Has anybody ever experienced getting stabbed in a dream before? How does it feel? I've been stabbed a couple of dreams and every time it just feels like when you poke a bad bruise.

i got mugged by some guys with knives, started carrying a knife after that. for a while, i had consistent night terrors where i'd get stabbed; it's generally either moderately painful or the fear wakes me up immediately. twice recently when attempting lucid dreams, i've lost control and had sleep paralysis while a girl in my peripheral vision approaches my bed and stabs me in the back. the first time i was in pain for a few minutes before fully waking, whereas the next time a few days later i fully awoke at the moment of penetration.

I have been. I was stabbed and my sternum broke to accommodate the knife. In my chest if felt excruciating, like I had swallowed a sharp crisp and it had stuck in my throat except in my chest cavity, and turned up to 11.

>>228 I would describe it for me like this as well. Just an uncomfortable 'there'ness. Being slashed is more painful for me. I imagine if you've never been stabbed it is more like the former, but if your body knows what to expect then it would be as you'd expect.

I've been stabbed only once in a dream. I was at the metro and some guy came up to me and went for it. I instantly collapsed, kind of seized up and felt extreme terror, but when it was over I got to wander around as a spooky ghost which was cool.

I've "woke up" in dreams after having organs harvested, had limbs amputated, had my body mangled and otherwise torn apart. Had a dream where my D was cut off, and had the awful sensation of hoping it was really a dream. I occasionally feel pain in dreams, but in general, it's just a strong sensation of presence as something stabs in, cuts through, detaches, whatever. Sometimes it's a strong tingling like when your leg has fallen asleep, sometimes it's more blunted. Sometimes it's white hot pain without the pain. I have trigeminal neuralgia and peripheral nerve damage otherwise. After many years it is not surprising that my psyche doesn't bother with the notion of pain.

nobody is on this thread anymore and i know this but: once i had a sequence in a dream where i was a young boy with black hair and was tortured by these two teachers in a university. it was something i had become used to, as they would torture me every single day for their own pleasure. they would make me lay out the clear plastic tarp on top of the metal examination table myself, make me set out the tools. they would break my ribs and cut me open and shove shards of glass inside me, then stitch me back up. they would take me eyes out and fill the empty sockets with sand. they broke my spine. at the end of the dream i became a bird and tried to fly away from them but they cut off my wings, so i took some cardboard and tried to glue them to my limp body to get away from them.
Yuki Nagato · 2017-07-23 05:47
It's happened a few times, but only once did I experience pain. For the first half second or so I just felt the pressure. The odd, rapid...vibration? that the blade makes as it tore me open. Before I knew it, every square inch the blade had made contact with began to give a severe burning sensation and throb with my rapidly increasing heartbeat. Despite the pain in my abdomen I concurrently felt liquid dribbling down my legs, forcing the realization I am mortal, and likely going to die... It fills you not only with crippling physical pain, but overwhelming mental anguish, that right there, you will most likely cease to exist. ...I promptly proceeded to wake up my girlfriend as my scream manifested itself seamlessly from my dream into meatspace, lying in a puddle of cold sweat.
Wired · 2017-07-24 06:42
I mainly have nightmares and night terrors (on medication for it but it barely helps) but every bad thing that happens in my dreams I feel. Anything painful or traumatic I've experienced I feel replicated, and anything I haven't experienced (for example, being sliced in half from the front back to the spine and someone ripped me entirely apart) is replicated in the way my brain thinks it would feel. Sleeping is like kicking dead whales down the beach usually.

Whilst I don't know how a real stab would feel, the syringe dream was super realistic based on memories from bad experience with doctors. So I just guess your brain either remembers or tries to extrapolate the pain. To my luck I at least could woke up in cold sweat with my heart racing before having to dream whatever would happen next. I get these after violent movies or reading literature where someone has to go through similar things.

I don't know about a dream specifically, but I have been stabbed in what I can only imagine was a false awakening. I woke up in my room but could hardly move at all, and I remember seeing a dark figure out of the corner of my mind coming towards me then picking up and putting me in my laundry hamper then stabbing me multiple times. It was excruciatingly painful, and the worst part was that the context did not seem so far fetched as to mean I definitely wasn't awake. In the moment, I 100% believed my house was getting broken into, and I murdered.

Been stabbed in a dream. Felt like a sharp burning sensation. Far less painful than being stabbed IRL. Also, shot in a dream. Felt like my insides were being ripped up, woke up immediately. Shot IRL: Felt the concussion and didn't feel the pain immediately. When it hit it was sore pulsing "raw nerve" pain. Blood was very warm -- hotter than piss, and greasy. So dark it was almost black, dries brown quite quickly, not bright red like in movies. I have no idea why dreaming of being injured feels different than actually being injured, esp. after knowing the experience IRL. >>1258 Iridescent. Data side of laser disks (CDs, DVDs, etc). I had the most marking dream about stabbing. So I got stabbed, I don't remember by who or why I got stabbed and it hurt a lot, not instantly but it hurts. So I fall on the ground while my girlfriend is yelling and crying, I realize what is happening but I can't be bothered to react. People rush over, I start to feel weak, it hurts less. I feel like I fading and the ambulance arrives, I know it's of no use anyway so i tell my girl it's alright, everything will be okay so she starts sobbing and screaming. The pain fades but so does everything else, everything becomes hazy the doctor tells me to stay with him but i'm not listening, it's like he's miles away, everything becomes foggy and darker, darker darker. I feel quite good actually and i'm okay with what's happening. And when i slip away into everlasting death i wake up like in the movies, wet from sweat gasping for air and i'm confused as fuarrrk. Everything felt so fuarrrking real every detail seemed correct. That was one of the strangest dreams ever, I'm almost certain that's what dying feels like, of course I can't prove it to myself without committing suicide. I don't know what to think about it but i'm happy i had that dream, it changed me for the better.

I was stabbed in the thigh by some fetal alcohol syndrome asshat in Middle School with a pencil but it was nothing too serious. I also accidentally cut myself with a folding knife resulting in me having to get stitches on my thumb. I still have the scar. From that day on out which was back in 2013, I decided to always better inspect a folding knife before using it since the blade was not locked properly and it traveled down into my thumb. I also decided that fixed blade knives are better despite being less compact and that it would help to wear safety gloves if possible.

I once had a dream where in I encountered what appeared to be a buddhist monk dressed in orange robes. The monk stabbed me in the left side of my chest with a spear. It was extremely painful. I yelled at the monk and admonished him for his unprovoked assault. He laughed at this and mimicked my admonishments in a pantomime of sorts. As he didn't continue to attack, I had pause to inspect the bloody wound and upon seeing a portion of my rib cage exposed joined him in laughter for reasons I could not understand. Upon reflection, I took this to be an initiatory experience of a sort.

i was stabbed in a dream once. It felt like a bubble around my body was punctured and my life's essence was rushing out of this hole. Not just the blood pouring out but energy. As this energy/life force poured out I became weaker and weaker like sinking to the bottom of a pond. I think this is what being stabbed in real life may feel like.

Yes. I was coming back home one night and i got stabbed by some guy trying to rob me. I don't remember any pain, i think the dream was more about dying than getting stabbed. I was surprised and sad as i fell to the ground, "i can't believe this is it, i'm really going to die, this really is the end". Funny how dreams are the only time i've felt like that, unique experiences like that could change your perspective, even if they are not real.

I saw a symbolic dream where I was stabbed in the back (literally) in a sacrificial manner, surrounded by 11-14 hooded, black-caped figures. I had the misfortune of being caught in the middle of a fierce battle between two opposing factions. After the dust had settled, I woke up and shook off all the limbs of dead people, abandoned shields, broken pikes, swords and rubble that were laying on top of me. After I managed to stand up, I noticed I was thoroughly covered in dust, badly bruised and exhausted. While I stood there standing, I was approached by a figure covered by a black hood and cape. I grapped one of those broken pikes as my walking cane, and he walked me towards a wooden podium of sorts. As we approached the podium, the figure next to me whispered in my ear "... you will make us gods." When we got to the podium, I was gently raised up to the podium, left to lean upright upon these armrests that stood on both sides of the podium. As I stood there, suddenly a dozen or so of these black-covered figures surrounded and formed a circle around me. Then one of the figures said "you will feel a sharp pain in your back, and you will slowly start to sink into a state of unconsciousness, and finally detach yourself from the world." Right after he finished his sentence, I began to fall slowly backwards. As I fell, I managed to catch a glimpse of the figures around me, and I realized that they had all stabbed themselves in their stomach out of their own volition, and that they were all collapsing forwards alongside me. I kept falling and falling, first beyond the sky and finally beyond the stars...

When I was a kid I had a recurring nightmare. In my neighborhood the roads were separated by ditches, in this dream two men were cutting down a tree in someone's yard but for some reason I knew they were not supposed to be doing it, like it was a crime. I told them not to worry, that I wouldn't tell anyone and every time they said, "Oh, I know, I'll make sure of that." Then they stabbed me to death, I felt cold where I was stabbed immediately, then it spread throughout my body and then I'd wake up. I had that nightmare at least once a week while living in that neighborhood until I moved away. This started shortly after the murder of Madelyn Clifton, which was pretty close to home for me. I was her age as well.

Wasn't stabbed, but I very vividly remember my neck/right carotid artery having been slit. I don't know at all anymore how the dream began, but in the crucial moment I found myself in a large kind of metal chamber thing with a window in front. Imagine a convection oven, but the size of a shower stall. In general the whole place had the feel of a Laboratory but the look of a kitchen ( I had a kitchen job at that time, and they had this 2m steam oven thing you could put people into, so I assume that's where my subconscious drew the imagery from even though the feel was definitely more place-of-research-like). Anyway, for some reason, there were two guys standing in front of me, clad in black, looking very coordinated/tacticool. One of them was a bit broader and taller, bald but wearing one of those burglar caps and had a stubble. The other guy's features were more average overall, but I feel like he had a sort of cunty aura about him. Anyway, they stood there and talked something at me. I don't remember if I replied or not, neither do I remember whether I struggled to get out or if they wanted to break me out or maybe they put me there in the first place, but I do know that I was none too happy to be in that place and have these two dudes in front of me. I can't even remember who did the slitting, but before my memory of the scene winks out I am sure I saw the bald guy turn his face away/being visibly pained/disappointed by what had to be done. Spooky soykaf. It felt extremely real, that very specific *rrrrrip* the blade made and everything. I've been slit in other parts of my body two, three times in my life before, so I know the sensation (all but one were accidents don't worry), but I still remember the sound the most distinctly. Not so much the feeling of the blade going over my neck, but the sound man. Still gives me chills I woke up right after, I think, and for a while that whole scene was so strong and vivid in my head, I was sure that I'd forseen how I will die in the future. Ah well, must've been pretty stressed at that time. /shrugs
