Has anyone noticed after using vr for a prolonged period they gain lucid control in dreams easier? I purchased a soykafty vr headset at target and found after trying the most realistic vr videos (ironically vr porn) I realized I've gained lucidity at some point in my dreams every day this week. Going to try doing some vr immediately before bed tonight to confirm. Something about it being so real, but JUST off of reality enough that I fully know it's vr carries over well to dreams I think. Almost like a trainer.

how can she smoke that cigarette with the helmet on though?
HELIOS · 2017-11-05 01:21
>>695 There is a port at the base where the cigarette can be inserted, which is like kicking dead whales down the beach the smoke in and injects it into the mouth.

>>694 In a dream, you create and experience an approximation of reality, simultaneously. Maybe VR allows you to focus on the experience part, which allows for a more practiced form of dreaming. Your body becomes used to perceiving a reality in which your physical body isn't present

>>694 I get this sensation when playing a new game or getting really into something for the first time. Maybe you were just really excited. Don't let the excitement fade.

I love using VR and feel it influences my dreams more than being able to control them, though iv'e been able to lucid dream for around 14 years and found that meditation before bed works much better.
Yet Another Lainon · 2022-03-31 12:24
why would anyone want to control their dreams when uncontrolled are useful tool to communication with the external world?
Gyula Kovacs · 2022-03-31 17:03
>>5314 Well you can do what ever you want, you basically become god of your own reality for a few hours but you don't have to do it every night. The more you're able to lucid dream in my experience makes your regular dreams last longer and more vivid which is also pretty cool.
Bobby Newmark · 2022-04-01 14:47
>>5316 You become false god in his own imaginary realm, for the price of being distracted from path leading to discovery of drops of true godhood present in all humanity. Why should I be entertained by such simulacrum, like if I were in rebellion against my own humanity in material world and desired just escape to the world of illusion?

>>694 I don't dream very often, so I can't comment on that, but VR has made my spatial awareness much better. Since your vision is restricted and weakened, you are much more reliant upon your memory and hearing. On top of this, you often need to be able to accurately place your narrow cone of vision onto a small target instantly, meaning you have to be able to learn the positions of what you aim to look at from sound alone. Perhaps, with vision and visual imagination being such mentally straining processes, your ability to control dreams comes from your newfound ability to understand your surroundings without looking at them. Once you understand your environment, it may be harder for the unconscious mind to sneak in new elements without your noticing.

>>5320 I don't see it as an escape though, I go to sleep as much as any other person would. I love the real world and have done and seen many things, how is going to sleep and controlling whats happening paying a price?

>>4945 OP didn't say that they were dreaming about the content of some VR game (or porn, yeesh) but instead they felt like the headset acted as a primer for lucid dreaming.
Yu-ichi · 2022-04-09 20:21
>>5323 Lets all love gondola ====XD But speaking of gondola, it is fascinating how he transformed from a caricature of the simplistic humor used by new users on a Finnish forum into an embodiment of naivety faced with the harshness of reality.

When I got my first VR headset in 2017, I would wake up for weeks thinking my hands were only their visual representations as controllers from within VR space, and I'd get up and put my palms up to the wall and brush the texture with my fingertips saying to myself, "How can I feel with these?? It seems so real!!", and about 30 seconds into that I would stop myself suddenly and come to lucidity, thinking, wtf am I doing right now. Of course I can feel, these are my hands, that's wild.
