>>13163 This look like ass. You can't just generate "pixel art", or at least this isn't the way. It looks ok on low-contrast areas (that's a fine tummy), but the outline is awfully noisy while the eyes blend with the face. >>13168 >>13172 I don't really like high-res / high-color pixel art. It looks too similar to low-res / low-color "normal" CG.

>>13174 Yeah I know, I see that opinion a lot when it comes to pixel art but I still enjoy high res and consider it pixel art. I understand why some people don't really like it. I just like this specific Siegmeyer pic because the style and the dithering of light+shadow. (Saw that gif on lambda I think? it's great.) For sure the best pixel art when it comes to games though is metal slug, that style is really sexy. A few years ago I found this hentai game (SiNiSistar) on some torrenting website, expecting it to be just another clunky unfinished mess but I ended up finishing the whole game. Think the game is Japanese, so of course, unbeknownst to me, it was filled with all sorts of gross monster/animal rape soykaf so I couldn't really beat my dick to it. The pixel art though, was beautiful. Not just the ample breasted nun girl but the levels and the level select screen were really well made. Surprisingly, It's getting a sequel on steam, so I guess I'm glad the dev is doing well (maybe not mentally).

>>13178 found some more, I really need a properly sorted folder on my NAS for sprites and wallpapers lol >>13179 >I still enjoy high res and consider it pixel art. me too, for me part of the beauty in Pixelart comes from the limitations it originates from, and that includes high-res.

>>13174 "high-res/high-color" is kind of an arbitrary distinction. Even so called "truecolor" images technically have some sort of palette/resolution limit. A more straigtforward example: this doom image by the same artist comes with the following description: "24 colors, all taken straight from the games original palette. Lots of browns and grays to calm down those super bright colors that game has." I like this guys work because the dithering is so meticulous that it gives a good impression there are more colors than there really are. For reference, Doom and Doom2 could only render 256 colors at a time, which is still pretty restrictive for a 3d game with granular lighting and whatnot. >>13179 And stuff like this, even though Metal Slug obviously has many more colors to work with than nes/snes/genesis stuff people commonly associate with "pixel art", the artists still had to be mindful of palette restrictions, moreso than the SiNiSistar ones to the right.

>>13181 Fighting games pretty consistently have the best character and background art from the "pre-truecolor" era. Some good galleries here: https://www.fightersgeneration.com/games/mvc-p6-3.html
