What about the next Blade Runner, sequel or spin-off? > During an interview with Yahoo! during a promotional tour for the 2015 film The Martian, > Ridley Scott expressed interest in making additional films. In October 2017, Villeneuve > said that he expected a third film would be made if 2049 was successful. Writer of both films > Hampton Fancher also revealed that he was considering reviving an old story idea involving > Deckard travelling to another country, and Ford said that he would be open to returning if he > liked the script. In January 2018, Scott stated that he had "another story ready to evolve > and be developed, that there is certainly one to be done for sure", referring to a third Blade > Runner film.

If Ridley Scott is not involved in the script or day-to-day production and if Denis Villeneuve has full creative and hiring control, I'd be A-OK with another movie in the Blade Runner universe. Villeneuve pulled off that rarest of accomplishments, a sequel that's even better than a cult-classic original. He knows his stuff. I'd prefer it not to be another action flick involving the Decker backstory, though. There's more ideas to explore in that world. I'd love to see a nice slow-burn drama around the questions raised by the two existing movies, through new characters' eyes.

>>5673 I think action would be ok, I mean Ford is old now so he's limited but he's experienced and wise, his foes are young and arrogant, so it would be an interesting mix if executed well

>>5673 Better? Really? The original is by far the better movie. But, I don't disagree that 2047 is isn't an amazing movie. Both movies were fantastic and quite enjoyable to watch (even the animated shorts that took place between the two movies were great). However, I don't care about a continuation of the story, I would rather see stories that take place in the same universe. Like, we are starting to see deepfake get to the point that they are able to recreate peoples faces in movies, it would be great to see how Roy escaped and got back to earth. And they could use deepfake to recreate his face. Or, maybe make a completely new story in the same universe. Like, maybe someone who tries to go after Wallace Corp because they are humanist's who views the new replicants as something Wallace can use to create an army (which he mentioned in 2047) to essentially take over the whole world. IDK, all I want to see is more futuristic cyber punk movies.

>>5664 >third film would be made if 2049 was successful Sadly this is the problem, both Blade Runners were commercial flops despite critical success and studios are increasingly unwilling to take large risks like that. A good TV program may be the only way that it can be revived now thanks to various services now hunting for the next prestige show they can have. As for the actual content I would be happy so long as it maintained the style of the originals and didn't become generic action soykaf. I think I agree with the other posters who would prefer another story with new characters in the same setting though.
