Obtaining what once lost

For most of my life I didn't dream. Not often at least, once or twice a month I would have a dream of a rudimentary task like vacuming, or riding an endless school bus route. It wasn't until I was 22 a year back that I started reading the Sandman series by Neil Gaiman. I had been doing quite a bit of lsd, and disassociatives for over half a year before this so I know they weren't the reason, but it was about halfway through the graphic novels I started dreaming for the first time since I was a child. I could communicate with my subconcious again, not for the best at the beginning, there was a lot I had to work through. Now through I frequently remember my dreams, and sometimes control them. Has anyone here experienced anything similar?

After exploring multiple ways to induce a lucid dream or astral project, I've found a better memory for dreams to have been a side effect. It doesn't happen as often as I'd like, but it's still far better than before.
