tkmiz is probably my favourite manga artist of all time. his blend of surrealism and depressiveness is really special to me. shimeji simulation is moving by pretty slowly but i've been enjoying it a lot, i've never seen anything like it. girl's last tour was a wonderful read as well, and i really like his early 2hu doujin flan wants to die.

i've been reading Crows, really enjoying it so far. my problems with a lot of manga is that they just continue on so long without really having a reasonable end point like anime does, i think that's just due to the nature of the medium (american comic books have the same problem).

That definitely is a problem with the industry, once a series gets popular and starts selling well the publishers want to stretch it out and milk as much cash as they can, so editors will actively encourage mangaka to pad length and keep adding on new arcs

Anime tends to have the opposite problem as they primarily serve as marketing for LNs and Manga now. An anime will often gloss over large parts of a source material (regardless of whether or not it is filler material) and often never actually conclude because its completed its primary purpose of getting people to buy the source material.

Dungeon Meshi has become fairly popular, but everything else that Kui Ryoko has made is great, and gets very little attention. Thanksfully it's scanlated on mangadex.
The latest chapters of Jashin-chan Dropkick aren't even scanlated, but fortunatly they have furigana so even a beginner in japanese like me can try to read them. It's a surprisingly good manga given the stupid premise.

She's an allegory for teenage angst, teenagers first brush with nihilism and their (our) first realization of the contradictions in societal morals. The MC being an easily impressed, pretentious youth; reads literature that he doesn't really understand and it sends him down a path of conflict with the society he feels so out of place in. He eventually grows up, and she disappears. But that's just an opinion. My opinion. Either way, good manga.

>I'm still amazed how well the humor holds up despite having some dated references, its social commentary on modern society is still on point.
The artstyle looks interesting, but it's described like this:
>Each chapter or episode of the series revolves around a particular aspect of life, Japanese culture, or a common phrase in the Japanese language. Typically, this involves the subject being taken either to its most logical extreme (a discussion of amakudari, the practice of "descending" from the public to the private sector, results in Nozomu "descending" until he reaches his previous life), or taken literally (in Nozomu's family, omiai, normally a meeting between a potential match in an arranged marriage, is instead a marriage made official by eye-contact).
This either sounds like you need to be Japanese to comprehend it at any level, or a turboweeb with stratospheric powerlevel.
I'll check it out, but I expect it to be about as understandable as a series about Uzbekistani puns and regional stereotypes.

nacuN is a cool weird manga. A japanese university student watches the thesis of a mathematics professor who has lost half of his brain in an accident. This thesis is in the form of a two hour video of dolphins. He believes there's an encrypted and/or subliminal message in the video so he decides to travel to Okinawa to study the dolphins that the professor filmed.
The plot is set in the near-future. The sci-fi elements are subtle. And it portrays crime in SEA in this low sci-fi setting.

Ok, but what's the point of detailing child abuse in such a erotic point of view? Is not like he is showing the deep scars that child abuse produces, he is just showing a guy squeezing the loli's cheeks while she opens her mouth. It's a work of art, not reality. He doesn't have to show that, but he does it anyway and it has a purpose. The purpose, in my opinion, is that the guy is a freak sexualizing children for the sake of it and I should be hanging in the forest of suicide.

I just read the first volume of Fire Punch the other day and I didn't think it was too wild.
Not sure why bad weather would turn everyone into a rapist or someone who gets off to killing people however. Pretty bleak view on humanity the author must have.
I also reread some Berserk tho, and the pedo soykaf was way worse than I remembered, from Puck to Schirke, but particularly that insect children arc was way unnecessary in how graphic it was. Most of the manga I have read that involves violence is centered around the violence being meaningful to the story.
Most of the sexual content I have seen deals little with the story and is mostly there as fanservice.
If there is sexual content that deals directly with the story I can understand it, but sex for sex sake, just like violence to be edgy is pretty pointless to be honest.
I don't mind occasional sex in a story, but I feel like stories centered around sex is like watching porn for the story.

>Everything in this world is my enemy. This kind of world is worthless. A boy, who is called a demon with no human heart, breathes, lives and imagines. But what is the pounding in his heart when he heard he is going to save the world? That’s not his wish, though…
I liked it because of how morally grey each of the characters are. Despite their desires to make the world a better place, most of the characters are heartless edgelords. It puts an interesting dynamic on the "hero" subject who becomes a hero for possibly all the wrong reasons.
