Does /vis/ know of any films that capture the merciless battle for life? Something that stimulates by viscerality, gruesomeness and chaos. I saw Seven Samurai recently, and the climactic battle at the end of the film was nearly unparalleled for me in this aspect - the screams, the rage, the absolute chaos of warfare. I'm looking for something that really captures the reality of having to fight for all that you are, especially if it is framed through war or battle.

The 12th Man... Norwegian film about a resistance fighter evading the Nazis. Think of the worst things that can happen to a human body surviving in the cold short of death and you pretty much have the idea.

Thank you lainon. I will look into that. I am specifically interested in films that study (directly or indirectly) the suffering of man the short time that he is on this earth. The desecration of his earthly body, the degeneration of his spirit, the glimmer of hope that we find in faith.
