Theory, the dreams that follow each other.

I observed on the net, testimonials where people are subject to dreams that follow each other but not in one night, on several nights at different days. I myself am experiencing this, I searched the internet I found absolutely paranormal theories to explain this phenomenon. So I developed my theory: I think it's an illusion, most people think that when we dream our perception and mental state change but there is one thing we hear little is the effect on memory.I think that when we experience a "continuous dream" ,there are in our dream we have kind of artificial past that are created.for example, your dream is that you are in court for a crime and in the case of a "continuous dream" you have created artificially the memory of your crime .(for the illusion to work, the scene of the court must be far removed the crime in our memory). This is how when you wake up you have the impression that two dreams follow each other while only one exists and the other is only memory.which gives the illusion of continuity. What do you think of my theory? Is this someone have newspaper where he writes all his dreams to contradict / confirm what I say?

I have experienced this too, returning to dream scenarios. What's weird is that often they are spaced months or even years apart. I have to contradict you here though because I vividly remember having those initial dreams and then returning to them. The first dream was as real as the second, and not the same as the "phantom dreams" you were describing where the brain conjures up events that would chronologically precede that dream. My theory would be that the same conditions that triggered the dream in the first place have recurred in real life, so your brain returns to that dream but obviously with some slight changes. Maybe the first dream happened after you spilt your coffee on that woman at work. Then the second happened months later when you tripped on the train platform and everybody laughed. The emotional thread (here, embarassment) could theoretically cause the brain to remember that old dream and "replay" it, or continue it.

Theres about a dozen or so distinct areas I come across in my dreams and all scenarios that play out in them are similarly recurring. Each time the same areas are encountered familiarity increases and there is more control of what is happening. Not so much a continuation of the previous dreams, but just hitting the replay button.

>>2111 Interesting theory, but easily refuted by referring to a dream journal of someone experiencing such dreams

I think I've had the OP model happen but I've also had the actual serial dream system happen, evidenced by notes. Also dreams where i.e. you find yourself in court. What am I here for, you wonder, and then the dream jumps back in time and you see what happened. maybe it wanders incoherently from there....

>>2175 i've been having a lot of dreams like that as of late. i've always noticed even when i was a child that there were areas in my dreams that would re-appear and stay somewhat consistent. but i've been having these dreams so often nowadays that i could possibly create a map of this dream universe area. more specifically for my experience the area in which these dreams take place are local cities and places i've been to, even some being a combination of cities.
