Occult Images
Nameless · 2022-07-20 20:17
I found this image in a /hum/ thread and it spoke to me directly somehow. I love mystical drawings and the like and would like to see what if anything you guyz would be willing to share on the topic.

I have a collection of sigils I've made, one of which I use as a crest, but they're more sterile and artificial than that example. Shall I post them anyway?
Roy Batty · 2022-07-21 19:43
I actually have a whole book on images like this, look up the meaning of symbols, any in particular you want to see?

OP pic reminded me of this. I talked to one of the members, actually the exact week this CD was released, and he said that we know certain symbols and imagery because they are in our DNA.
I used to dream simple images, then wake up and draw them. Not stylized like these snakes, more like stuff you could scribble with a bic pen in 10 seconds. I never found out what they meant but they seemed important. Now I can't remember what they were... one was a circle with two arrowheads indicating a direction of flow but with lines coming in from the side indicating energy from outside as well. Something like that anyway.

Alright; I've vector and raster versions, but will only include the former; the first is my crest, and notice I've also taken the effort to animate that one. I'll include it without the animation as well, so that the file preview will look nice.

Some look better as the circular versions I made, particularly the last one.

That's the Auryn from The Neverending Story.

First and third images are sunwheel variants representing renewal and rebirth. The other one was just too good to pass up on showing it.

Sonnenrad symbols are always cool.(USER WAS WARNED FOR THIS POST, You should always elaborate on your opinions rather than just spilling the soykaf.)
Lunch · 2023-08-31 20:43

I like the rose cross. My family has previously been in freemasonry for many generations. My grandfather was a 33rd degree freemason and pretty high up. I don't think I'll ever get into it though. The symbols are cool.

Freemason here. I also love the rose-cross, but I like the pelican even more.
The 18th degree, Knight (or Prince) Rose Croix, has an alternate name: Knight of the Eagle and the Pelican, combining the bravery of the first and the sacrifice of the second. Two sides of the same coin. That's incredibly badass.

>brings up the holocaust in a discussion about occult images
>is confused/angry that someone refutes it (even with sources)
Yeah okay, man.
Interestingly, the national socialists did have connection to a group of the occult (Vril Society) and there was plenty of imagery around this, not just the sonnenrad, but even the swastika had connections to most civilizations (mainly due to celestial bodies, namely the big/little dipper during each solstice forming a swastika together.)

This is similar to the flag of Louisiana. Is this symbol with the pelican closely related to Freemasonry?
Agent Jones · 2023-09-02 09:49
I like pic related, while it's not exactly occult in nature.

Which part of the picture you are talking about? Do you mean the the Rosy Cross or the bird? If you mean the bird, then I think it refers to the suffering and self-sacrifice of Christ. The Rosy Cross is related to Christian Rosenkreuz/Rosicrucianism, and also freemasonry: https://sacred-texts.com/eso/sta/sta33.htm
Not much is known about Rosicrucianism. It may have started out as an offshoot of freemasonry (or perhaps not?).
The book "The Secret Teachings Of All Ages" (the version printed by Dover) has a lot of beautiful symbols and pictures.
If you like sigils, then you will probably love The Lesser Key Of Solomon, or The Lemegeton,: http://esotericarchives.com/solomon/lemegeton.htm
Check out the part called "Ars Goetia": http://www.esotericarchives.com/solomon/goetia.htm
I heard that Orobas is very trustworthy daemon. But I recommend that you are careful.
ascii.monster · 2023-09-05 13:03
troll cross - a protection symbol supposedly used in Scandinavia. Although there is strong evidence that it was created as jewelry in the 90s.
Either way, I think it looks cool, and if i wasn't so self conscience, I'd probably buy a cool one and wear it. I'm just scared of looking like a loser wearing some necklace. idk.
Unnamed · 2023-09-17 11:01
There's this book called Alchemy and Mysticism by Alexander Roob, and it has a bunch of old drawings and woodcuts regarding the occult.
