>A silent film is a film with no synchronized recorded sound (and in particular, no audible dialogue). Though silent films convey narrative and emotion visually, various plot elements (such as a setting or era) or key lines of dialogue may, when necessary, be conveyed by the use of title cards.
Let's discuss and recommend silent films to each other.

IIRC one of the first silent films I saw was
>Faust (could be a variation of the name been like 16 years lol)
It was a movie adaptation of Goethes story, basically god and the devil bet over who can win the soul of a man, so satan causes a plague to descend upon the earth, and Dr. Faust, unable to cure it with science goes to a crossroads and summons Mephisto who promises to help him cure the curse in exchange for his soul.

Recently watched the movie of OP pic, for what was described as an anti-war movie I found it pretty tame, at most it had a few scenes where the concept of "War is hell" was made very clear. Maybe it's because it's been almost a century and now it's a common sentiment, when on the time it was made it wasn't so.

The Charlie Chaplin classic The Kid is now 100 years old. Very accessible. Highly recommended.

Did the Stooges ever do a silent pastiche? They would have still been in the public consciousness during their early years.
