These are great. Did you read GIMP design books in order to get to this level? I can't do more than cropping, exporting into a different format and using the paint brush / inserting painfully basic text over vector .png's or ridiculously high-contrast images.
Eldon Tyrell · 2018-07-27 16:09
most of the gimp art I make is for my music project, so I can't show a lot of it because it's for future releases, but here's a few.
Otto Normalverbraucher · 2018-07-27 17:58
>>2281 my advice is to read up on general image processing. play around with the various hue/saturation/brightness/curves/white point/etc. settings and understand how they work. next learn the blend modes. if you're good with math, just read the wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blend_modes . then learn how blurs work. most "filters" in gimp are some variation of this technique (sharpen, edge detection, ...). check out the "general convolution" filter if you want to see a little bit under the hood (see if you can figure out how to get that RGB de-sync effect everyone loves hint: there is an option to set different kernels for each color channel). that should cover the basics. you might want to follow up by looking into databending techniques if that interests you at all. as you can see, i take a pretty analytical approach so ymmv. a lot of people just play around until they get used to what everything does. imo that doesn't work too well with glitch because it's hard to get consistent results if you have no idea what's going on under the hood (know the rules to break the rules kind of thing).

>>3303 and yes i agree. all city building games are soykaf. they focus on graphics and that limits the possiblities by exhausting resources of the computer and the developer team's time and workforce. there should be a city building game with early 2000's graphics but lot of possibilites, less limits and more realistic. A 5-8 years ago my workaround for this was building cities in minecraft. But there always was some very annoying bug related to the villagers that made me abandon it.

Y.T · 2020-01-30 18:33
>>4933 Nice, saved again :) Adobe has a few things to pack down PNG size I think. Don't judge pls, my place of work buys me a subscription and I run it on their machines. But it ain't working any miracles on this file size. And it takes a real long time to save... did you hide anything in here? lol

I'm experimenting with making randomly generated art. I wanted to post the JavaScript code I used to generate it, but it seems that the anti-spam protection won't let me post it and calls me a spammer for some reason.

About the reality of student life at the moment. The school system thought it'd be a bright idea to keep us away from school, but only after putting us in overcrowded buildings for an extra day, just in case.
