Cool fact about that she-wolf one. The babies were added by a Renaissance artist but the wolf was made sometime between the 5th century BC or 12th AD (hotly disputed). It possibly wasn't intended to be related to Rome.

>A picture of the White Angel of Mileševa was sent as a message in the first satellite broadcast signal from Europe to America after the Cuban Missile Crisis, as a symbol of peace and civilization.[3] Later, the same signal, containing the White Angel, was transmitted to space in an attempt to communicate with extraterrestrial life forms.[4][5]

So do you think you should be proud of things you don't choose or not? Is a person being proud of their sexuality and putting a flag in their butt bad, yet being proud of being white and killing other races is good?
You're the only person here asserting that being proud of things you can't choose is a good thing

USA is not a western or a white country. It is 56% white (at best) and is VERY culturally mixed, like Brazil. It is also completely subservient to transnational corporations who want them to be a nation of braindead consumerists who will all buy one product, hence the heavily promoted trashiness.

folk culture always allowed for forms of crass revelry. neither wiggers nor juggalos are socially acceptable, but that also makes them explicitly not deviant. that might seem like a contradiction, but it's not: behavior only becomes deviant when it starts to compete for socio-normative status. i'll give you some better examples of white deviance: unwed women in their 30s, menchildren who coast by contributing absolute minimum to the society, white people who argue for the destruction of their own culture. those behaviors are obviously non-normative, because they are unsustainable: low-birth rates, economic stagnation and outright self-sabotage obviously lead to self destruction. unlike juggalos though those three examples i gave are competing for socio-normative status, which makes them deviant.

in america, when more than three white guys assemble in a single place, they call it "a nazi rally". since their education norms are set by mcdonalds and cocacola, they don't really know that white culture exist, and reaching for its examples they mostly find juggalos and eminem (also cousin Jack, who's allegedly a KKK member, but they don't talk about Jack at family dinners). i think we can forgive them their ignorance.

well, the thread started with vaporwave, which is pretty cyberpunk, but there was a good faith dialog between the participants, that perhaps fashwave is not really "white identity", but just a silly american fad. so people started posting examples of timeless white art. at the point the thread would've ended, the dialog is over, but then the commissars showed up, and acused everyone of being a nazi, reminding everyone why nobody likes commissars to begin with.

Commissars are not in it to establish the truth, they are not even a coherent group. They are usually a bunch of trolls derailing a conversation, but hiding behind principles of moral superiority. They don't have any authority nor do they use good faith argument. It's guilty until grovel innocent, and any opposition is seen as admission of gulit. This is just your protestant model of guilt (these commissars are often first generation atheist from protestant families) applied to novel concepts, and like any witchhunt it serves no purpose except to terrorise innocent people.
Cat Mother · 2020-02-13 16:57
>>5046
But, the people who support people like Richard Spencer who promote white identity have a reputation of supporting violence and genocide. These are not bad faith arguments. This is pointing out the actual physical real world results of this kind of ideology. The death of Heather Heyer, People Gun toting with RWDS patches( Right-Wing Death Squad) making threats. These are all the people who promote white identity. With all this in mind, you can understand why people hesitate.
Cereal Killer · 2020-02-13 17:26
>>5047
You can't prove being or not being, that's why inquisition, stalin's purges, mccarthyism, etc. are so effective: they fundamentally rely on bad faith arguments. You can accuse someone of being a fascit, but unless you have a proof that person is engaged in fascist activities, instead you rely on secondary circumstantial evidence, you're in bad faith. Of course that means that with some people you won't ever know, and it is like kicking dead whales down the beach, but catching someone out by relying on bad faith arguments means that you've potentially accused an innocent person.
Like in your case it's guit by association. Richard spencer supports white identity, you support white identity, therefore you're also responsible for Spencer's actions.
There might be a person on this thread who has, for example, donated to Richard Spencer's campaign (?), or maybe they wrote an impassioned article in support of Spencer specifically, in which case you can argue that particular connection. But people engaged in a conversation with that person are still not responsible for Spencer's actions. Maybe I have a friend who's a Spencer supporter (I don't) and maybe I don't consider him to be the literal incarnation of devil, so I talk to him. I could be for example trying to help him take a more moderate position. Maybe I'm the person who's standing between him and some kind of violent direct action. You wouldn't know, without careful _good faith_ investigation. But guilt by association makes me guilty.
Of course if you argue that supporting white culture is fascist in itself, then participating in this thread makes one fascist.
Cutter · 2020-02-13 18:03
>>5048
> it's guilt by association. Richard spencer supports white identity, you support white identity, therefore you're also responsible for Spencer's actions.
Your not guilty of his actions, But it is worrying when people support the same exact idea that causes these incidents in the first place. If I say something like x did nothing wrong. I didn't cause whatever x did in this situation. But, you are supporting of the doing of said thing, and are actively encouraging more of it.
>I could be for example trying to help him take a more moderate position. Maybe I'm the person who's standing between him and some kind of violent direct action. You wouldn't know, without careful _good faith_ investigation.
maybe you are, I honestly don't know your life, but posting fashwave of white nationalists isn't going to de-radicalism that person.
Chan Siu Ming · 2020-02-13 18:25
>>5049
worrying is fine though, but the action we're discussing is "accusing people of being nazis" which actually took place. you're free to worry, you're not free to make baseless accusations. if someone were to actually say "richard spencer did nothing wrong" in this thread, then that would be an action, but no such action took place. do you see the difference between action and insinuation?
as far as my friend, that was just a hypothetical, so the point of this thread is not to "de-radicalize" my friend either, the point of this thread was to post "anything white identity", which in itself does not constitute support of fascism.
i think your position is racist and nationalistic: i had to lookup who richard spencer was (i read the name before) and i had to look up who heather heyer is, and it's all so small town america, inconsequential in the grand scheme of things, that i see clearly the caliber of a person I'm talking to. that's why i dislike commissars so much, because they come from blue collar christian families, pick up a handful of concepts out of an abridged edition of some european thinker at college, and then push and derail every single conversation they muscle into, e.g. a thread that almost was about european art turned into a conversation about "charlottsville", "juggalos" and eminem.
Neo · 2020-02-13 18:52
>>5050
> a thread that almost was about european art turned into a conversation about "charlottsville", "juggalos" and eminem.
I can understand, but it was about white identity, a concept and ideology explicitly tied to fascism. While European art / Western art is tied to a geographical location. I know it seems like similar things, but the details are important here, both to stop thread derailment, and not support the ideology's that push it.
>i think your position is racist and nationalistic: i had to lookup who richard spencer was (i read the name before) and i had to look up who heather heyer is, and it's all so small town america, inconsequential in the grand scheme of things, that i see clearly the caliber of a person I'm talking to. What exactly are you referring to here? I don't know What you mean here. I'm racist because I'm against the ideology that murdered someone? "It's so small town america?" In reference to what? if you compare anything to the "grand scheme of it all" nothing means anything. This is thought pollution, that just discounts anything.
Unnamed · 2020-02-13 19:32

The actions of actual fascists resulted in deaths of 70 million white europeans. The actions of some larper in america resulted in some other larper running over and killing some third larper. That's what I mean by "small town". A handful of hicks coming out for a demonstration versus a great war that affected every single family in europe. By equating the small town larpers to actual fascists you devalue the experiences of millions of people (some of them are still living, some are direct descendants, etc) America is full of movie rhetoric, but aside from an occasional campus skirmishes, nothing is going on. Considering that your country has imprisoned, killed, and otherwise got rid of a large number of both white and black paramilitary groups, all you got let are keyboard commissars.
The phrase that I actually used is "racist and nationalistic", because it's not just racist, it's both at the same time. You take your national race related issues and conclusions from those issue and apply them to other countries along racial lines. Because you live in an imperial country, you're infected by imperialist thinking.
I personally don't see any issue with using the term white art to encompass a wide range of european art. For one, russian art historically was not considered european, or if it was then it was during very brief periods when russian aristocracy was closely aligned with french aristocracy. Early american art, back when wealthy people maintained their european roots, could be considered european, but it very rapidly turned into american art. But if you talk american art, then you necessarily include black art, which is of course a completely legitimate term, but black art is a very distinct form of (from the european art tradition) outsider art. Also obviously ancient sculpture is not considered to be "european art", it's explicitly art of classical antiquity. so if one were to celebrate art produced by white people, within the lineage of greco-roman to european to american tradition, one could use the term white art to encompass it all. not that it used to just be called "western art", but because of people like you, western art no longer denotes white art exclusively in english language. of course you want culturally white people to deny them that experience, which makes you a racist.
