I remember seeing this way back (on what I believe was the /civ/ board?) It seemed most appropriate to post it here. Post any pictures you've taken from normally inaccessible areas here.

Pretty amazing, man, love urban scapes, specially with a bit of out of this world vibe, and those are some great ones.
Pris · 2018-10-28 17:21
I have been interested in getting into rooftopping for some time now, but don't know even in the slightest how to get going.
Do you just pick a building and go inside to look for a way to the top? Is there anything I should know about building layout/ architecture? Isn't there always going to be a locked door somewhere on the way up?

Thanks man, "out of this world" is a p good way to describe it now that I think about it lol. I try to take pictures in ways that sort of contradict the normal boring look of my city.

It's mainly trial and error. I used to use google maps and such for bigger sites, but I find that once you figure out how these buildings are structured it's much easier to just feel your way around. So yeah, it's pretty much just picking a nice looking building/view, going inside (which usually consists of just looking like you belong there, or climbing scaffolding and finding a point of entry) and making your way up.
Buildings that are in use usually have tons of locked doors, so your best bet is generally something abandoned or under construction. It's also generally good to know the laws of your area. In Canada for example (where I'm from) trespass is met with little more than a slap on the wrist (guards telling you to leave) - and if they try and confine you you're well within your rights to escape as it's considered false imprisonment (unless you've committed an indictable offense on the property).
Start off with something small and move your way up, you'll be takin bangers in no time, lainon.

I've been to a few abandoned places before, but I always get way too paranoid about getting either caught and in legal trouble, or running into a malicious stranger/homeless person and being murdered, so I end up being very nervous and it ruins the experience. Doesn't help that I'm physically weak and don't own or know how to use any weapons. I really love pictures like these though and at my own uni I try to do a little urbex in the older parts of large buildings that are kind of run-down. Not as extreme as getting on rooftops, but still fun.

there was a temporary staircase made of scaffolding along the whole side of the building, covered in tarp.

I remember when I was still in high school a couple friends and myself went into this abandoned factory by some train tracks on the outskirts of my town. We went in through a rusted out hole in the fence and the place looked like a nuclear apocalypse. Rubble, broken glass, and garbage everywhere, and it was great. Some parts of the building were still standing and we went inside one. My foot went through the floor right by a puddle of water and some wires. There was some amazing graffiti murals right by a Subway sandwich that looked new. Guess the guy doing the murals heard us and hid somewhere. But the real kicker was this boat on top of a pile of rubble in the middle of everything. We had no idea how it got there or who even took the time to put a random boat inside a condemned factory. Soykaf was cash yo.
I took pictures of the scene but I gave them to my friend. I'll post them here once I get them. The buildings are now being turned into "luxury rentals."

some abandoned textile factory in southern germany
The place was left pretty untouched, after they ripped out most of the interior.
On some walls I saw weird drawings, I thought were Graffiti, but it turned out to have been the locker room of the staff.
Some walls were just splashed with paint, which looked really crazy.

don't immediately dive into the deep, try to enjoy the shallow waters first and see how you like those. I take pleasure from small daily sightings, this is all this week. this summer, though, I intend to step up my game and make the most of all my spare time exploring my own city
