Let's post and critique pictures we've made. I'll start up by posting some pictures I took with my phone. Sorry if they're not at a high professional standard or good at all.

These have too big file size. Even on my very fast connection it takes time to load. Probably slow on the server end.

I think the bridge should be a little higher in the frame. You don't have to go with with the rule of thirds stuff, but since it draws your attention, I feel it should not be slammed right to the edge of the frame

I really like the window and the stairwell, very moody.
Are these done with a smartphone?

Ye the filesize is problematic. I was just too lazy to change the resolution. I'm sorry for that!
>>2538
I will consider that the next time I'm there. Unfortunately the bridge isn't all that tall so you immediately got the water in the frame which I found to be distasteful. Maybe it could work out with different lighting~
>>2540
All of them were made with a smartphone (Moto G4). Except for the first two pictures of this post

Thank you!

To raise the bridge without showing more water, well depending on the lighting, the water may draw very little attention. Otherwise, if you can shoot from higher up you may get an angle you like.

I like this one! Mostly because I'm into factories and big machinery. Would have been a little better if you could have aligned the crane better to the edges of the frame and maybe removed some of the red taint from the image. But I really enjoyed the picture overall!

i thought the position of the bridge made the road a sort of base to the photo, though if it were a bit lower we would see more of the buildings, which i feel might have been better. as it is, the emphasis seems to be on the thin wires holding the bridge up, which could give the impression that the tower has a tenuous grasp of the road or that the links between the tower and the road are tenuous. the road is visually the base of the photo and the thing which most people that have some interest in bridges actually think about. in the current aspect ratio a lot of sky is left above the top of the tower, which shows that there are places higher than it.

Couple of pics from a trip and one from my country.
All taken with my phone. Really considering to buy a camera tho, it's fun taking pictures and soykaf.

You guys are making me wish I tried more low-light photos. They always turn out super grainy with my camera though.

More background-y than boring. I'm collecting pics for a screen saver (new computer, all new screen saver; it's a tradition) so some of these are nice.

Hey I'll bite this is a really nice thread, recently got into film photography as a hobby, I like everything about it, the sound the camera makes, that grain on the film, the color especially. Here's some from Taiwan about a year ago.

Some photos from Vancouver - and Alaska from around 2 mo/ ago. All my black and white was totally overexposed on this trip - I will not make the same mistake again

i really like these, especially the last one with the gas pumps.
Liet Kynes · 2018-11-08 07:29

Not OP, but those are actually water pumps. Tap water there is too polluted to drink even after boiling.

A lot of TV shows have been shot in Vancouver and around southern BC because it's cheap to film there and a variety of ambiances from ultramodern urban to slummy to suburban to rural and most forms of wilderness are within a short drive. I always see that tower with that logo and am reminded, yeah that's not really DC or Manhattan or Atlanta after all. I don't think they have Scotiabank in the US but I just know it doesn't belong in prehistoric Caprica. lol.

Yeah it's insane I had no idea somewhere like this existed in Canada to be honest. I'm actually moving there in January from Ontario.

i really love the last one, it's really aesthetic. amazing lighting.
Spike Spiegel · 2018-11-19 21:00
Made with cheap Huawei P6 and Open Camera. I also have a Canon, but I bought the "wrong" kit, it's not suitable for things as I "see" them (have always to step back till I got it); mostly use it to make pictures at home and I'm too convenient and lazy to take it outside >.<
Maybe if I have the money for wide-angle objective, but now it's a little pointless.
