I'm going to die in a car crash
Netrunner · 2018-07-15 04:20
For years now I have had dreams of riding in the passenger seat and getting in cat accidents. It has progressed to the point where I have these dreams on average of 3 times a week, sometimes nearing every night. It has been at this point for about 2 years now.
The worrying thing is that every dream shares very similar qualities. -
In every dream I'm going around either a "roundabout" or around a harsh curve on the highway. It is always raining or snow covered, and always in my hometown.
There have been 2 times now where we have nearly went off of the road like this, and I truly believe that these dreams are warning me of my death.

>getting in cat accidents
>cat accidents
what could be the meaning of this?

Ah, it took time for me to understand that he meant car.

You've clearly never owned a cat if you don't know what cat accidents are.

I used to have recurring dreams of being in car accidents where the car would swerve off a road and end up in water. First I would wake up before hitting the water and as the recurring dreams would progress I started waking up after hitting the water and then after hitting the water and learning how to get out of the car and surviving.
not helpful to you but thought I'd share it. Maybe our dreams are teaching us to avoid these situations

I experience the same issue I've had two different kinds of dreams, my dad died trying to save us in a car crash and me dying in a separate car crash were I was driving
Last year in July my father went off the side of the road and was impaled by a tree I still think about him every night and wonder if I will meet the same fate

could OP mean running cats over / trying to avoid? i read it as an ethical question.

I don't know soykaf about psychology but Freud said that the purpose of a dream is to fulfill some wish but it's usually deeper than what you see in that dream but he was a crazy guy. Maybe you should see a psychiatrist? They might help you understand that dream better

I completely understand, but that's not your mind warning you; its subconscious fear based on repressed experience( repressed meaning not thinking about it often i mean).
I have a similar experience:
>be me
>19 year old guy practicing alchemy
>experimented with lots of psychedelics and practiced meditation and alchemy for 3 years at this point
>reads immense amounts of religious and spirtitual texts and occult grimoires
>starts having reaccuring dream about being beaten and crucified in front of lots of people
>have this dream for over a year frequently and starts to seriously mess with me mentally; dream occurs atleast 3 times a week
>be 20
>have crazy bad trip on mushrooms and end up breaking down everything i know to be true after the comedown
>realize that the truth is Jesus Christ
>go to sleep and have a dream understanding what the dream meant
The point is that your mind is trying to tell you something personal about yourself and is trying to process subconscious fear. Really try to pay attention to the dream next time you have it (i.e listen to the conversations in your dream, look at your surroundings, try to understand how you feel in the dream mentally or try to understand your thought process in the dream, ect.). My dream was a subconscious realization that my life was going downhill and that my mind was destroying itself because i never got over the death of my mother, so i used drugs and magick to try and understand what life was about, without actually living it. Thats why i would see my mom in the crowd crying in my dreams and why my thought process in the dream was about me being a failure but accepting it as reality. Me being crucified was a representaion of my soul crying out for forgivness and salvation in Jesus Christ.
I would recommend studying psychology, it really helps with asking yourself the right questions to break down the barriers of your own fears and bias. Hope this helps and that you figure out what your dreams mean!

I always reckon it's whatever you haven't thought of that will kill you. There is a reasoning but mostly superstition at the end of the day

I would start drifting like initial D and try to provoke the reaper's big skeletal gaze over myself
just make sure you're going fast enough to die properly
Boris Grishenko · 2022-05-14 20:32
I kinda figure most dreams are places to try things out. Maybe for fun. Maybe because you're anxious about how you'd react. Then, if you think a dream makes something more likely then it makes you more anxious about it and then you start dreaming about it more.
I don't think you've actually connected to a source of future sight anon. I think you created an anxiety feedback loop. Look up statistics on what you're likely to die from and chill a bit.
Gyula Kovacs · 2022-05-14 20:42
you had the dream once, maybe a few times, now when you go to sleep you're subconsciously expecting this dream. it's a self-fulfilling prophecy lain, nothing to worry about
also generally worth noting that dreams tend to be symbolic? i think the crash, the passenger seat, the hometown... it all seems pretty easy to read into if you'd like to take it that way.
my superstitious side tells me that if you're having the same dream over and over, there's something something or someone (you?) is trying to get through to you that you refuse to listen to. take time to sit in it.
be well lain!

The earliest dream I have is me 5 or 6 years old in my bed seeing a huge eyeball staring at me, and it was weirdly wrapping around my brain and making me feel unpleasant things I still cannot describe. Interestingly enough after that my atheistic mother became very superstitious because apparently I described an evil eye that you usually wear as a charm, and before that she had been cursed and our life was getting pretty rough. She told me about that only 15 years later.

>In every dream I'm going around either a "roundabout" or around a harsh curve on the highway
I have scary car dreams too and they are always visceral; not the kind where you are watching yourself in a movie or video game but where I can physically feel the forces on my body. Have you considered there might be a physiological component here? You always feel centrifugal motion, maybe you are experiencing some vertigo or inner ear disturbance and the dream translates it into a certain motion? Like when you hear a noise in your sleep and your brain comes up with a dream to explain it.
The other thought is, do you drive in waking life? Very often? Sitting in the passenger seat very clearly emphasizes a lack of control so if you are looking for some Freudian explanation, it's probably that. Nothing to do with death at all.
Spooky · 2022-05-15 16:23
Maybe read Man and His Symbols by Jung and interpret the dream some other way.
>cat accidents
WTF lainons, don't you see it was a typo? He's meant to type CART accidents. Missed an r. Just to be safe, don't go to the supermarket.

You want 999 replies pointing out the same typo, or what? That's a very reddit thing to do, you should go back.

When I was young, I had a reoccurring dream in which the world would grow patches of blackness and a giant hell-hound would appear and rip me apart- whether I ran or juked or fought. I learned eventually to run strait at it and shove my head in its mouth so I could die and wake up. Thinking back there was a german shepherd guard dog that had ripped a neighbor girl’s nose off a few years prior to me having these dreams and I imaigne I’d picked up on it. I think our mind needs something to worry about at times and latch onto whatever best fulfill this need. Since scary things in our lives often ARE deadly, these dreams can be predictive, but it’s just a coincidence- otherwise the billion dollar insurance companies or nation states would take advantage of this.
I won’t be killed by a hellhound-that’s for sure- but my death will inevitably be caused by greater forces than myself which I cannot effectively oppose. The same goes for this site. The self replicating memes which invariably infected reddit, 4chan, and a million other long forgotten forums and clubs will one day destroy this site. Its structure is not significantly different from these, and the psychological needs the posters of these sites fulfill through their posting styles exist just the same in ourselves.
I don’t have a solution, but thank you for the postive post, and for letting me post this one.

>my death will inevitably be caused by greater forces than myself which I cannot effectively oppose
Nicely haunting sentiment.
I guess I may as well write up the two reoccuring nightmares I had as a kid here eh?
One I had featured a bunch of horses pulling a wagon and then falling off a cliff and getting hurt. Somehow they re-harness themselves to be 2 by 2 and this fixed things so they could keep going but then they fell of another cliff! Evenually they're all in a row pulling this wagon and then they fall of a cliff and die. The horses were made of felt.
The other was set up like a gameshow. There was a prize in this hole with water in it. Someone would come and stick their arm in to try to grab the prize and their arm would be cut off. The next participent would no longer be trying for the prize but would try to retrieve the arm of the last participent. This would go on indefinitely and you would be shamed if you pointed out that participants should stop trying to retrive arms. "You don't want them to get their arm back???"
I guess both of them are kinda about forseeing doom and being unable to prevent it. I don't have either of those dreams anymore that I can remember, but still have lots of dreams of dying in various ways.
A memorable car one, I left my car in neutral in a parking spot and it coasted off the lot down a hill in the woods and a branch went through the windshield and through my chest. The sensation of sitting there with my bloodflow stopped and my conciousness fading was harrowing.
Recently I died in a warzone for the first time that I recall. I was too poor to leave effectively and too stupid and discontent to take shelter so I walked around and eventually got talking to and following a soldier. (I don't think this makes sense I know) anyway, soldier gets ambushed and I get shot and die.. duh.
Dying from cardiac arrest after an electric shock is a spooky if you wake up with your heart racing!

Chill the fuarrrk out nigger,
1. We all die
2. You choose your death
3. You won't die before you do what you cane here to do
4. The only reason your death (c/)would be violent or unpleasant is because you keep worrying that it will be
