What media do you enjoy that compares to Tsutomu Nihei's Blame! series? We're talking megastructures, baroque post-cyber character design, meta-Giger body horror, etc.
>Aposimz, Knights of Sidonia
Nihei's other work, much better than Biomega.
>Blame! movie
I thought it was an excellent adaptation--nailed the atmosphere and was actually a meaningful implementation of CG anime.
>Lorn's Lure
Upcoming game, has a demo on Steam. Directly inspired by Nihei.
>"Build-up" by JG Ballard
Short story that is, as far as I know, the first conception of an inescapable, totalizing "megastructure". Unclear if it inspired Nihei but extremely similar in content.
>Aeon Flux
The early Peter Chung shorts, though the MTV series is still pretty decent--some of the shorts use visual/environmental features very similar to Nihei's.
What else do you think fits the style?

Hey, not bad. Reminded me of "Mad God", also.

Less high-tech, but fit the theme of the environment being a character and the enemy.
Smallcreep's Day, by Peter Currell Brown
Gormenghast, by Mervyn Peake
Made in Abyss, by Akihito Tsukushi

Hilariously, all I'm coming up with now is the bad-not-bad Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within--if you look past the aughts presentation and hone in on the environmental details, there's a lot of similarity.

Girls last tour, I love my potato waifus.
The manga is good too spoiler:the chapter where the AI begs the mc's to kill it was really sad, as was a lot of the story

Try the game NaissanceE.
It's a walking simulator/exploration game that's heavily inspired by Blame!.
Some areas are puzzles and some require parkour, others are dead ends, and some even defy Euclidian space rules.
I highly recommend.
