Dream Collection

Just another Random Lainon · 2018-11-04 10:28
How many dreams have you written down, anon? Are you going to become the next Barb Sanders, collecting over 4000 dreams? (www.dreambank.net has all of them) I personally have around 700 collected, but only started recording dates around three years ago. Since january of 2017 I have done some serious dream collection, resulting in almost 600 dreams written down. I hope to reach that 600 mark by the end of this year. The plot shows the cumulative amount of dreams I wrote down over time. I remember all dreams when I read them back, the way it felt et cetera. It's strange because even though dreaming is such a daily thing in my life, and my dream-file helps me notice patterns in my dreams, I have never really had a lucid dream. Show me your dream collections!

Only six over the past week, and six more just last night. I want to write them down but it is so time consuming to try and remember all the details, not to mention that the six might just be ten or two, I have no idea. They were so messy.

Only around 100 in about a year. My trick is to write them down immediately after I wake up, because that's when the details are still vivid, but that doesn't always agree with my schedule. Sometimes I wake up at 3 AM, or I oversleep and have to rush to meet an appointment. I've also found that not every dream is worth writing down. If I stick to the more interesting ones, I'm more likely to revisit my journal later and actually get something out of it.

>>1682 Does writing down your dreams increased the amount of dreams you can remember? I can remember like one dream in a 3 months and it scares me as I used to dream a lot when I was kid. I would love to bring my dreams back :/

>>1686 For me it immediately did. When I started in january of 2017 I just had this spike of dreams after not having remembered many. Do you remember having hypnagogic thoughts just before falling asleep? Remembering those (even if they are boring) can help as well.

>>1688 If I understand correctly, hypnagogic thoughts means just any thoughts I have before falling asleep? I definitely have them, but I don't remember them often after waking up.

I would say more than 500 but less than 1000. >>1686 >Does writing down your dreams increased the amount of dreams you can remember Yeah definitely. For me, however, the problem is that some of my dreams are so mundane, that I have trouble remembering if something happened or if I dreamt it. For example, my flatmate asked me to buy him gold spray paint. Then I dreamt that he had asked me to buy red paint. When I finally got to the store, I couldn't remember which was the real memory and which was the dream memory

Although I dream every day, I mostly fail at remembering them when I get up, let alone remembering enough to write down. How do you approach writing down dreams and remembering them better? Do small steps help like just writing down anything or do you have to sleep next to a notepad to manage anything?

Just under 100. Pretty pathetic. My problem is that I can't remember to record my dreams consistently. I'll be on a streak of like 5 days in a row, then something will happen one morning (like getting up late or something) and I don't have time to write before I forget. And then I can't remember to write for a good few weeks.

>>1682 I almost never dream anymore, I stopped when I started taking medication. I loved my dreams and even the nightmares, I wish they'd come back.

ive been keeping a dream journal since 2017 as well, i should have more written down but theres big gaps in my journals due to drug use/abuse stopping my dreams in 2018 though.

I just dreamed I was running from someone then was stopped by a young looking policeman in plain clothes and old style like 70s, pulled a gun on me and I turned to face a wall whilst dropping a circuit board out of my pocket and on to the ground. I feel like I have too many to write down but some I do.

I had filled four notebooks, about twenty loose pages, and some text files, probably containing something between five-hundred and seven-hundred dreams, but I shredded and deleted all of them. If I had a neater record-keeping system I wouldn't have minded keeping them, but the notebooks piling up got kind of depressing to look at.
