ways to increase your chance to remember your dreams? it's been like that for years, tried some stupid thing long ago, it didn't worked.

>>2522 Put pen and paper next to the bed, before falling asleep repeat in your mind that you're going to remember your dreams, immediately write down what you remembered after waking up. Do it daily for a while and it helps. Alternatively, take Huperzine A for more vivid dreams, which tend to be easier to remember. Not a good idea if you tend to get nightmares.

>>2523 I remember the repeating in your mind thing, but it was a method without writing down what you dreamed about. Might try, thanks

>>2524 One opinion I heard about that is that when you wake up and want to write, you open your eyes and see your room, pen, paper etc. and that itself can put you out of your sleepy state more quickly. If you have one, you may try putting a voice recorder near your bed and grab it instantly after waking up and record what you remember while still keeping your eyes closed.

>>2524 I would recommend you be very fast if you want to remember what happened, you will forget the majority of what you dreamed in under a few minutes.

>>2543 I've tried a bunch of techniques for getting the dream to stay sharp but so far (in my own case at least) the best one is just to stay in bed and go over it a few times in my head and try to memorize it with no tools. Once I have that down I can go type it out at my leisure. Might cause distortions, and once again these things are subjective so what works for one may not be replicable for all

>>2522 Easiest way to remember a dream to sleep a long time. The longer you stay asleep the longer the dream part of your sleep cycle becomes, the more likely you will be to remember the dream. When you awake start to immediately recount the dream, maybe backwards, one scene at a time so that the dream doesn't fade into the aether before you can recount it.
Ivan Petrov · 2019-12-02 21:34
>>2522 I did this and it was nice >>2523 you forget your dreams very quickly because your brain changes chemistry after you wake up, so you gotta put them on paper while you still have sleep chemicals in your head and the brain hasn't purged all the imagery away
Spooky · 2021-02-06 01:18
>>2522 you can write them down that helps with most people
Molly Millions · 2024-03-10 23:00
>>2546 IME so long as I start writing within a minute of waking up it's enough to "lock in" the memory long enough to write down 80-100% of what happened.

>>2639 Keith Richards said he found "Satisfaction" one morning on his tape recorder that he kept by the bed. He had dreamed the whole thing, made a crude recording, and gone back to sleep without even remembering he did it.

>>2522 What I found useful is to wake up in the middle of the night, like put an alarm clock at 0400, and go back to sleep after. I use mostly this technique and write down my dreams after le "real" wakeup in the morning. With this technique I'm able to remember much more dreams than before :>
nuarisu · 2024-04-15 18:18
Maybe instead of having a pen and paper beside your bed, just use your phone and record your voice narrating the dream backwards.
Zero Cool · 2024-04-18 20:26
>>6864 Totally this, anytime I wake up twice I recall many more dreams. You can stack this technique and wake up a few times, collecting lots of dreams. I've done it in as quick as 15 minute intervals between sleep and waking, a few times in a row. Another trick I found: if you DON'T open your eyes when you wake up, you'll be able to hold onto your memories of the dream for longer than normal. I've kept a dream journal next to bed and practiced taking notes with my eyes closed.

>>2546 Something I've noticed is that even extremely rough notes extend the ability to remember a dream significantly, like it creates a pointer to the memory. So if I write down one or two words that evoke each segment of the dream to start, then I have more time to fill in the details.

I like to draw lil objects that i remember from my dreams when i take notes. and i try to put as many applicable adjectives as possible. doesn't matter if it feels like it wasn't in the dream. put it in. I won't remember and will assume it will be all in the dream later. Also where's that gif in OP from? it feels familiar.

I seemed to recall my dreams more when taking a supplement with huperzine A in it but it was nightmares and this was causing me to have trouble sleeping sometimes too. Id recommend if you do this to cycle it on and off not take it every day or your body will adapt to it.

I like to type out what I remember from certain dreams that I have in a simple text file and save it in my dream journal directory. I don't always remember to log my dreams but I do log the ones that stick out the most to me. I'm not a great artist, but I sometimes draw out things from my dreams in GIMP (like a giant telescope with infinite zoom capabilities where the eyepiece was just a big 40-foot diameter stargate). I dream most nights so it's impossible to remember every one of them. Often, I forget the details shortly after waking up. There are some dreams that I will remember forever (there's one dream I vaguely remember when I was 5yo). Lucid dreams are great too. I remember having my first lucid dream around 5 or 6yo, but it wasn't until 15 years later I started having them more often.

>>2522 Some herbs also help. Depending on your location, they can be gathered in nature, just make sure it is the right plant. I used mugwort as a tea and I have also smoked it. It also makes the dreams more vivid and can even add new senses such as smell or taste to your dreams.

Your Dreams is a simulator of future. In other moment, is a simulator of old history. If you cat conclusion of pass, and cat conclusion of dream and conclusion of actuality, your never lose nothing.

Supposedly, humans dream every time and it is just we do not remember it. How would combat my case? The moment I wake up, I do not remember any dream. This makes it seem that I did not have a dream. Which I think very much is the case. If I do not remember something nor feel that there was even anything, then it is safe to say there was nothing. But this would mean I only have dreams once a month. So how to increase amount of times I dream?
