I'm enamoured by guro art, not because of something sexual, but because I find beauty in the inner workings of the human body. It's like a machine mixed with a mycelium network, and seeing that mix of natural and robotic traits broken open feels inherently cyberpunk, even without any actual cyborg augments added. Is that strange? I know this isn't a primarily NSFW site, but the aesthetic just seems to fit for me.

Am I the only one here who feels this way about the human body?

In the same boat. Nothing sexual about it, I just find it really neat. Only difference is that it's not really something that I seek out, and I find it more appealing when it's cartoonized or not over the top gory like >>10509 . Things like "candy gore" and >>10508 are alot better imo. I will say, I would attempt drawing something like >>10509 to practice anatomy and how our insides are wired together. Bonus points if actual machinery is introduced in the art piece. Love the idea of machine imbedded within human bodies. gore or not.

>>10510 >Bonus points if actual machinery is introduced in the art piece. Love the idea of machine imbedded within human bodies. I see the structure of bones and joints and muscles, and the function of organs and receptors, as sufficiency machine-like as they are. But I agree, the addition of man-made machinery is interesting in it's own right as well; in a way there are imperfections in the natural structure of a person, and yet our attempts to replicate or add functions using machines are imperfect in a different sense. Limitations create a unique beauty.

>>10508 I agree, I find it to be captivating.Unfortunately I think that the vast majority of guro art I see is drawn very poorly and lacking basic details like fat. I think most of the people that consume it are more interested or attracted to the fact that it's supposed to be shocking, so most of the art is over-the-top cartoonish violence with ketchup blood, without stopping to appreciate the inherent beauty of violence, injury, and the human body. I used to look up gore to replace that missing niche but it's very bad for your brain.

>>10512 >I think that the vast majority of guro art I see is drawn very poorly and lacking basic details like fat. From my searches it seems that the more sexually oriented guro tends to be the most detailed, which is unfortunate for one like myself who only wants to see the gore. On a side note I've started seeing gorey banners on this site, so I assume I don't need to be using spoilers for these unless they contain nudity.

>>10508 lain, I feel precisely the same way. As a child I would use my "unrestricted internet access" to watch surgery videos. Speaking of, consider watching surgery footage! Not only do you get to appreciate the inner workings of the human body, you get to see it poked and prodded with advanced technology. Quite /cyb/ in its own right. My personal favorites are heart, brain, and eye surgeries (in order of least favorite to most) I'm even lucky enough to have a girl-friend (stress on the hyphen) that draws western-style guro, and she gives some of it to me.

>>10514 I watched a bunch of surgery videos for MTurk gigs (they wanted me to rate the skill of the surgeon and paid like 50 cents), kind of interesting. There was one where there was some fleshy bit that kept rhythmically protruding and retracting from a hole, and the surgeon was trying to pierce it with a hook before it could slide back in. Still no idea WTF that was but it's surprising the human body contains weird soykaf like that. The tiny robot arms they use are neat also.

aw hell yeah finally someone who gets it Ive always put emphasis on muscles and such in my art and draw cyborgs as an excuse to draw bare muscle structures and tendons and shi like that, Ive always wanted to express my love for the complexity and beauty of the inner workings of the human body but ive always been scared someone would think im weird for it. I agree op I dont like guro for anything fetishistic but the attention to detail it brings to the body in a way you only really see in gory video games >>10510 this, I love playing around with augmentation and stuff in my mind I like to imagine what can be attached the body and in what ways, you cant just slap anything on you need an appreciation for the body to think of something that looks good

>>10508 i guess maybe it's the morbid curiosity and the fragility of human life that makes it interesting
Ishikura "Tatsu" Tatsuhiko · 2023-05-30 14:51
Enjoying guro "aesthetically" kind of comes off as pretentious to me. That's like saying you watch scat porn for the plot. Guro and ryona are fetishes, they're meant to be enjoyed sexually. "candy guro" and pastel pink menhera stuff is really lame, I wish those types of undesirables would stop invading the regular guro circles

>>10508 I like guro art because it looks good and is interesting. It's also sexual but in a way that shows you the dark side of sex but still let's you find beauty in it. Western neolib society is obsessed with sex positivity while woefully ignorant of just how dark and reptilian lust actually is. We're all encouraged to discover our true sexuality which is supposed to be a good healthy sexuality, if we desire disturbing things that's because of patriarchy, or capitalism, trauma or child abuse, pick your poison and we need therapy. Your pressured into conforming and feeling negative if you don't, and that negative attitude will make your dark side worse. Sure, the lust for spilling blood, rape, taboo sex or seeing someone's intestines is reptilian and savage, but it is inside all of us to a some degree. It's a fundamental element of the human experience. It's dangerous and horrifying, but there's a beauty to it too. Guro, eroguro even lolis etc. are like a mirror that reflects the depths of our id. We can safely explore our dark side, let out that energy and keep it safely locked in the reptilian area of our brains. The downside is some people have less control, so this stuff can potentially make them worse. Anyway, I'd rather see guro art than actual gore. It feels disrespectful gloating at a person's corpse, especially if they're innocent or died accidentally. It feels disrespectful to the dead.
