge and possibly learn new things. Hollow.
Undisclosed · 2021-12-07 15:16
>>5118 if friendship is hollow then what is not hollow? Whether friendship "means" something or not is completely subjective. You are just venting and would probably say something else were you in a different situation.

>>2626 Opposite happened to me. Instead of learning programming, had social life as a kid. But it's all over now and I regret spending time with my friends when I could have started early with computers and be very skilled now. A lot of it was because of the fear of being labelled as a nerd and everyone around me telling me that I have to go out and I can't spend so much time on my computer.

>>2539 I have the same recurring dreams. I beleive it is my unconsciousness showing me how bad things have gotten, and that these are the things that I am now missing in life. (respect, close relationships, hope, etc.) It is a wake up call to steer things back in that direction and show you how good life could be if you put iin some effort. I also beleive that my uncounsciousness is trying to get me to wake up to the fact that I am currently surrounded by toxic loser npcs.

I have the same dream over and over where I'm back in the military and all my old friends are there. The circumstances are always different, but I always remember the older iterations of the same dream, every single one of them. I always think holy soykaf it's true this time, its actually real and it's not like the others. Another detail is that I'm always out of regulation; wearing civilian pants when while the rest is dress uniform, my T-shift is the wrong color, my hair is too long, I haven't shaved ect ect. I miss my friends. I miss the cool job I had, the amazing things I saw and experienced beyond what anyone here in the grind sees. I didn't have to worry about being alone, not wearing the right thing, not feeling useful or proud of my place. I loved it and put everything I had into it. I maxed out every evaluation period and had a package together to go to the academy. Then one bad week in port and a failed piss test was all it took to make every little shiny piece of plastic that mad me who I was useless. All the superiors who acted like mentors and fathers to me shared their grief in private and threw stones in public because it was ran against what was internally politically convenient for them. I hope I have that dream again tonight. I want to be around a fire with my friends on the beach and feel like the best years are still ahead of me one more time.
