post your glitch art. instructions: open image in binary/hex editor replace text with random (or intentional) letters and or numbers save as image ????? profit.

>>12720 i recommend using bined on android and then taking a screenshot of the image
Terzibashjian · 2025-07-08 01:07
>>12721 Do you mean the hex editor?
Six · 2025-07-08 11:13
>>12722 yes. pretty useful for reversing as well or hacking games,
0xrei · 2025-07-08 14:42
>>12720 here we go looks quite nice i think
Nameless · 2025-07-08 21:14
>>12725 nice anon, how'd you get that last pic to turn out like that?
0xrei · 2025-07-09 10:13
>>12726 well, it was a gif before editing. I was hoping to add some glitches to it, but it turned into a static image. So i just saved it as an image
Cypher · 2025-07-09 14:24
>>12728 It probably corrupted the file too much. Maybe try turning the gif into individual frames and putting it back together again after glitching each frame
Hououin Kyouma · 2025-07-11 21:59
I just like to fuarrrk around w/ GIMP and some other software outside of it. Sometimes I make something decent on the odd occassion.
XERXES · 2025-07-12 02:06
>>12733 cool, do you mind elaborating on the process
Just another Random Lainon · 2025-07-12 17:38
>>12734 I can try. But I can't guarantee I'll be good at explaining. I just tend to do this without needing to think about my process. But usually I start with a base layer for my image. I usually add some video degradation filters heavily overlayed and then use the shift filter only a tad. I duplicate the new layer. Set the opacity to about 50% and I move the duplicated layer usually to the right just a tad or to the left or which ever way really till I get a weird motion like effect. Then I start adding a bunch of filters on top of filters to that image and start messing with the colour primarily using the Value Propagate filter, the shift filter, video degradation, and wind heavily. Then you duplicate that layer again, repeat the same steps but this time you adjust everything way different and go heavy on all those filters mentioned and play with the colours too. Overall you can basically just do layer upon layer if you really wanted and see what you end up with. Sometimes I use three. Sometimes six layers with a single differing image between the layers smartly blended in. I pretty much experiment when I do it so that's the best way to go. Just play around and have fun.

I've barely dabbled in glitch art, but it's fun to throw knives out in the dark. Could've sworn I've posted some of mine before, but I can't find it anywhere.
Tomohisa "Tom" Kanezaki · 2025-07-15 17:06
I found a tactic where you can modify the hexadecimal code of images, something that's shown here: https://breezewiki.com/poppy-playtime/wiki/Chapter_4_Icepick_ARG Discord user Drigil did this idea for two images, but has this idea been used by anybody else? There are a couple of parts in this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYC8w00L00s) - one at 00:16 and one at 1:22:16 if you're interested in glitch art.

Hope these count I used to fuarrrk around lots making things like these from pics i took in nature

>>12780 They're pretty especially the second one.
Faye Valentine · 2025-08-21 09:42
>>12780 This is some of the best work I've seen. Do you mostly do databending or use regular photoeditor features?
The Plague · 2025-08-21 11:55
>>12796 that looks like heavy use of regular photoediting features to me
Undisclosed · 2025-08-21 20:51
>>12780 What did you do to get the triangle lattice patterns and shapes in the second image? It looks very intriguing and I'd like to learn how to recreate it
Zhora · 2025-08-24 21:06
>>12789 thanks >>12796 a lot of techniques but it really just comes down to me messing around in photoshop and doing what looks cool. i like to overlay multiple pictures and play with the effects. >>12798 for this, i would get the pngs from wikipedia of different simplexes (eg. 10-simplex) and geometric math type things and then use it as a transparent overlay. ive generated fractals too and used those also. sometimes you get some crazy emergent features that appear. like, the 3rd pic was literally just a forest in winter that i kept mirroring and putting geometric on. Nothing more. I'd like to get making more again some day, and even using actual databending techniques. apologies for the massive size >post discarded

>>12801 Lovely stuff anon. This is yours?
Pris · 2025-08-25 22:04
>>12802 Yeah. Still got all the .psd’s and source material
Nobody important · 2025-08-26 00:51
>>12804 Do you go for some specific ideas with these? or take inspiration from visions or experiences? Basically curious about your creative proces
Anonymous · 2025-08-26 08:33
>>12805 I don’t really start with any vision of the end product whatsoever. I’ll find a picture that I took that speaks to me or feels a certain way then start adding stuff to it and changing it. I’ll usually be in the zone listening to music while im doing this. Sometimes I can briefly in my head visualize what I should do next. I guess that, a lot, I’ll try to put/encode a certain feeling into whatever im doing. Usually whatever song im listening to. Like drawing(?) something that cant be seen
Tank · 2025-09-09 15:14
Kinda glitch. Nothing to say about.

Here I sit, broken-hearted >flood detected, post discarded >Looks like you've been doing that a lot >[ Removed by Reddit ] >t. robot Attached: screenshot "Original" (since I can't upload the corrupted file directly): https://i.vgy.me/ZnT1Iz.jpg
Marly Krushkhova · 2025-09-25 06:54
Working with .gif is hard not to make it break. Watch out for F0 FF segments but even with that it's just checking result after each edit.
Zhora · 2025-09-25 12:46
After playing around I would advise to try .jpg, maybe .gif .png and .webp can break completely after changing one bit +/- 1

Alright, I'm looking for some help regarding making my own Glitch Art. I've been interested in it for a while, and I'm trying to use the guide in Lainzine 3 to make it. Here's my process, and the problem I'm having; >Have the drawing (png) >Export as .tif using Krita >Open .tif as a Raw Header in Audacity with A-Log encoding >fuarrrk up the audio and mess with it a bunch >Export the file as .raw with A-Log encoding >Change file extension from .raw to .tif >Cannot open file in Krita (I should be able to open the file in Krita) >It says it cannot parse the file format with no other details What might be wrong with what I'm doing, or what are any potential problems? It seems inexplicable since Krita can handle .tif files fine and nothing online indicates that this SHOULDN'T be working. I've tried other forms of file conversions and I'm led to believe that the problem here is Audacity fuarrrks up the file so badly when it's exported to .raw that nothing else can read it, so I feel like around that step is when things go wrong. As a side question, what techniques can you use to get the dragging/pulling pixel effect from pictures like these? What do?
Pris · 2025-09-26 07:02
>>12838 Depends on fromat but for dragging I would try to shift the bytes and fill empty with repeated first value or to "extend" values over period: Original: 00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 0A 0B... New: 00 00 00 00 00 01 02 03 04 09 0A 0B... OR 00 00 00 01 01 01 02 02 02 05 08 0B...
