He came out of spurdo, which ironically came out of another meme, pedobear. Spurdo is very similar to pepe, but gondola is a different story. Gondola is a silent character that is placed on different scenarios. As that picture says, he's an observer. The reason why I and many people like him is because he's considered to be a more /comfy/ meme. There is no edit of gondola on an SS uniform, or an edit of gondola on a stupid rage comic, and that is because he's not supposed to be like pepe, he's just a simple character that can be placed on all kinds of places.
