What is your view on sleeping pills?

personally, most sleeping pills I buy on shelve don't work, the only sleeping pill that works for me is actually a allergy repellent pill, cant remember the name though.
Roger Pollack · 2017-07-06 00:16
I have Atarax to help me get some sleep. It's a prescription pill everywhere afaik. It's good, but I kind of tend to have little to no dreams while on it.
I don't have any strong opinions against them. I have my reasons to use my pills and I don't think that is going to change anytime soon
Roy Batty · 2017-07-06 01:58
Tea is better, in my opinion. There's a recipe here >>>/drg/197

never taken pills, have taken melatonin and valerian with pretty good results though. haven't noticed any change with dreams though.

When I was 14/15 I took half a bottle of sleeping pills from the medicine cabinet in my house and took about 2 or 3 a day. Made me feel a little "high" but obviously fell asleep an hour or 2 after.

I think it's ironic that melatonin
despite (rightly) being considered the most "natural", least invasive/habit-forming and drug-like of all the sleep aids
is the only hormone available OTC

I take melatonin nightly, with the goal of countering melatonin suppression due to blue light exposure. I have also recently started taking magnesium glycinate since I wasn't getting much from my diet.

I'm terrified that I'll become dependent on sleeping pills and lose my natural ability to sleep. And the one time I really couldn't sleep for four days straight, pills didn't even help. They just made me tired but I was already tired as soykaf, my problem was I was so stressed I couldn't fall asleep, not that I wasn't tired.

I took melatonin religiously up to 15mg a night for 3 years straight and quit cold turkey pretty easily.
There will be about a week where your body has broken sleep but after that youll be fine.
The best thing you can do to make sure you are sleeping well is get up early and follow a schedule across your day.
Hiro Protagonist · 2018-08-07 17:59
I've been using zopiclone for years now. It's the only thing preventing me from going mad.
Meddler · 2018-08-07 23:13
I take a low dose of Quetiapine (Seroquel) (50-100mg) to put me to sleep when my mind is racing and I can't fall asleep.
>why the fuarrrk can't I get manic episodes in the middle of the day
Anyone take this? Also I know a ton of people take Melatonin but, other than producing the most mindfuck horror dreams I ever had, I've heard it's unhealthy to regularly take it?
Jane Doe · 2018-08-09 01:49
Be aware of the dose response curve of melatonin. I've heard it described as an upside down U shape. Often the amount in a single pill is more than the recommended beginning dose, and the efficacy may fall the more you take, until you hit some point where you're taking a lot. Which isn't harmful, but also isn't needed.
Hong, Guil Dong · 2018-08-09 01:50
Upside down U? I'm a moron. A normal U, with a little hill working up to the low dose side of the U.

Interesting to me that most people here haven't taken any sleeping pills harder than melatonin - i guess /zzz/ is for people who sleep and sleep a lot hey. not me, can't sleep for soykaf - have pretty good sleep habits too (sleep 'hygiene' my doctor called it); avoid blue lights, good bed time, no caffeine past midday etc. but I just can't beat the insomnia. >inb4 your natural remedies, I've tried them.
I took 10mg of valium for a while, and it worked for a few nights then stopped working. Then I was prescribed 10mg of temazepam, which was much more reliable, but would work only for 6 hours exactly - so that if I took it at 10PM I would invariably wake up at 4AM and not be able to fall back asleep, which with my schedule is less than ideal. More recently, the 10mg hasn't been enough to get me even to fall asleep, so then I started taking 20 and sometimes 30mg to get the same result until I told my doctor this and he refused to refill my script. He also says he refuses to move me onto anything else without consulting a psychiatrist, which I think is fishy, because I've had friends have zero problem attaining heavier sedatives from their GPs.
For the past maybe 3 or 4 months I've been getting drunk or high in order to fall asleep and those work, albeit imperfectly.
Today a friend gave me some of their ambien and I am going to try 10mg of that tonight. Will report back, perhaps.

Ive been taking h5tp before bed 400mg

I take 500mg (not for sleep). I've gotten so used to it that it doesn't help me sleep, just makes me feel a little sedated 24/7

I slept well, woke up for around 30-40 minutes around 4AM, but fell back asleep. Woke up again bang on 8AM - should have got out of bed then, because i went back to sleep until 10 and then spent the rest of the day feeling groggy. It's almost 9PM now and I still feel a little crap, but not sure if that's the ambien or just my soykafty lifestyle. In general though it was good. >>1475

What do you guys think about zolpidem and its hallucinogenic effect?

I want some but I'm afraid I'd like them too much.

One of most vivid hallucinations I have ever experienced. I have never been prescribed a z-benzo and only took them recreationally and they can be quite fun. The first time I took it was the only time I got really strong hallucinations though, I am not sure why it never happened again.
The first time I took it was at 10pm with the intention of staying up and getting trippy. I was just sitting in my room hitting weed out of a vape until the effects started. First thing I noticed was the shadow people in the corner of my vision (of course). But they gradually made their way into my normal FoV, something I have never had happen since despite seeing them again during stim binges. I spent a while watching the shadows on the wall seem to rise up into humanoid shapes. And finally the all time strangest hallucination I have ever experienced happened (and to be clear I have used nearly 70 different substances including 15+ psychedelics so this is quite unique). My depth perception got reversed. I would be looking at my TV and my brain would think it was closer than the corner of the wall it was sitting in. The floor appeared closer than my feet. My hands seemed farther away than the wall they were in front of.
It's impossible to grasp really because it just makes no sense. Its not like my vision actually changed, just my perception of it. The only thing more weird than that hallucination was Salvia for me.

I was prescribed melatonin. I still have like half a sheet. They're only 2mg each though.
I've had some really strange and vivid dreams (none of which i can remember at the moment however).

I also found this strange. i realised if we can sythesize melatonin surely we can synthesize serotonin?
And like isn't that what drugs like MDMA and LSD do - cause the brain to release serotinin (among other things)? I'm probably completely wrong but wouldn't serotonin pills give you a similar 'high'?

Been so fuarrrking long on it, it was super effective. It made me retarded and made me sleep 12 hours every day. I then changed therapy and suffered the strongest insomnia of my life. Now I take it only if my bipolar hits me real low but mostly i try to avoid it and enjoy experiencing how soykafty staying awake feel.

I've taken a lot of zolpidem(ambien) and zopiclone when I had very bad trouble with sleep.
Right now I take clozapine which helps 95% of the time.

For what reason you take clozapine?
