>ctrl+f 'fashion' >no result We need to get a fashion general up in this bitch. I think we'll have a lot of overlap with aesthetics and inspiration. Post whatever fits you like, either irl or from media. Don't know the first thing about fashion bc ur a NEET? Just ask for some advice, we all start somewhere
Nameless · 2022-10-23 19:13
Techwear is nice to look at, but expensive and almost always needlessly overengineered. Aesthetic signaling ought to reflect more than just taste in shapes in textures, but also taste in personal values. For this reason I've been favoring olive green over all black lately. And besides. Can you really be a foo-punk if you make an effort to stand out in a crowd? You can't be doing anything too interesting if you're comfortable being seen.

Are there any good alternatives to backpacks? I usually don't need to carry much more than laptop, maybe some groceries. I just find that meanwhile backpacks ruin a fit of a jacket (I live in a cold climate) and all alternatives don't seem to look good to me. Anyone here uses a shoulder bag?

>>9803 I do agree that a lot of techwear is overpriced and can be a more cosplay than fashion, but techwear is also a school of thought of having clothing that is very functional. You don't have to spend 1k on mid cargos from acronym, you can cop a cool pair for less than $100 usd without looking to hard. I'm not even a big techwear guy, I just like some of the cargos. >Can you really be a foo-punk if you make an effort to stand out in a crowd? Yes. Obviously don't wear avant-garde soykaf, but when I go to get the bread I get it with style. Then again I do most of my soykaf in the city, so I kinda have to to an extent.

>>9824 >I basically just wear a ratty pair of swim trunks and flip-flops and nobody gives a soykaf. If I wore techwear I would become a living swamp. If techwear means anything, it means wearing clothing that is highly adapted to your body and environment. In a hot, humid climate, breathable clothes in styles that help your body cool off are the ultimate """techwear.""" Swim trunks and flip-flops are pretty lousy and unfashionable unless you're at the beach though. I'd recommend getting some hiking sandals and good looking shorts, or breathable, loose-fitting pants

>>9816 How achievable would it be for robots to cut people's clothes to their specific dimentions? Could we replace most laces with webbing and buckles like how backpacks do it to allow both sizing adjustment and quick don/doff? Seems like a better system to me than tying laces or Velcro that can get soiled.
Unnamed · 2022-10-26 15:01
>>9832 not him but here goes >How achievable would it be for robots to cut people's clothes to their specific dimentions? Not achievable at current pricepoints for entry level clothes, but entierly acheivable technically. Pattern making is and has been for a long time quite programmatic, I'd wonder whether a robot would cut it cheaper than a malaysian though. >Could we replace most laces with webbing and buckles like how backpacks do it to allow both sizing adjustment and quick don&doff my personal experience is that laces give a bit better control than the buckle system I've seen on backpacks. But I see quite little lacing done anywhere but on shoes these days, and thats perhaps the main place such fine control is warranted. I think you overestimate how useful resizing is on clothes, any real resizing probably should be done with needle and thread. Even children don't change size so quickly that that becomes untennable. What resizing is needed is just that for donning and doffing, and a single belt frankly suffices for that for the most part. Buttons/zippers on i.e. coats and jackets could probably be so replaced, and I've seen belts on such garments in the style of backpack fasteners. Seems reasonable to me. Not a revolution though, not faster to don&doff than someone who ties a good knot either. Buckles are bulkier than buttons, less effective at sealing than zippers. Not sure what you see in them. Have seen velcro on i.e. cuffs of again especially outerwear and this is a bit of a bother. Cuffs can get dirty and a lot of wear and velcro is a bit sensative to these things. On the other hand there's a big perk that velcro offers: its ease of use. Cant easily close one of those buckles with one hand. But velcro doesnt even need a hand, you can just do it with your wrist and a semi hard surface like your torso. A seperate adjusteable belt to control the size of the cuff might be nice but I think buckling it is ordinarily going to be a hassel.

>>9886 I've seen some undyed stuff as well as natural dyed but it's still pretty rare. Mushroom dyes sound nice from what I read about them which is probably cheaper than something like indigo for example. Alpaca have lower methane emissions and land use than sheep or something if i recall right. That is what i meant by sustainable.

>>9887 there's a whole lot of vegetable dyes too not just mushrooms. Madder root and beet and tumeric and yadda yadda. Different animals & breeds do better in different climates, with different local flora/faunas et certra. Too many axis both in desired products (meat, leather, wool, horns), and regional details for a one size fits all solution to make sense. tldr dont dis all our other wooly friends plz
Nanashi No Gombe · 2022-11-05 20:14
>>9888 I really just meant more eco friendly when i said natural. There really should bbe a better term for it. It doesnt have to be something from nature, could be like bioegineered dyes would be useful or engineering the colour of "natural" fibres at their source so no additional dying process is needed. Yes different environments different animals can be more suitable because it's not just land use, methane emmisions but also transport where something local will be best but i think the stuff that said alpaca was more sustainable was talking about specific regions possibly. Though technically it should be possible to grow wool without the animal with the right genetic engineering then it can be like the wool of any animal even endangered ones.

J.C. Denton · 2022-11-10 22:34
>>9911 What i say will deviate from Techwear but still have basically same look. Avoid cotton and cheaply produced polyester claiming to be moisture wicking which is hard to find any that actually work as claimed. Wear merino wool as your closer fitting base layer will keep you cooler than cotton and protects you from the sun better but when gets cold will keep you warmer. Just pick correct micron size for your sensitivity to ichiness but most people wont have much issue below 18 microns There even is t shirts made out of merino. Lyocel is the latest form of rayon and is good to keep cooler and doesnt use toxic materials like other forms in production. Any outer layer if a synthetic fabric will need to have good air flow so loose enough especially good if you have air vents on it.

>>10285 first of all most of the people I see who wear milsurp clothes are punk-types if they're not /k/ommandos or other tacticool types and I think its easy to avoid that look if you try. Do no excercise and cultivate a slightly yellow waxy pallour and you're good to go. IDK man I think patches are more often than not ugly and generally all just show your taste in boots. Consider some light embroidery work, or reenforcement/adjustments (especially with unusual thread colours). A lot of military clothes are made cheaply and generically and a little tailoring and can make it more unique while also improving it. obviously depends on the garment how feasible/easy this is

>>10322 The key is understanding color... Fit should accent you as a person, but that comes more to confidence, if you look insecure in your fashion, it makes you look out of place in your clothes. Classic styles are like uniforms for your clique, each with its own nuances. I won't even go into style for a beginner, at a certain point you will just understand what looks good or not. the right fit can mean the clothes don't look too big or small, but there are aesthetic trends that wear exactly that. The best recommendation I have is to make sure your shoulders fit your shirt, and your waist fits your pants, everything else you can play with.

Literally rebel against the status quo by definition. East German uniform parts. USSR special military equipment was also designed for practicality not safety, and some of it was mad max tier. >>10285 >>10289 >>10321 Putting patches is a delicate balance. A lot of fast fashion derives from old school punk, and your patches have to send the right message or it will look like you are a tryhard normal person or hippie. The patches also cant be autistic or mainstream. Flight jackets are a good fashion piece, but some milsurp is specifically associated with groups like bikers, stoners, or left/right wing extremism. Patches can signal to fellow enthusiasts of your choice. I usually wear GITS or SEL patches on my gear.
