Are there any normal person friendly movies about hacking and/or cyberspace? Something I could watch with my family. I thought the Snowden movie was pretty good. The Matrix is a classic. Something in that vein. I'm totally fine with it being cheesy.

>Blackhat (2015)
It was directed by a very prominent director, and is about a hacker who gets paroled from jail to help the government hunt down a script kiddie who hacked a nuclear power plant to blow it up.
>Untraceable (2008)
A cybercrime drama thriller about a serial killer who livestreams his kills based on the number of viewers and the FBI agent who is hunting him down. It's actually a terrible movie, but it's normal person enough.
>Johnny Mnemonic (1995)
Keanu Reeves' better cyberpunk adventure.
>Gamer (2009)
In a world where instead of the metaverse you have humans who get paid to be avatars, smelly neckbeards and 12 year olds pay to take control of poor people and prisoners for their ERP and FPS open world adventures, until a hacker decides to try to bring down the system.
>Grandma's Boy (2006)
A a comedy about a brilliant game designer who works with a bunch of autistic game testers, and one of those testers lives with his grandmother and her friends.
>Cyberbunker (2023)
A netflix documentary so not sure if it's something you are interested in, but it follows a group of hackers who turn a cold war NATO bunker into a hacker lair and anger basically everyone by being untouchable and hosting lots of questionable or illegal content.
>Autómata (2014)
A cyberpunk movie about antonio banderas being a detective who investigates robots.
If you want more robots/cyberpunk and humans for normal people, you could try these, but you it all depends on taste.
>Her (2013)
>iRobot (2004)
>Chappie (2015)
>Elysium (2013)
>The Creator (2023)
For more of the crime/espionage angle of cyberpunk
>The Bourne Series
>The girl with the dragon tattoo series
>The Bladerunner series

Isn't something supposed to actually be funny if it's considered a "comedy"? This is one of the most painfully unfunny piles of trash I've ever seen, and it certainly wasn't intelligent to compensate.

In that case, Hackers (1995) is something to consider. It's very cheesy, very normalfaggy, but good for a bit of dumb fun and it's the origin of a few nuggets of hacker culture, most notably "The Gibson" as an in-jokey expression for some big computer system as a target.
Also seconding Johnny Mnemonic, because it's damn good.

I like Sneakers 1992, somewhat realistic, not entirely so but enough

1970 Colossus, computer has the power to take over the world. I vaguely remember it as being pretty good at the time, but I'm not sure how relevant it would be now.
1983 War Games, kid hacks into NORAD and unwittingly almost starts WW3.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo mentioned above is a good movie, but only peripherally about hacking. Worth watching anyway.
