do you like this? do you think facial coverings will ever be normalized in the urban united states? do you live the cyberpunk lifestyle?
Crash Override · 2023-01-02 08:56
I think they're already relatively normalized. how long will it last ? indefinitely ? maybe, quite possibly. But only certain types of people are going to be wearing them, and if you go out wearing one it will mark you as one of them. What exactly is the CYBER PUNK lifestyle?

>>10252 >do you think facial coverings will ever be normalized in the urban united states? i dont think they'll ever be normalised but they'll definitely be more common, even before the pandemic i was noticing a rise in stylised face coverings especially in the city, i can only assume that with the rise of sites like wish where you can get alot of cool masks and stuff fairly cheap and the normalization of aesthetic culture and general weebery that people are going to be more comfortable wearing these kinds of accessories. only issue i see is that there is quite a bit of hostility from small but vocal groups of people who object to the wearing of masks 'unnecessarily", only the other day i was berated by an older lady for wearing a regular mask in kmart while i had a cough so i imagine something much more stylized and out there wont lead to a much better response.

>>10253 >>10254 where do you live where face coverings are normalized?? i wish I could dress more outrageously and anonymously. i think you can get away with a kempo in a big city at night though especially if there are any events

>>10255 OK, what exactly does 'normalized' mean ? What exactly is the 'Urban United States'? Since the start of le corona I've been to the south, southwest, midwest and east, and visited cities (lets say over about 100kpop) in each of em. Vs 2018, mask wearing is WAY up. Spend a day in the city and the odds of seeing a person wearing a mask in 2018 ime were less than 10% if its over 10 degrees out. Nowadays spend a day in the city even in 100 degree weather and you have good odds of seeing at least a handful of masks. Stores don't seem to be hostile to it but IDK Ive never been much of a mask person myself so maybe I just don't see the hostility. If you want normal to mean even odds of any given person outside wearing one type of soykaf then sure idk my bet is it doesnt happen in the next hundred years nor probably next thousand. But it has gotten a lot more common and people don't seem to batt too many eyes in the big cities. If you're out on the street wearing soykaf like (op) pic related though people are gonna be giving you funny looks even if you skip the facecovering, cause thats just weird. More subtle is the neurotic (secular) jew look, the facemasked jogger, or the expert trusting College Graduate.

I like being able to filter out air pollution and I feel more comftorable from how a mask makes me a little more anonymous in person. It cant get too common though. Some places in the US there are anti masking laws which originally were targeted at the KKK nowadays it's used by cops to just arrest anyone for being vaguely "suspicious"
