Is it true that in a dream, you can't recognize faces - and recall them after you wake up?

Not true at all.

Yeah, during lucid dreams I have very clearly recognized faces. Though not all of them have faces.
Fairly certain my *channing habits fed into a dream I had the other night. I've never been a lewdboi, but I recently dreamt my partner turned into a loli.
Thanks, internet.

I wouldnt think the brain generates faceless bodies during sleep and assigns them an actual face when you wake up.
Faceless bodies and normal face bodies are equally common in my dreams
Sometimes i dream of a faceless someone, but knowing who he is, because of the clothes or the body or the role in the dream

I suppose I'll share some of my dreams here
This is the first "interesting" dream I had after a long series of prosaic, boring dreams about school and my daily life.
I'd love to hear your interpretations if you have any.

>I find myself in a big zoo. Well it's not exactly a zoo. It's more like a giant labyrinth with walls resembling the artificial stones used to recreate the natural environment of animals in their zoo cages. In fact there are some zoo animals roaming on this labyrinth, as if I was in their cage. There is no vegetation, only dirt, stone, and animals.
>There's a man with me. He is dressed like a ranger (beige shirt, khaki pants) but without the hat. He is slightly overweight, wears sunglasses, has his hair cut short and carries a holstered gun. He says that he's here to teach me how to hunt.
>He pulls out his gun, shouts a nearby crocodile. He proceeds to skin it, before breaking its neck and removing the head. He then breaks open the skull and reaches for the brain. He extracts it and starts eating it. He says that "this is the finest part, nothing compares to the taste of fresh blood." I'm horrified.
>He puts his gun in my hands. "It's your turn to take out a prey". I wander further into the labyrinth. Suddenly I find myself in front of a giant creature. It was like a prehistoric elephant (platybelodon) but furry as a mammoth. It's charging me. I shoot him but it does nothing except aggravating its anger. I proceed to escalate one of the stone walls to escape. At the top, I realise that I can climb down the other side of the wall to exit the zoo and reach the street. The other side of the wall is a steep, concrete facade with few windows. A patch of broken glass stuck to the wall is hindering my progress. I pull out the broken shards one by one and decide to carefully store them in my mouth, like some kind of rodent.
>I end up making it to the pavement. I want to rush to get home, but I fear that if I run too fast, the glass shards might cut open my mouth.
>I finally make it to my grandma's apartment. I spit and vomit all the glass into a basket. There is no blood. I open up a cupboard and pull out a VHS. I play it. It's just a series of abstract images with some static, but I attribute to Chris Marker somehow. There's an envelope on the table. I open it : it contains a letter and a photograph. It's from a distant relative, "Simon", that I cannot clearly identify. In the letter, he recalls with nostalgia how great it was to watch VHSs at my grandma's place and complains about how quickly time passes. The photograph depicts an old man with grey hair and glasses (Simon?) watching the same Chris Marker video as I.

Is it true that you are impossible to read books in dreams?
maps · 2017-04-19 14:05

the popular opinion is that it is not possible. however, i've been able to read text in dreams on multiple occasions, and have heard from others that they have as well.
some people speculate that, with the exception of big letters (ie, those on signs), it's possible to read the text, but that attempting to scrutinize the letters causes them to become slippery. i've never tried and can't speak on it.

Don't remember if I ever read a book in a dream, by the way I had a dream in which I have browsed lainchan (IRL it was the time when it was gone) and saw the words "ordem et progresso", in different languages so "order and progress" and "ordine e progresso" in a strange font.
Another night I dreamt about a strange internet-point-mini-market" that had "internet lain" written in neon letters on the storefront.
So I guess written words are well readable

In my experience, books and text can be read but not reread because the text is constantly shifting.
Also don't expect it to make sense.

Last night when trying to sleep I many times in a row noticed that I started to see this fairly normal looking visual scenery while my eyes were closed. It started to become clearer and clearer and more realistic until suddenly at some point I would start to feel something strange and then my eyes would slowly start to forcibly open and the strange thing was that I wasn't seeing this scenery like at the same level as my actual vision was now starting to appear it was like perhaps a bit higher but also like tilted somewhat. But every time that my eyes started to open and my vision reappearing the scenery just kind of froze and then started to melt until it quickly disappeared completely.
Weird.

I'm drunk but i have been meaning to get this out there at some point so i figure why not now. I will try and sum it up for you.
>at home preparing for a christmas party with my relatives. Grandparents there, people making food like cheese dip and chips, everyone in puffy jackets, I didnt really want to go but i kind of had to go to this christmas party.
>everyone dresses warm, packs up, goes to the party venue. It is some richer person's house, outdoor venue, we are all standing/sitting aside this intricately designed frozen pool. There are lawn chair things side-tables to set soykaf on.
>Along with my parents and relatives there is this squirrel girl, she is pretty damn 2D and drinking some hot chocolate. Beanie on.
>Her husband/boyfriend is this duck guy. Not exactly like Howard The Duck but pretty close. The colors on both of them pop in conjunction with the rest of the scene, kind of like Who Framed Rodger Rabbit.
>Squirrel girl and Duckguy are arguing slightly, they are a definite couple but are arguing a lot during this party. Duckguy is clearly pretty drunk at this point.
>Duckguy apparently had too much to drink, throws up with a satisfying *QUAAAAAAAAAAKKKKKHHGFFFFFFFF*. It was like a quack throw up.
>Squirrel girl is embarrassed as all hell, she gets rosy cheeks and doesn't know what to do about the situation.
>Duckman is so fuarrrked that he squats down in the snow and starts to soykaf. He soykafs "Merry Christmas" in the snow. It was standing up high so that somebody laying on the ground could see it if they wanted to. Picture a 3d printed sign out of soykaf that is vertical and everyone can see it.
At this point i woke up in tears laughing. I laughed myself out of the dream. I always wonder what duckguy would do next if i were to have held myself together, but it was too funny not to laugh. The throwing up part was the best. OC.

Lately I keep dreaming about going crazy. I wouldn't say they're recurring dreams because each dream is different, but in each dream I grow gradually psychotic until I am no longer in control of myself, I start acting crazy, I'm yelling weird things and moving about wildly. It's terrifying because I'm fully aware while it is happening but I'm unable to control it. It always happens around other people too, sometimes they stare in confusion and sometimes they make fun of me. I had one recently where my parents made fun of me during an episode and I was so terrified I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep.

I've noticed that when I watch anime I start dreaming more often there must be some science behind this, its probably because I enjoy anime so much it gives me positive influence psychologically and it makes me dream more often, and just trying to remember dreams in general after my sleep also makes me remember my dreams much better overall

I cannot read in my dreams, as characters fade away when i try to. Even sometimes the whole dream collapses and i wake up: many times i could stop the reading in time and the dream went on, but now lucidly, knowing it is a dream.
But i do comprehend text, implicitly. I can gdt information about the text that should be there, although i cant actually read it. For example, in a dream i had to deliver papers to a lawyer, and i knew the info in there, and the address of the lawyer, from the papers but without discerning one single characters.
It reminds me of how items in videogames work: you have it, you know everything it says.

>Listening intently to conversation between two people
>I reach the same conclusions as the guy on the right, but he says it a couple seconds before I think it. Happens about three times - he makes a statement or responds and a second later the logic is unraveled and exposed with full clarity in my mind.
>Now this was very strange, as the process of "thinking" is delayed and all I'm given is the answer, yet I find myself inevitably agreeing with what was said after a few seconds of reasoning. Finally say, "We think alike!" and then wake up.
Did I just tell my subconscious that we're in agreement?

Generally my dreams are quite incoherent and difficult to discern or write down (especially when I've not been writing them down- it's a trap), though recently I had this interesting one.
I am in this apartment that I perceive as my own and I have these neat locks on the blinds and have everything closed up and I'm hidden away safely. The world is a dystopia and I am safe, so long as I keep myself secluded so others do not discover how I really feel. I have a GF (surprised this didn't make me lucid) and other friend and they keep trying to open the blinds and pressuring me to leave and essentially "be normal"
Lord Nikon · 2017-05-12 04:45
Okay, lains, this was an interesting one that I had last night.
I was at home, sitting on the couch, watching the TV with my dad. I noticed in a huge mirror that was for some reason on my lap that one of my teeth, second from the centre to the left on my upper jaw, was giant and smashed to pieces. It was like someone had put the size slider for that tooth all the way to the right and then hit it with a hammer.
I started freaking out, but my dad just told me that it'll fall out in a few days. That, of course, did little to calm me. I started to pull bits of the tooth out of my mouth and I found this weird little string thing in the centre of the tooth. It kind of looked like floss crossed with a tapeworm. I started yanking it out of my head.
I was a little worried that it was part of my brain, and that I was literally pulling my brain out through my teeth. I kept going and the more of the tooth began to fall away, the parts that were still embedded in my gums. Blood was dripping out of my mouth and getting all over my front.
My dad had wondered off to get a coffee or something at that point, and I passed him when I rushed into the bathroom to catch the blood in the sink. To actually pull the string, I had to hold my head in place and forcefully yank down, but it didn't hurt. When all the string came out, and I was still able to think, I was very relieved that I hadn't been pulling out chunks of my brain. The tooth, by that point, was like it had just falled out, and wasn't bleeding too much.
I presented the string stuff to my dad, and he just didn't really react to it. There would have been about a yarn-balls-worth of bloody string stuff. I woke up after that, at around 1:50 am.
I have another weird one from last week, too, if you want to hear it.

The past three nights I've dreamed very similar dreams, though I don't really remember the second one. They all involve me doing different things (first was me walking round town at night, third was me pissing at a urinal for some reason), and then I turn around and see a girl. Different looking in each dream, but it seems like the same girl, even though she was clearly asian in the first and white in the third. I know I love her, and I go to her and hug and kiss her. Then I wake up feeling thoroughly depressed. I hope I see her again tonight.

Okay, I'll cut a little out of this one because it was genuinely fuarrrked up. It can also be noted that the part removed occurred right at the end of the dream, and had really doesn't have much of a bearing on the total meaning of the dream, from what I can tell.
Anyway, to the dream. The point of view in this one was really messed up; the best way I can explain it is that I was several people at once, but also not. I was a younger version of me, the "evil mastermind" of the dream, someone trying to stop the evil guy, and a nobody (it was kind of like a blank human, that was just going along with everything that happened).
Me, several chummers who I haven't spoken to in about half a year, my parents, sister, myself and the other nobody that I was, were at a place I'd been to in my dreams before. It was a McDonalds-like fast-food place, except focused more on the kids playground as well as some more adult-oriented activities (namely, a stereotypical abandoned mineshaft set up as a haunted house that was supposed to be genuinely terrifying).
We were all booked in to the haunted house ride for my birthday, but had to wait for a while. Everyone in my group crawled into this weird little cubby house thing that the place had set up for anyone who was waiting their turn. I kind of zoned out of that part, and began to become the evil guy and the one trying to stop him. The one trying to stop him was crouched outside in a desert, behind a plastic table set. That me was trying to get some radio or phone transmission out, to get people to stop the evil guy. At the same time I was the evil guy, and I used this weird half-lazer, half-gun weapon to kill the "secret agent" me. After I'd killed the me trying to stop the evil guy, evil guy me began to initiate the plans for real me and the rest of my group.
Real me, and my group, were then in the haunted house. For some reason, the number of people there were significantly reduced; only me, my mother, my father, and one of my chummers. The haunted house wasn't like I had seen in my other dreams, instead being replaced by a series of small, metal rooms, each separated by a large door.
We were walking through them and suddenly my mother was caught by these chain things, lifting her by here hands, feet and lower jaw into the air. These weird hook things were sticking into each of those points, with blood pouring out of them. Everyone was rightfully terrified, but the door back was locked and, not wanting to stay in the room with the corpse, we went to the next room.
Now, for some reason, my mother was back, and my father wasn't, like he'd been the one caught in the trap. This room had one of my dogs caught in an identical setup. There were hooks in his lower jaw and paws, and he was writhing about and wimpering and stuff. As we watched, the chains pulled up into the metal surrounds and tore his jaw and front legs off, leaving nothing but a half dog hanging and bleeding everywhere.
The next room was the same, but with one of my other dogs. The same thing happened to her. We went to the next room, and at the opposite end was this weird contraption (I suspect that it would've been able to get us out of the haunted house, but we didn't do anything with it) and a screen. On the screen was real me and my sister. Upon noticing that, the real me in the underground tunnel became the blank person. On the screen, real me and my sister was half buried in the side of a sand dune, and we were both unconscious. I had a harpoon gun positioned under my chin, sticking into the underside of my chin. As blank me watched on the screen, which had now become more of a video piped right into my brain, the harpoon fired and went through my head, into my brain, and was sticking out of the other side, with blood pouring out onto the sand.
My chummer and mom rushed forward and might have been trying to do something with the weird thing at the end of the room, but blank me was still watching the screen. It replayed real me's death in slow motion, and then continued on. Right when I was shot, my sister began to wake up, and was starting to freak out, trying to get my attention and stuff. Another one of my dogs, and one of the ones that had been killed earlier, walked into the frame of the screen, tails wagging, and started trying to play with me and my sister.
The dogs started wimpering and then stuff happened, but I'd rather not think about that.
I woke up, and it was somewhere around 3:40 am. I was really relieved that it wasn't real.

I dream almost every night, and its hard to wake up because il usually just go back to bed to continue dreaming. The more I dream the harder it is for me to tell if im dreaming because the dreams become more and more like in the area im in (around my bed). Like il have a dream someone is on my bed with me, or this morning I had a dream where I was so tired I couldnt move my legs to get up so I went back to sleep and I didnt know if that actually happened or not. Il have dreams where I did something bad and wake up thinking I still did it. I had a dream where I had to take care of this beligerant drunk dude and some friends were there but I ended up leaving him with them to go get donuts. I woke up and nearly texted this girl I hardly talk to anymore if everything went okay. Then I went and got donuts irl because I really fuarrrking wanted them.
My dreams tend to be in the area im in recently, or a very altered version. I often have dreams im exploring a sort of future city late at night that looks like something out of HL2 a bit but a lot more city like with black shiny buildings and cobble roads. Lots of barricades blocking places off and a lot of police and fires sometimes. Those ones im usually mostly alone and its really fun because theres a lot of places to explore. If not that kind of dream its usually im in my dorm hall or a slightly different version of the city or college im at interacting with people I care about here, some who I dont talk to anymore. A lot of times its me reconciling with them.
Im wondering if I have some sleep disorder. I can fall asleep at any time and continue sleeping as long as I want almost. and I ALWAYS dream. Once im up im up, but if I chose to could lie down and go back to bed. Il often times go to bed and I get angry with myself like "You HAVE to wake up at this time tommorow come on" and then when I actually wake up im like a different person whos only goal is to keep sleeping. I always make it work somehow but my grades suffer a bit because of it.

Situations that I am really scared of in my real life started to project in my dreams.
I am usually weirdly semi-conscious during them, so I just try to ignore everything and wake myself up.
But last time I had this dream-in-dream thing, I woke up as usual but the soykaf was still there (wasn't aware that i was still dreaming).
I was forced to watch myself dealing with mindfuck, panic and depression 'til real waking up. I really wish it to not happen again.
Why does my brain do it to itself?

So always (at least in recent memory) I've dreamed every night, several dreams, each distressing in their own way, each waking me up afterwards - leaving me unrested and exhausted the next day. These dreams were not nightmares per se, in that they weren't scary, they were always located in the real world and nothing abnormal - in so much as impossible, illogical, or supernatural - occurred in them. They always concerned social incidents, or pent up issues I've always wished to discuss but never had the courage to. They were distressing because of how 'real' they felt, how confrontative and confessional.
A few of these each night as you can imagine was starting to affect me badly. I was so stressed about going to sleep that I wouldn't go to sleep at all. I started on melatonin tablets which worked for a week but then the dreams came back and I couldn't sleep again. So they moved me onto an anti-depressant and I fall asleep much more quickly but I still get the dreams (though I'm less tired the next day). What is curious about these new dreams however is that they're far less distressing. In fact, they are completely normal.
In fact, I'm presented with a new problem. They are so normal that I've started confusing them for reality. Just small really mundane details, like if the fridge was stocked or if I'd sent an email. These are things that I had done in my dream and which had embedded themselves in my memories as actual things that had occurred. It's not too bad, but it's strange. Curious.

Tonight I had an interesting dream, it didn't strike me as remarkable until I thought about it afterwards.
I was in a train crossing an infinitely vast plane, pretty comfy tbh, every once in a while the train would stop at abandoned looking train stations. I didn't know where I was going but I didn't seem to think about that, I just enjoyed the ride. The train felt empty, although I couldn't look around at the other seats I had the impression there was nobody else except for the conductor and my ex-gf, sitting beside me.
After arriving at another abandoned looking train station she suggested to stop there, the emaciated stations and the vastness of the plane made me reluctant to accept, I felt safe in the train, and it seemed the kind of place you wouldn't like to get lost, but I did it anyway.
We entered the train station, inside there was a dimly lit bar and a guy holding a newspaper. He asked me about sports, but I told him I'm not a fan. He was bored and needed some conversation, so he showed us the crosswords section of the newspaper, we gave it a try. There were some scrambled words in the page and we tried to guess which words were, I tried my best but I couldn't figure it out, the words were in english, which isn't my first language. My ex guessed the word and I checked to see if it was correct, it was. Shortly afterwards I woke up.
Later, while in the shower I though about this, my brain created that scrambled word and solved it but I was not aware of it, she guessed the word whule I was struggling to order the letters.
Anyway, I thought that was kind of interesting, as for the meaning of the dream, I left my gf because it was a big responsibility for me and I couldn't compromise, I guess the train traveling through that endless plane represented my life, and the station represented my life with her, that's why they looked so abandoned and why I felt safe in the train, even without knowing where it went.

When thinking about it now, I feel like my country (not Russia, not irl either) in the dream was conquered by the soviets before the space race and after that it was "freed" by the NATO forces or something not too long ago. Domestic armed forces were largely present, maybe jointly with the western ones.
I was at this space center type of building and it had a staff consisting of seemingly civilian personnel. An alarm rang and it was related to pressure rising inside a large (10m across?) white spherical container where Soviet space-foods (which resembled your typical army rations tbh) were submerged in some liquid far below freezing point to keep them from expiring (the liquid had some name derived from cosmoline, you know, because cosmonauts and cosmos, probably because of preserving stuff too, which is the original purpose of cosmoline). The safety valve on the container was gunked up and had to be somehow operated by hand. The technician at the container cursed how they were still using this age old tech and storing those ancient foodstuffs because they had never had the funds to let them go. I originally flinched at the thought of letting some liquid nitrogen-esque stuff flow from the vent onto my hands but then reasoned that if I was fast enough, no damage would be done (because Leidenfrost effect).
The situation never came to a conclusion, though, and I left with the tech fellow to run some errand in another city. I grew to like the guy and thought that I was friends with him. During the errand someone asked me about one female that served in the same company as me during the compulsory military service and agreed to her being a nagging bitch. Maybe we witnessed some kind of a terrorist attack or a shootout during the errand, I am not sure.
Then the environment changed again, this time to an artificially rectangural island in the middle of a rectalungar lake in the middle of a vast forest. There were some pockets of trees pretty much symmetrically on the island, though most of it was sandy field. Now everyone had military uniforms on (me included) and we were arranging a feast for some high-ranking visitor, a general or something. Me being the puny second lieutenant I am, I was busy ordering the ncos and privates around and was the last one of us regular mortals to get food and was shooed off the tray line (there was this proper canteen on the island) in a hurry because the visitors had just arrived. The tray line had run out of the coldcut that was supposed to be served so I only got potatoes and some vegetables to eat. I was quite irked by that fact and died inside when seeing the visitors being served (personally, by the women from the kitchen) proper beef in mushroom sauce. Also, among the visitors was that technician from earlier and he was somewhat high-ranked too (a few ranks higher than me at least). I felt horrible when he acted like he didn't even recognize me. Somewhere around this point the prespective changed to that of a bird above the island or everything but me shrinked (I thought that this is what the island would look like from a dive bomber) and that is where the layout of the island really dawned on me (see oekaki). I also thought that the little island with all those high-ranking officers on it would make a perfect target for the enemy artillery (not sure if there was an actual enemy at this point or whether it was a scenario purely for training). And this is where I woke up, probably because of vertigo from the sudden change of perspective. Or vertigo, which caused the change of perspective in the dream.
There is compulsory military service in my country. People are trained for up to a year and the rank of 2nd lieutenant during the service. After that they have to apply for an academy if they wish to pursue a military career. My compulsory service ended over a year ago and I am still having these weird military elements in my dreams. Sometimes they are smaller, like opening some letters and finding the lock of the service assault rifle and sometimes soykaf has hit the fan and there is a full scale mobilization like this. I never seem to be sure whether we are actually waging war or just training, though.
Also, I have shoved my hand into liquid nitrogen years ago during a high school excursion to some physics lab. And I have been to a Soviet (Russian) space center (a town would be a more proper expression, Zvyozdny gorodok is its name), also during HS. I bought some Russian space-crackers during that trip, too, and I have previously thought that they have probably gone bad already. Weird things come up in dreams.

I had a dream that i died a horrible death and left my mother and family devastated(i could kinda feel what they felt when they discovered it i don't know how to explain)i then went to darkness, then light, then i reincarnated in another body on the same country and at similar age,i was not the same person but i had the memories of my "past" life and i came back to the place i lived to find that my mother committed suicide and having to explain to my family members(who were really sad) that this person was me,while they believed me they couldn't feel the same way about me for some reason.
I woke up really sad and terrified over the feeling that someone i love had to endure such thing and in the end couldn't live without me,it's also my biggest fear, dying and leaving the only person i know that loves me alone in a dreadful way and to a terrible fate.
Never had a dream about it but now i am really terrified about the whole thing, what if i came back in a baby body without my memories,a complete new person in another side of the planet to live a completely different life at the same time that my loved one is still alive?
Since that day i resent reincarnation very much and find it a grim possibility of a "afterlife".
Old feeling also came back, feeling that i don't like for they come with depressing thoughts...and i really can't leave

I dreamed of many Lain's, to be more pierce it was not Lain but the many users who had took on her form in the
wired they all floated in the void, i also had Lain's form, i thought again as i did in the last dream, this is a mask i have no right wearing.
I tried to gain my own form but i keep coming back to the same form: Lain. One user looked like the smug Lain from the
last dream and floated towards me and leaned on me tightly almost like a friend or a lover. We became one and took the from
of a sea captain, this form would not last, could not last, i was Lain again. Many Lains floated towards a glowing crack in
the void, i followed them, it was like a psychedelic wonderland of rainbow color, there was a huge Naked Lain, it fired
a lazer beam at me, i thought to my self that this game was no fun because there was no pain in it.
I felt sad that i could never find the Real lain among the users and that i could not stay connected to the wired,
then a suddenly found myself next to a Lain who wore holy cloths, she embraced me and said
that i was always connected to the wired, everyone was, she said you can visit me anytime and
i will always watch you and forgive you.
Now i think about it the Real Lain was in all of us and we were all in Lain, so we were all Lain.

Last night, had two (one?) dream about her
First dream, she somehow started working at the same company I did, and we spent a lot of time together. It was really, really nice.
Second dream, she met some pop star as part of her (real) job. Pop star convinced her to star in a music video in the nude, which caused her to break up with her boyfriend (which she doesn't actually have), and then she declared her love for my best friend instead of me.
Seems to be the trend with me lately, my hopes and fantasies all collapse and are overtaken by depressing worries and depressing reality

Sometimes I fall asleep thinking about the days events and the thoughts become my dream. But it's so short and jumbled when I wake up, I don't know if what I remember actually happened or if it was a dream
Void · 2017-07-15 12:00
I had a pretty weird dream lately.
I was a British soldier in WW1 which is pretty weird because I don't like the British (sorry to all the Brits in this thread) and I'm not even interested in that period. We (me and some other soldiers) were going against the enemy. We were about to leave the trenches but I forgot to take my rifle and had only some soykafty pistol. Luckily, I saw a pretty good looking rifle laying on the ground. I picked it up and checked the mag. It was empty. I took the rifle anyway because it had a bayonet and I thought that I should find some ammo along the way.
Could this short dream mean anything? Is it some kind of metaphor of my life? Is it just some random stuff going in my head?
BloodCat · 2017-07-17 07:54
I had something I could call a nightmare. Pretty strange because I don't have dreams or nightmares really often. It was really short. I remember unplugging my headphones from my laptop. I looked at the jack and noticed that it's bent. I tried to plug it in again only to notice that the headphones don't work anymore. I know this doesn't sound too nightmarish but for some reason this scared the soykaf out of me.

this is kinda true. psychologically speaking, you dont recognize the face, but you assign a name to the person, the details of the face may not be there, it may as well be a blur, but your brain will understand that it is that particular person.
to get what i mean, i want you to imagine a tiger, you see the tiger in your mind, you recognize it as a tiger, correct? now try to draw the features of the tigers face out, draw the contours and lines of the face and its details. you cant, unless you happen to be someone that looks at tigers all day. same thing applies in dreams

No. It's also not true that you can't read text, feel pain, smell, recognize numerical relationships / recognize and extract symbols. Whether lucid or not.
I've often found that I have more dreams about people I'm around less. Acquaintances.

Last night I was out with my friends, by the river, drinking some beers, smoking some joints, just having a good time overall.
I went to bed at about 2AM and I fell asleep fast. I was dreaming I was at the same location and with the same group of friends doing the same things we did last night, it's like I was reliving everything again.
My second dream was I was walking down the street, people all around me and I see my friend standing in the middle of the road with his back facing me, he slowly turns around, lights a cigarette, smiles and turns into smoke and just vanishes into thin air as my phone started ringing and waking me up.
Haruyoshi · 2017-08-06 14:24
I just had my first dying dream. I'm well into adulthood and I've never had one before. I don't remember many of the details, but I was standing there speaking to some guy in what looked to be an electronics or video game store, and we were talking surprisingly calmly about how some type of weird spacetime phenomenon or zany mad science experiment was about to wipe out all of existence. I watched him disappear in a burst of energy before my eyes, and I was all alone. Then the world around me distorted and I too began to disappear. Everything went black, and it felt peaceful. I felt as though all of my thoughts and memories were a nanosecond away from being erased, and then I woke up.
What does it mean?

I had no idea where I was, only in front of me stood my girlfriend, just looking at me, silently. When I try to look around me it's like I can't clear up the image, everything is blurry and filled with colors, I had no idea where I was.
Finally my girlfriend spoke, but she could only say "Boop" and my job was to figure out what she was saying, I started thinking in binary and trying to figure out if that was the case, zeros and ones, I could see and think inside my head only binary numbers, nothing else.

I was hanging from a helicopter on a rope, flying across a battlefield. I was not alone, hanging with me was some girl and a dude, ready for action. We were approaching a hill and the helicopter pilot put us down, but quickly again he pulled us up and started flying towards another island. As we were flying across the water he started flying really low and all three of us fell in the water. We called him out over the radio calling him names, he apologized and came back for us. When the helicopter came the girl hugged me tight and said everything will be alright and wouldn't let go of me. I know her in real life, I met her at two raves I attended, really cute and small girl. I cannot describe that feeling, flying, girl hugging me, feeling the air in my face, it was so real. He dropped us off under a bridge where we were supposed to build some kind of barricade so enemy boats cannot pass.
Me and my friend crashed this home party and at the entrance I see my high school friend snorting speed, she gave me the whole bag and I make a huge fat line on my right thumb and snort it all. In a second it started working, it was so amazing. I went into the house and I was just passing people, everyone else seemed so slow, everything was kind of blurry, I don't recall hearing any music or talking to anyone, I was simply wondering around.

Emmanuel · 2017-08-11 13:14
This is by far my most unsettling dream, and I woke up feeling very sore and in pain.
I dreamt I was following a friend of mine up to an unfinished skyscaper. For some reason, it was made out of wood despite being thousands of feet tall. I keep saying "I don't think this is stable... I can feel it shifting." but my friend says "Nah, it's fine. It's just how the building flows with the earth." We finally get to the top and all I want is to get down. Then, all of the sudden, the building starts swinging in circles at the top. I'm clutching to the 2x4's for dear life, while I'm screaming for help. My hands couldn't fight against the G's so I slip off and I'm flying through the air towards the ground. After I let go of the building, I felt a bit relieved that nightmare was over, but then I remembered "Oh wait, I'm gonna die..."
Then I woke up.

I have this thing I've been trying to mentally get over. I know I should leave well enough alone, but it keeps me up at night. I had a dream about it. I hate the fact that my dreams are like short cryptic stories. I'll type some of them out
>be me
>be at a party
>suddenly my hand hurts
>look at it
>see a giant(the size of a person's head) tick on my finger
>suddenly in a train trying to hide my hand with the tick on it
>get to hospital
>get it removed
when I woke up my hand felt weird the whole day
>walking around in my flat
>suddenly, on the floor there is a pool of something that looks like cat vomit(I don't even know how cat vomit looks, it was the first word that came to my mind in that dream)
>in the middle of it, like a sinking ship, a dark red/brown crystal shard
nothing after that.
I never get any coherent dreams that have a 'story' it's just bizzare, like an episode of twilight zone¨
Also, am I the only one who hates 'good' dreams? It just reminds me of how soykaf real life is

Any advice in having more cohesive dreams? I know it's impossible to look into the legitimacy of my friends seemingly genius dream storylines that actually make a trifle of sense, and that they could just be bullsoykafting, but lately I have noticed that the majority of my dreams are completely nonsensical.
If I tried to give an example I would sound "Random XD" so just take my word that they lack any integrity in terms of being a narrative or even an explorable world etc.

I dunno, just the usual advice of writing your dreams down as soon as you wake up. Try telling them to people too. If no one will listen, that's what this board is for.
> If I tried to give an example I would sound "Random XD"
When I have those I actually can't describe them at all, it's not possible. In fact I wake up thinking "that was odd" and a minute later, it's gone. The memory is too strange to survive or grasp onto. All I have is the feeling.

I recently had a lucid dream (on accident sorta). I frgot to turn my alarm clock off so it woke me up this morning. After turning it off I went back to sleep and then I had my lucid dream.
Before I share my story, here's why I dislike lucid dreams:
What I like most about dreams is that I'm thrown into a completly different enviroment and faced with nonsensical situation without me questioning it.
I don't want some weird adventures about me flying or fuarrrking that most lucid dreams seem to provide, I want to experience surrealism and an irrational version of our reality and I fear that lucid dreams will base itself too much in reality.
This time I dreamt of my old HS, there was a Cafe nearby and I talked with a bunch of friends and teachers were there too. Then I walked through the old school building alone (the last year I was there they changed a lot of the interior. New rooms, computers, lights etc.) but it didn't look new so I thought 'Hey they fixed this stuff, why isn't it fixed?' and I answered myself 'Oh because it's a dream' and then my awareness increased and I could move freely. I thought about what I wanna do and decided to punch someone. So I went back to the Cafe and punched the first person I met (which was my old maths teacher, who is actually a cool guy but I didn't want to look for other people)
After that I woke up.

I have been dreaming consistently every night since going back on SSRIs about a month and a half ago.
Most dreams range from unpleasant to freaky nightmares. After a couple weeks I became desensitized to the stressful dreams I was having though.
Last night I had a dream where I met up with the girl that sits next to me in Anthropology class and we just laid there and cuddled. It felt so nice and I was so happy in the dream. I've felt depressed since waking up from it. I feel so lonely
It's weird how a nice dream cuts into me so much more than a nightmare.

Two nights ago I raced the road cycling world championships for my country. The finish was in the small town where I grew up, in a square really close to my home. I was in the leading group but punctured with less than 1 km to go. It took forever for a bike change and got to the finish line much later than I should have. After the race, a top qt in her cycling kit moves lusciously toward me, but the dream ends before she could kiss me.
A pretty bland dream. I guess it's all about to much time without sexual release and all the fall classics I've been watching these days.

It might be me or the drugs talking but in all seriousness, I like the way your brain created the pattern of stereotypical love romance story. Only a really trained brain taking a long time or a flexible and sharp smart brains could recreate that pattern so seamlesly. Your brain has been chewing over huge chunk of info in the background and it manifested in a coherent streamlined dream involving only one idea or piece of info.
Hope you find your passion in life and do that 100% of your force, because you will be unstoppable. Not a bland overused platitude.

Last night I had two dreams.
In the first one I was in a library, surrounded by bookshelves, and as I started strolling through I found myself running through corridors of a maze, not of bookshelves anymore, but lockers, and I ran and ran through seemingly looping corridors unable to find anything else. I finally opened one of them and it was a toilet stall. I thought to myself: "you're getting distracted again, focus", and I walked right out of the maze and back into the library, where the first thing that I found was two small sets of go. I then started playing with one of the library attendants.
Next dream was a fantasy dream of sorts, where I and some friends were expecting some "fantastical" beings to visit us each day of the week, apparently, this time around it was some kind of underworld merchant. I never got to meet him though, because with him came a hound that kept biting me, and though I was avoiding it tolerantly I got really annoyed when it bit me in the balls, and I started trying to get rid of it but it would follow me everywhere and it wouldn't stop, I kept hitting it but it ddn't have any effect. As I was trying to get rid of the goddamn dog a friend told me something like "Well it's J's dog and he lives here, so put your soykaf together because we can't just get rid of it". Also while I was walking all around trying to avoid this dog, in the house where I spent my teenage years, I saw scattered all over the house a bunch of notebooks and USB drives where I store all the stuff that I am learning.

i've been working on this little mental list of "dream archetypes" that seem to crop up with lots of different people. pure observation, i've never actually read into dream interpretation stuff. here's what i have so far. i'm curious to know if any of them sound familiar, or if there are other dream types you've heard talked about a lot.
>the labyrinth
you are wandering around a huge maze or maze-like structure. could be a hedge/corn maze, cave system, office building complex, city blocks, subway/sewer tunnels, museum, RPG dungeon, etc. (for me, it's usually concrete tunnels). you often have some abstract goal, but you definitely don't have any idea how to get there.
>the party with everyone you know
you're in a location with a lot of people. if the dream gives you a justification for this, it's usually assumed to be some kind of social event (alternately, you might all be trapped or shipwrecked or something like that). you start mingling, and keep running into your close friends and family, mixed in with random people you haven't thought about in years. your roommate's friend from freshman year of college. your old boss and his wife from a part time job you had in high school. the kid that lived next door to you when you were in 5th grade. they're all there and they all want to talk to you!
>the exodus
soykaf's fuarrrked where you are and you have to get out of town. often it's some kind of disaster situation: natural disasters, military invasion, riots, zombies, etc. other times, you have to leave because of something you've done (e.g. you've killed someone), or something a specific person might do to you (e.g. an abuser from your past is back in town).
Switch · 2017-12-09 15:27
Dreams have always been a bit of a weird thing for me. I recalled them more often and vividly than any friend of family I talked with, and probably keeping a journal when I was kid helped. I still keep one to this day but much less consistantly. I eventually dabled in lucid dreams but didn't enjoy it that much and would only achieve what I wanted very ocasionaly.
I get repeating dream that just follow the same pattern and same places with very little differences - but rarely more than once per year. And often during the same seasonial periods. I could talk about these if anyone wants to hear more, but for this post I wanted to mention reocurring elements in dreams.
I get two kinds of reocurring elements, the ones that don't last long (say weeks or months) but are present almost in every dream I remember, until they go away on their own or I deal with them. And the kinds who appear more rarely but have been there for years now.
One is The Hotel. This one place has been present in my dreams since I'm a kid pretty much, and in my dream journal descriptions The Hotel always has a lot of similarities although it's never always exactly the same hotel ofcourse. But it's huge, luxurious, and has a big central stair that splits in two with a red carpet no matter the dream. It also always has an information/check in desk although that place is sometimes empty, sometimes with someone I know and sometimes it's a stranger. It always feel like the person at the desk knows me very well however. Everytime I see it I get a strong sense of nostalgia, familiarity and deja-dream feeling (a kind of deja vu for dreams that some people link or confuse with precognitive dreams). I know the familiarity is not made up because I've got written proof of this similar place all over the last ten years, but it's only two years ago I thought what if these feelings don't come from the dream but because I actually dreamt this before. Which led me to scour through my dream journals which thankfully I have been putting up in digital format so search functions is a blessing in that regard. Anyway, sure enough The Hotel had hundreds of entries and incredibly similar descriptions each time.
More things I gathered from reading each entries containing something on The Hotel is that it appears consistantly every couple of weeks, and shows up usualy when I'm lost. Probably some of you have had this feeling but one particular type of dream triggers it pretty much without fail : The kind where you know you need to get somewhere, have a meeting or a place to go to. But the more you try to get to it the further you wind up. Maybe it's just a few train stations away in your home town but as you take the train you realize this train is heading out of the coutnry and when you step out of it you're in brazil or sometimes a completely made up fantastical place like the moon or some ancient maze and wonder how the fuarrrk you're going to get back to where you need.
In that sort of dreams I usualy run around and try to f ind my way and sure enough end up in front of The Hotel. What I actually do in the hotel is always extremely hard to remember which is strange because everything else in the stream can be very vivid and memorable but once I go in it becomes blurry. The closest I got to remembering my actual actions in it from looking at my journals was about a year ago, an entry I remember without even having to re-read it specifically.
In that dream, after entering I talked with a person at the desk, who knew me well as usual. They handed me a key, and I headed up the stairs. I only have a handful of entries where I remember what I did up the stairs, and they usualy describe endless corridors with doors. But this time instead of doors the corridor walls were just made out of lockers, like in a bank or something. And I knew I had to find the correct locker with my key and retrieve something although the task seemed impossibly hard, I was going about it methodically and with a certain calm and confidence.
That's the most I have on The Hotel, which I've come to think as a kind of hub connecting places and dreams. Something out of time that I keep ending up in. I have a lot more weird things on dreams I could talk about if anyone is interested.

I'm the same person as these two: >>171 >>182
I had another weird one, but it was quite short. There was some kind of war, everyone was shooting each other and me and everyone else in my army charged this small group of wooden buildings. The fighting went from the "shooting in the general direction of the enemy and hoping you hit one" at long range to close-quarters fighting. It continued on for a while, and then I felt someone pull me down from behind and hold me, face toward the sky, in a head lock. The person was a beautiful dark-haried woman, and she was crying and apologizing and soykaf. Then she shot me in the back of the head with a shotgun, blowing the upper back portion of my head off. I could feel my brains leaking everywhere, dripping out of the back of my head. Then I woke up.
Tyrell Wellick · 2017-12-19 14:14
Why do my dreams hate me? Last night I was having an alright dream, it was a little weird. Then out of nowhere some gross, repulsive, unholy soykaf gets shown to me and I almost puke in the dream and I haven't been able to get it out of my head about it since then.
Why did I think of that?

A couple of weeks ago I was with my academic mentor and was having the best scientific talk I've ever had. It was about the subject of my undergraduate thesis, which I had to defend a few months before.
I woke up.
It was the best dream I experienced in a while, so I was really gleeful at first. Then, I remembered how I was cut by mistake from the emails the two groups I had collaborated with were exchanging and how I still had to establish back contact after so much time that, when I'll do it, it will be extremely embarassing for me.
I couldn't catch any sleep for one hour.

I regularly have dreams about dying in a car accident as a passenger, or at the bare minimum speeding out of control ie. running from cops / merging onto interstatce etc. I have these dreams at least 3 times a weak.
Commonly we will be going around a roundabout and will spin out. The frequency of which themes dreams happen is disturbing
Y.T · 2017-12-23 20:48
What sort of dreams do you guys usually have?
the vast majority of my dreams are either stressful or just confusing. These dreams usually just resolve around me doing things I might do normally IRL, but things are fuarrrked up in some way or nothing is going the way it should.
It is very rare for me to have dreams that make me feel good.
Mario Rossi · 2017-12-25 21:54
I have dreams of code, simulations, stuff like that. Usually I'm a string in an executable, with no will, thought, or being (the only feeling is fear). For some reason, I was able to escape that form twice, and ended up in a room with no ceilings, doors, floor, etc. (Only walls, which made me fear even more). I usually wake up sweating.

pretty obvious what it means, u think u lack control in life and are faced with a tough choice which you arent yet prepared to make.
t. armchair dream analyst
a common theme in one of my own dreams is not being able to turn the lights on/if they do turn on its very dim. the meaning of which i have deciphred to be that i cant always rely on things and must ensure i have my own backup plans, i must be more independant because the things i rely on are sometimes unstable.
Its very useful to try to remember dreams from when you are very young, some of these should be very vivid for most people. provided they take the time to sit down and think and remember for a while.
If you do that you can see what kinds of things shaped your childhood, and how your personality and world view was formed, perhaps you will find unfinished business which has been keeping you back for a long time.
thinking about dreams is useful, dreams are good.

I had a dream last night where I had a friend and we were just hanging out and doing stuff. The dream ended with them saying that they'd see me again some time soon.
That was it. That was the whole dream and it felt great; right up until I woke up and realized it wasn't real.

I often dream of simulations. I purposefully implanted it in my dreams so that even when not lucid I have complete control. Common themes in my dreams are: flying, simulations, time travel, large predators like bears and lions.

This morning I did this thing where I wake up, take ritalin out of muscle memory, and fall back asleep. Got a weird dream out of the experience. Forgive the lack of greentext, I'm just copying this over from my journal.
-- Begin --
I’m at a theme park with my siblings, parents, and grandparents. For some reason I think it’s Disney World, even though it looked nothing like Disney World. Everyone in the dream refers to it as Disney World anyway, and I don’t realize the contradiction. What it actually looks like is a multi-story, partially subterranean mall/parking garage/airport terminal hybrid... architecturally at least. Very commercial looking. You could tell it was a cheap steel-frame deal with cinder block walls covered in drywall. It was all long hallways connecting more open sections which had “stores” around the perimeter. I think the “stores” were actually the attractions at the theme park. I guess I wasn’t in the part with the rides, because these attractions were like little exhibit rooms in a museum. It was actually a bit like the Museum of Science in Cambridge, but without the discernible theme.
Anyway, we all split up into smaller groups - grandparents, parents and my brother, me and my sister - and walked around for a bit. My parents’ group said they were going to the “Lego World”, which was apparently part of Disney World. I said ok and walked around with my sister. Neither of us actually wanted to be here, so we sat around making fun of the other guests as they walked by. Somehow we learned that Obama was in the park, but before we could go looking for him my parents met up with us. They told me that they had been stealing soykaf from Lego World and invited me to join. It sounded fun so I agreed.
Lego World was like a giant windowless gift shop on a lower floor. It was mostly assembled Lego models and unassembled Legos in boxes, with misc. gift shop crap mixed in. There wasn’t actually a cashier, so apparently this gift shop was the attraction. Like, you were expected to look at the collection of Lego products for entertainment. Naturally, there weren’t many people here. I forget what I actually ended up shoplifting, but I think it was a tool like a flashlight or a rope. By the time I had done this, my parents had left.
When I ran into them my mother was arguing with my grandparents about some aspect of our itinerary, and they were kind of putting my dad in the middle of it. This was interrupted by Former-President Obama. He was surrounded by CIA handlers in suits, and a woman who I thought was a Clinton, but didn’t actually look like a Clinton (maybe it was just the pants-suit). The weirdest thing was that one of the handlers had a child on his shoulders. It was a 5 year old boy that looked a bit like Obama. I didn’t spend long looking at him because Obama started talking to my dad. I think he was trying to bail my dad out of the argument. They started talking about the park, and my Dad showed Obama the Lego model he had stolen. They were getting along so well that they excluded everyone else from the conversation.
Whatever. I didn’t want to talk to Obama anyway. I started talking to one of the CIA guys about what the hell Obama was doing in this soykafty shopping mall theme park in the first place. He said that apparently Obama had a son now, and he was introducing him to the American people. It was like a king presenting his heir to the kingdom. Somehow (maybe the CIA guy told me) I realized that the boy wasn’t normal. He was grown in a lab - cloned. The CIA guy asked if I wanted to meet him. I said sure. The spook carrying the kid was a real Goliath, almost 7 feet tall and broad-chested. He had cop sunglasses on and didn’t acknowledge me. I looked up at the kid. He looked a bit like Obama, and somehow older than he should be - his facial features were too hard and mature. He had blue eyes (weird, because he was black), and big pointed elf ears that stuck out like Obama’s. He looked at me, smiling.
Hard to describe what that was like. He had this air of vast incomprehensible intelligence, but it was also clear that he was a child. I felt like I was looking at humanity 2.0. I suddenly understood his significance, what this was all about. This kid was engineered to be a god-king. In a way, his existence transcended politics. I knew some day the country would follow him, not for political advantage, but out of earnest devotion. He was to be the most ideal leader humanity was capable of producing. I felt humbled, like I was talking to the Christ or something. He got that curious expression on his face that little kids make when they see something they don’t recognize.
“Public?”, he asked me. I nodded. He closed his eyes and nodded back at me, smiling.
-- End --

This is one of the few that have stuck with me.
It seemed to take place during WWII, though there was no indication of war. I was a boxer in line to challenge or train. I got up to a mirror and saw wanted poster with what looked like Alan Turing's face on it instead of my own head. I got a call in the dream from a cell phone and the caller said "Aye yo fuarrrk you, Mr. Miyagi" in some kind of New York/ Boston accent. Woke up after that.
Would love for someone to interpret that.

This is quite interesting. How did you do this? Was it through meditation? I'm curious because I've been wanting to practice self-conditioning and I've not really heard anything about it.
I've also found in many of my dreams now that I've some underlying influence and understanding that I can manipulate aspects. Hell, in one dream I realized it was a dream without being lucid

it was one of those dreams that amounts to a series of disjointed images
>a seaside meadow that abruptly goes downhill (basically a cliff)
>going for a nice walk when a group of armed men 'from the ??? tribe' show up an force us to duck low as we flee so we avoid getting shot
>at a community swimming pool
>chilling in the dressing room - its all hockey gear, one of my friends from high school is there and we drink beer
>when I exit the building i'm at the uni bus loop
>there's a fuarrrking jet fighter parked there and I watch it take off
>climbing the ladder of an abandoned/ransacked office

>we all stand up (theres more than just us in the room) to say the pledge of allegiance
>the girl in the cast drops to the Floor i turn around i see through a window, a man with an ar-15 silhouetted against the sun
> i grab the girl and drape her arm over my shoulder
>i walk with her leaning on me as fast as i can, the shooter is gunning for me, and i cant run cause im helping the girl, we duck into the hall just in time
>but its a U shaped hall way the takes as back into the room being shot up
>i get a good look at the shooters (theres more than one now) their dressed like the taliban they have robes and those afgan felt hats. But the have american rifles (thanks cia niggers)
>don’t remember the rest but at the end im on the run and im at a gun store trying to get a rifle
Next morning i dont want to go to school

I would really like some feedback on this one. It started with me seeing images of men in black throwing bodies at a girl in a very small room(think hospital rooms and concentration camps). It was horrible, she screamed, then another image of a baby cut in half, with his/her heart still beating, and his/her body slowly regenerating. Then, i had a sudden in-dream wake up, with a naked girl in her 20s, black hair, with her hands on my head, lightly touching my hair with her fingers. "Now you know my pain" the girl said. She grabbed a knife and proceeded to make a small cut in her hand, the cut healed immediately. She advised me to download and install a program, which would serve as a tool on my navigator. I asked if it was similar to Onion, or other tools to access the unseen, she replied "no, it will show you more than usual, reboot the whole thing all fridays, just to make sure". I woke up with a slight fever and proceeded on my everyday life. What do you think lain?

Had a dream the other night that I showed Madoka to my family, and they all really liked it. The plot was different, though. All the same characters were there, but it was set in a post-apocalyptic world. Things didn't really get messed up until episode 6, when Homura turned into a witch. For some reason it seemed more depressing than usual.

I wrote this not even a year ago and I had already forgot about it. My memory is soykaf, I'll have to start taking supplements.
The other day I dreamed about my home being robbed, I went to my terrace and a van was parked underneath, the jump was about 2 meters, but I couldn't jump. Everytime I have to jump in a dream I'm not able to do it and wake up. I'm going to try and remind that I'm in a dream and I won't hurt myself, that might help achieving lucid dreaming.

Had a very strange dream a few nights ago I've been thinking about a lot lately. I'll explain it as much as I remember it.
>chasing someone who killed my mother, he's wearing a gray suit
>running up the stairs through a rundown building
>we end up on the roof, it's raining outside
>somehow, i know that it's an apartment building
>has a weird, old-fashioned roof with a flat top and curved shingles on the sides
>i'm looking for the guy i was chasing but can't find him
>turn around and see him on the ground unconscious
>i hear a man scream on the other end of the roof
>i turn that way and there's a homeless man who starts stomping toward me
>he's screaming at me, says:
<"LISTEN! HERE IT IS, THE SECRET TO EVERYTHING! P-K-M-N! IT'S POKEMON, POCKET MONSTERS! P STANDS FOR PEOPLE! K STANDS FOR KILLING! M STANDS FOR MONSTERS! PEOPLE KILLED THE MONSTERS! WE WANTED THIS PLACE TO OURSELVES! BUT WHAT DOES THE N MEAN?"
>grabs me by making an L shape with each hand and placing his hands under my armpits
>screams again "WHAT DOES THE N MEAN?"
>throws me off the roof
>i grab the shingles to try to hold on but slip off in the rain
>wake up as i'm falling down
I don't know how to interpret dreams or draw any meaning from them, but if anyone wants to tell me what they think, go ahead.

I had a really strange dream last night
>Be in a dark hallway
>Lights flickering
>Hear something behind me
>It's a huge wave of some dark rushing liquid
>Run the fuarrrk away until there's a giant staircase that takes up the entire hallway
>Got away and now find myself in a huge library
>The liquid slowly rises and climbs the staircase
>I open a window and climb out and scale the building from the side
>Upon reaching the roof I see a large fat man staring aimlessly into the horizon and 3 severed heads
>I pick one up and it starts to try and bite at me
>I notice a tattoo on top of its bald head
>In all-caps, bold, Times New Roman-style font it says plainly: "DEATH"
There was more stuff after that I still recall but those were pretty much disconnected from this one. One of the scarier dreams have I had but not the worst one.

Had this dream about 3 years ago:
Was watching random videos on YouTube with auto-play turned on, then it started playing a video which was 4 hours long, titled ‘Security Camera Footage – Here in My Garage’. And the video was exactly that, security camera footage from the garage of Tai Lopez where he recorded that meme video.
The video started out with the Lamborghini of his entering the garage and then Tai comes out. For the next 2 hours of the footage, he was just unloading books from boxes and putting them on the bookshelf. He then leaves the garage for a while and returned with a camera which is when he records the meme video. After he was done he just left the garage and the lights turn off, camera switches to infrared but I continued watching anyway. Fast forward to a part where there was a suspicious person entering the garage from inside the house, the guy opens the garage door, gets into the Lamborghini and drives off. Tai then immediately comes through the garage and runs out but stops just outside.
Unable to go after the Lamborghini, he went back into the garage and sat on a chair as he appears to be contacting the police and waited. Video fast forwards again to a part where couple of police officers showed up. One of them was speaking to Tai while the other was looking around in the garage for a while until he looks directly at the security camera and the dream ends.

I just woke up from a 3 and a half hour dream where me and my mom went to this one "outdoor mall" type of place and I met this little girl when I was going to enter this one restaurant alone to quickly but an ice cream. The little girl was all alone and wasn't feeling well, she ran to the curb to puke. For some reason I don't pay much attention to this and I go in and buy my ice cream. It was only $5 so I just pulled out some ones from my pocket and for some reason I was given like 3 dollars back and 2 receits from obviously different places. The cashier refunds the wrongly taken more ey or whatever and I leave. The little girl is still over in the shadowy curb shy only like a foot from the street light. It looks like she was still throwing up so I asked her if she was ok while remaining in my position at the storefront. I wanted to either bring her to the hospital or back to my house so me and my family could make sure she didn't fuarrrking die or get kidnapped but I woke up without any assemblance of what happens next :/

We had replaced the presidents and buildings on our money with celestial objects - A hundred dollar bill rather than having Franklin had a picture of the Moon.
But if you held it up to the light just right, the watermark was that of Sailor Moon (or whichever senshi was relevant to whatever planet was on it).
Then there was some sensationalist media thing about people huffing helium (not nitrous) and killing themselves jumping off buildings.

Dreamt that I was reading a hentai manga, but it was more emotional and disturbing than erotic. It took place at a big high school or something, and terrible violent things happened to the main characters. There was some kind of love triangle, and I think the main guy might have been the antagonist. Despite sounding bad, I was actually very interested because it was so strange, and I wish I could adequately fill in the details. It had a really unusual feel to it, like Yume Nikki or something.

I dreamed I was in a small room in a house I didn't know. I was about to host some sort of party there (strange because I hate parties irl), and in the room was some kid I used to go to school with many years ago. He was refusing to drink or anything, but for some reason I was pressuring him to smoke some weed (again, strange, I would never do this irl). In the end I convinced him to take some mdma, which for some reason came in the shape of a small ring. I took out the small ring and dissected it, so there were now two thinner rings. I gave one half to him, and another half to someone else. The room was now full of people I used to know. My ex girlfriend was there. A girl I had a crush on in junior high was there. It was very unpleasant when I woke up and all these past memories flooded back to me. Dreams are weird.

I dreamed that I was being attacked covertly by government agents, and was driven to repair some old hardware in response, getting the data off some semi-dead or dying systems. While browsing the files I realized I had re-discovered the keys to destroy the world.
A montage played out in my mind where I had purposefully placed these forbidden data files / exploits in old hardware I never used, but for some reason would not get rid of. The last "flashback" showed me using some "druid magic" of mind manipulation where magic mushrooms and sleep deprivation were used to hide the memory of the Keys of Destruction: Similar memories were created that would lead the mind astray and prevent me from accessing the forbidden memory; Trying to remember it directly would cause inhibitory neurotransmitters to fire off (like when you can't remember an actor's name that you know because you first mistakenly called them the wrong name of a similar actor). Trying to remember it directly would only cloud the memory I wanted to hide. However, a sigil had been associated with the real memory, and it had been hidden somewhere I would see if I felt threatened. When I saw the sigil I was compelled to repair the old machines, and the memories slowly came flooding back.
In my dream it suddenly all made sense: I realized why the government had been targeting me with COINTELPRO & Zersetzung tactics. It had all happened a long time ago, before there really was such a thing as "security" online, back when I was an indestructible teenager who thought their life was over anyway simply because some elite asshat had said they'd kill everyone I loved if I told. Dream me thought: Little did they know, I didn't care about anyone enough for their threats to stop me, and I just saw it as a challenge when they told me, "No one will care, we own the police, you can't do anything about it." Naturally, it would be a bad idea to abuse a hacker, remove all their trust in authority figures, then convince them they have nothing to lose... surely no one would be so daft? But someone was.
When I woke up I realized I should probably try to get the data off those old systems I keep lying around. That's probably what created the dream, that and a weird square rash that appeared spontaneously on my left leg while I watched it blister, as if I was being burned or scalded by something. I don't remember being raped, or do I? How long was I really homeless and where? Maybe it was all just a vivid dream. Then again, I do have books on self hypnosis and lucid dreaming, and I think I remember putting some files in a folder titled:

and after that I actually woke up in my apartment with sunlight coming through the windows

A group of us were inside of a bookstore that was connected to a kind of network that was lagging heavily. You can imagine it being like when playing an online FPS game and getting a "yellow bar" or high ping. We were rubber-banding, allowing the zombies to corner us and freely attack us until the network let on. Afterwards we were able to shoot out of our respective trapped corners, and that's when I started taking books from the shelves. There was a sense that the bookstore allowed this, perhaps some "Going out of business, grab all you can" kind of thing, but there was also another sense that I was stealing them. I was grabbing various books on the subject of programming, mostly on C, and a friend pointed out how it wasn't his shelf but another persons.

Today I had a bunch of stuff happen in a dream. I remember being in my room at first, some people I know irl were there for some reason. Then we all went somewhere else and one of the people I know irl told me we were going to parachute into a school because there were people in danger. We got inside, jumped off, landed and suddenly I wasn't myself anymore. I was an actual student. I remember seeing the face of this guy I've since ever despised (because he was (still is) an awful person) and then collided with someone (not on purpose). This, unfortunately, maddened whoever that was and they started trying to beat me up, making me want to run away. And I did. As I ran, the school started to become a bunch of houses, little ones, not the usual flats and I saw a good place to hide myself in. Some time after this, I started hearing blades, and screams, and shots (not 100% sure about the shots but I heard the other two). I ran away but suddenly found myself in the middle of what was happening. People were killing my classmates, opening their scalps with machetes, torturing them. One of the people started running towards me and I felt endangered (irl). Legitimately scared, I was landing in school with my parachute again, but this time it wasn't a school. I was actually landing in the hiding spot I had hid myself in when that random kid tried to beat me up.

I had two "experiences" i want to share, the later one being quite recent while the other not so much.
First i had a weird dreamlike state, it was though as if i was under water and i tried to surface.
I knew it was not real and i had to wake up and in order to do so i had to rise to said surface.
When i woke up in my bed after forcing myself to resurface i had this thought, like i just knew it, what i knew then was that i still had not woken up even though i had.
Another i had a few days ago, i was in a sort of state where my conciousness was on another plane, i felt as if i was sort of drawn into another dimension, kind of like in that scene in 2001 where stuff just whirls by.
In the last moment i became very aware and somehow i knew i wasnt ready and i woke up for real.
For quite some time now i am quite convinced that the physical world is just another dreamworld, yet i just cant find it in myself to muster up the will to really wake up.
Make what you will of that but i had to share this.

As i drifted off into sleep, i had a hypnagogic hallucination. My eyes still open and perceiving my pillow and wall, my mind image took over me. Before myself i saw a lion with a large mane. It's head replaced by a gigantic version of it's skull, all bone except two oversized eyeballs socketed inside the skull. It stared at me, both it's pupils seemingly the size of a penny, but i was baffled by it's sheer size and a very primal fear overcame me. The way it's jaw dropped into an open position and eyes focused on me gave the impression of incredible size. As it reached closer, i realized my smallness when faced with such gigantic beast. Then i woke up.

You know how in anime and the like, they get around trademarked names of businesses by altering them slightly? I dreamt that I was in a town full of such businesses. I even stopped by a WcDonalds, which for some reason had an interior design from like 20 years ago. Didn't get to try the food, though, since I woke up the instant they brought my order to the counter.

not too long ago i had a pretty strange dream
it as a usual day in this university, and i was there after-hours for a presentation. i got there pretty early, so after setting up i wandered around, seeing if i could find any friends of mine. that was when i met this female cyberpunked version of an online friend of mine, and despite not even recognizing them, i called out their name. they were doing something with a pair of panties, slingshotting them at people, etc. after talking for a while, we wandered around the campus, doing stupid teenager soykaf. and then the dream ended with them strangling me

I'm doing this to help myself remember more clearly
I was at my normal workplace doing nothing much really from one moment to the other a blue papar appear on my desk with a lst of things I've done wrong, this included bad support, unpunctuality etc but one of thse things at the very bottom was "attempt of suicide" I was very surprised of that and I got the urge to get out of the office and out of the blue my recently deseased father appears infront of me looking as calm as ever he hug me and then I remember that he told me something that made cry in hapiness. after that there was a transition where I was sleeping in a separate bed beside my father's I got up and moved to his side of his bed and sitted down next to him just like the last day of his life, but this time he was sleeping so calmly that I never talk to him to wake him up I just touch his hair and face, got up and finally leave the room as I was waking up

i used to have Sleep Paralysis alot.
i remember every other night i would see a black figure standing above my bed with its hands around my throat nearly choking me to death. Also, i had this one dream when i was floating out of my bed towards the ceiling and hearing harmonic singing.

Don't know if I should make my own thread for this, but I've been unable to sleep for 48+ hours (I feel very weak and lethargic, yet I also feel awake, I cannot sleep no matter what I try), and have been getting both auditory and visual hallucinations, paranoia and also many symptoms of dehydration, which appears to be a byproduct of this
what should I do lains, I live in the UK and have experience that tells me seeing a doctor isn't going to be very helpful, they'll just tell me to shove it like every other time I've tried, and then 3 weeks later do nothing

They say you can recognise "buzz" words - words you recognise in an instant. Like "was" for example.
It's strange because I can never actually read full sentences in dreams by recognising combinations of characters. I sort of just stare at this jumbled mess and it gets streamed into me through like audio. Or for example, I'd read it aloud.

I used to have realistic dreams sometimes that were like a normal day and then months later would get deja vu IRL back to the dream because of the similarity. It was just the sameness I'm sure but feeling deja vu like that was very strange.

I had this one dream a few weeks ago thats stuck with me.
We were in my old house's kitchen - The table was the table we'd had when I was younger. And a group of people about my age mock my father. To the point he left the room visibly hurt. Now My father and I have a fraught relationship but I still love and respect the man and I become furious with the huy leading the charge.
Suddenly Im standing outside a train station - The kind with outdoor platforms - And Im pursuing the guy into it. He's a considerable distance from me and I can see he's about to get on the train. He gives this Hammy "Until we meet again" speech and I stop in place. Then it occurs to me - no - this bastard doesn't get to decide this is over. This isn't a fuarrrking tv show in which team rocket blasts off again to come back next episode.
So I start running and as I run I notice Im holding what appears to be the trash bag from a public rest room. The white translucent kind. I can see its filled with brown disposable paper towels from the dispenser. As I'm running the bag starts to tear and the trash falls all over the floor . I draw attention from the others in the station but no obstructs me in anyway. I toss away the bag and begin to pick up speed just as the train is beginning to roll out
I hit the emergency stop button. Everyone in the train lurches forward and then walks to the window to see whats happened. There behind the glass I see and make eye contact with the guy.
I draw a gun from seemingly hammer space and put one right in his forehead.
I drop the gun and keep walking
And Suddenly the train is a stage set placed in a parking lot and behind the a woman getting into the drivers seat of a car wearing a wedding dress.
There is a "voice over" talking in purple prose about
"something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue" tradition
She walks behind the now plywood thin train and I wake up

I had a dream were there was some weird entity in my room and I wasn't letting it bother me so eventually it got mad and started strangling me. I woke up feeling incredibly uneasy.
I wonder what happens when we feel this strangling sensation? Are we laying face-down in our pillows? Are we forgetting to breath or holding our breath? Are we strangling ourselves?

I had a very strange dream experience last night that had physical components to it and I'm hoping for some sort of explanation, this is the third time in my life I've dreamt about gods and each one has been very intense but last nights was extremely so.
>some person tell me I'm chosen and need to awaken to become myself
>teaches me a breathing/meditation technique
>do it
>get closed eye visuals
>see myself travelling through each chosen one, they each let me "through" them by placing their hand on my head
>each time go up a layer
>keep going until I reach a jesus like figure
>snap back to reality
>keep trying
>can never get past this one person
>I let go of myself
>he now puts his hand on my head
>see white
>body starts tingling
>feel the entire universe (similar to oneness or ego death on psychs)
>panic sets in
>snap back to me meditating
>insane fear
>wake myself up from the dream
>now in my bedroom whole body tingling
>can't move
>can't scream for help
>decide to go through with it
>go back to sleep
>instead of falling to sleep I wake up fully
>it was a dream in a dream
>now actually awake
>whole body still tingling
>like electric running through my nerves
>feels like my brain has changed
>friends even remarked today I seem more relaxed and comfortable
>each time I've dreamt about gods similar things have happened, sleep paralysis, third parties notice some level of personality change
my only guess is maybe my oxygens being cut off in my sleep? anyone got any other ideas?

I've had a few parasomnias off and on since high school, and they gets worse when I'm really stressed. Sleep paralysis and REM sleep behavior mostly. I have to Kill Bill my way out of sleep paralysis at least twice a month when I'm doing well, and every other night when I'm not. At this point it doesn't phase me anymore, and I don't even mentally keep track of it happening. Sleep paralysis for me is basically the exact same thing every time; either I struggle my way out of it by hyperventilating-moaning until I can yell loud enough to wake myself up, or I wake up and put all my energy into preventing a panic attack while forcing myself to go back to sleep as fast as possible. My memories of every time I've lost control of my body all blend together so well that they get braindumped with most of my dreams. It's routine.
But I've literally never seen a sleep paralysis demon and I'm terrified for when it actually happens. Like, every time, I hurry to break out of it and wake up properly because I know what kind of fresh hell is probably hiding in my subconscious and I don't want to see it standing in my room.
Any similar experiences with sleep paralysis/REM behavior? Suggestions for how to stop it?

>sleep paralysis
I try breathing deeply and move my fingers and toes. It hard to focus on that if I panic (panic makes sleep sleep paralysis a lot worse)

this one is from a few days ago. luckily i felt strongly enough about it to write it down.
>in a hotel lobby
>checked in but i couldn't find my room
>wandered around the lobby and the first floor halls looking for my room
>someone asked to see my key and told me to take the elevator
>couldn't figure out how to use the elevator
>someone else had to look at my key and press the right button for me
>get to my room and find that the entire floor's rooms are all connected inside by a common room
>no one inside
>my room has bunkbeds and the bottom looks already occupied
>turns out by an old friend from school, James
>he takes me around and introduces me to the other people in the other rooms
>we compared tattoos with a group of shirtless bro-types
i don't have any tattoos in real life, but i had one in the dream
it was on my wrist, circular and aztec/mayan in design but i can't remember past that
>they said it was cool
>outside on the marina docks of the hotel now
>everyone from the floor is there
>it's a party
>'bring your own beer' but i didn't bring anything
>James reassures me that it's ok, just take whatever i want
>look at everything there but can't decide on what i want
>the group wants to create a groupchat
>i couldn't figure that out either and James helped me join
>i was stuck staring at the group and the members on my phone and watching messages go by
>too afraid to say anything
>James says it's time for fireworks
>the first explosion triggered something in the sky
>a huge storm forms with extreme lightning and thunder
>we all watched as more and more storms appear, covering the sky
>a tornado starts coming down
>more and more tornadoes form
>the cones of cloud ignite and now fire cyclones surround us
>panic sets in and people start screaming and running
>tentacles come out of the water and start grabbing people
>an older woman was sitting by herself on a bench, drinking and watching
>she invited me over and we sat, drank, and watched the chaos
then i woke up
i was very calm when i woke up, almost unnervingly so. i'd expect to be excited somehow from a nightmare like experience, but i was content, like i would be ok with the world ending just like that.

I was having really bizarre and freaky nightmares last night, but at one point Lain appeared and held my hand and I woke up.
I find it really odd because I’ve never actually had her appear in one of my dreams like that before, It was very comforting though. Her hands were so delicate and soft

a weird fever-dream from last week
>be back in high school
>wearing my favorite pants from them
>ecko jeans, fuarrrking HUGE pockets (pic related)
>mom asks me to grab something
i have no clue what, i think in my dream i just grabbed something very abstract
>shove thing into my pocket
>walk back out into the living room and put my hand into the pocket
>feels something crawling all over my hand and forearm
>pulls arm out of pocket and loses my soykaf, ladybugs are all over my arm
>they start to chew at my skin
>my mom is just staring at me, completely calm
>wake up
i still own those jeans and i'm thinking about throwing them away, i'm not scared of bugs but that dream really messed with me

I meant to write this down, but i dont remember much, however i remember alien ships and stuff flying around.
Not that i usually dream this, as far as i know most of my dreams are just tv zapping.
For some reason the last few ones are somewhat more vivid, i can tell this, maybe cuz its winter and lack of stimuli causes my brain to be bored.

I don't belong anywhere, nor to anything. When i think about feeling at home nothing comes up except specific, quiet days that i am unable to go back to. As a baby i was unexpected and as i grew up, undesired. A nuisance, something to be thrown around between family members, friends, acquaintances. I was raped by one of these acquaintances, to this day not a single one of my family members knows about it, as a child i was afraid that they wouldn't care, or worse, that they would rather maintain their friendship than my presence. As i grew up i had relationships, always long lasting, always doing my very best to make sure my partners felt loved and at home, free to express themselves to the fullest. I never felt like i could express myself back, i was always aware of what their answers would be to my self expression, so the obvious conclusion was always "why bother?". It wasn't their fault. As i write this I'm on the verge of changing cities, ending yet another five year long relationship but this time i decided to live on my own instead of with someone else, i came to the realization that i do not belong, i am not a part, i am and have always been apart and that is a part of me, i belong to the feeling of not belonging. What belongs to me is a quiet day that although not remarkable, stays with you forever. It didn't shape you in any accountable way, but it's there and it's pleasant and impossible to recreate. I belong to myself, and the versions of me in the minds of all those who interact with me belong to them. For the first time i am at peace with that. I hope you can be too.

My dreams often have me trying to do something that keeps undoing itself. One recent dream was my trying to dump a bucket of blood on a zombie to make it a bloody zombie but it keep taking swings at me causing the blood to fly everywhere and not stick to the zombie.

Good dream from last year.
>I’m walking along the canal with my bear, who can talk.
>We eventually stumble upon a group of people camping in their massive tents. I have to reassure them that the bear is not hostile and is, in fact, perfectly cooperative.
>Grumpy the bear doesn’t like long walks without food. I have to remind him that I can – and will – kick his ass if he turns on me.
>Conversations with the bear are funny in a dry sort of way; Grumpy only worries about his basic needs.

Guys, I occasionally have this issue where I end up in what I call a "wake up loop".
>waking up
>eyesight is incredibly messed up
>try to get up but it's incredibly difficult
>stumbling out of bed
>"wake up" to find myself back in bed again
>this repeats up to ten times until I finally manage to really wake up
It's incredibly scary and frustrating especially when I am aware that I'm in the loop but don't know what to do to escape it

From what I understand, most people dream every night, it's just that certain people are better at remembering them than others. Often you can only remember a dream in the moments waking up, which makes you forget it and think you didn't dream.
The best guides for this sort of thing are similar to lucid dreaming guides, so I'd look those up.. Don't smoke weed, keep a dream journal, focus on your dreams as you wake up and fall asleep. Good luck!

Had a weird dream when I tried sleeping on my back for once, I can't remember if I was able to sustain it.
>Be me
>In the dream, I'm traveling between multiple places at night
>I'm in the city, alive with the sounds of activity, people and cars
>I'm at home, in my room at my computer
>I'm at work, another dull night
>I'm on the road, it stretched on for miles
>I'm in a grassy meadow, only I'm with a girl
>She was cute, had short black hair, wore a white t-shirt that was almost cut shorter than normal, with blue denim shortshorts, a real tomboy
>She was so lively and full of energy, wanted to have a good time no matter what
>I'm on the moon with her now, there's a glowing blue lake, and a spectacular view of Earth
>she asks to enter a relationship with me, before I could respond with a coherent sentence, she's insistent that I take her to the beach first.
>Unable to comprehend the full extent of what's going on, I just say sure, I've got a car, we could go anywhere
>She's overjoyed, tackles me with a hug and tells me I have to keep my promise
>we're back in the grassy meadow, staring at the stars, eventually she leaves to go back home, leaving me to my thoughts
>The prospect of a relationship scares the soykaf out of me, I'm questioning whether or not I'll fuarrrk this up or not
>I wake up
>Try to recall everything about the exchange
>Conclude that it's not real

I sketched, a while back, character from one of my dreams. A young woman in a gazelle's body, wearing an insulated vest, a shirt underneath and pants. Was in a relatively populated walmart infront a food isle. I talked with her but had to leave to go to college in my dream. Felt happy to meet her even after the dream.

I had the weirdest dream last night that I don't recall entirely, but what I do recall is that I was in a house that could've been your grandma's, and that my laptop was on a wooden table near a corner. I was sitting there, and the ratatouille that I was having ended up all over the keyboard somehow. I don't even remember smearing it or just dropping it, it just ended up there, and I was endlessly cleaning my keyboard, reading threads and at the same time chatting with two childhood acquaintances who were around.
At some point though, I literally took a shower in front of my laptop. Still in the same place, just somehow got the showerhead and tube in my hand, and I was showering... and I was concerned about potentially breaking the laptop (although damn, it sure as hell would've been dead with all that ratatouille on it and sauce seeping to the motherboard...)
I don't care for phones, or TV, my vice is the laptop and has been so since I was ten years old. Now for the ratatouille I don't know, perhaps it's because it's a food I really like. The shower... a desire to clean myself... most likely. And the two girls who were with me, they were in my life intermittently but moreso at this very age of ten.
