Is Kimi no na wa out on torrent yet? I was going to check it out at nyaa.se, but nyaa.se is closed, so my next question is where do you guys get your anime fix from?

>>282 >where do you guys get your anime fix from? The first place I look for is usually horriblesubs.info, high quality V/A, good subs, got no complaints there. Then there's http://coalgirls.wakku.to, they don't have alot but their stuff is still pretty high quality. The last site I use before just doing a web search is masterani.me
Marly Krushkhova · 2017-05-09 22:16
https://9anime.to/watch/kimi-no-na-wa.nkll/mvw04v not a torrent, but subbed stream is this what you are looking for lain?
Meddler · 2017-05-10 01:43
>>291 what? horriblesubs has very soykaf quality because they rip their video directly from a streaming site (crunchyroll) and do not reencode anything; their stuff isn't even 10bit as far as I'm aware. You say coalgirls "still" is pretty quality as if it is lesser than a soykafe stream rip. Please don't spread misinformation.

http://nyaarchive.moe/?view/914518 Next time look for yourself before you post. There's bakabt, animebytes and minglong.org. Just whatever you do kid, don't do the streams. streams are the devil I tell you.

>>299 I suggest you look on the websites of the release groups, such as doki, asenshi, deadfish, coalgirls, fff, commie and so on. >>303 Bakabt did not die, they went private and their site got ddos'd. They will be back in a couple of weeks. >>305 Exactly. You wouldn't watch a movie from a YIFY release either, would you? Here is a comparison between 720p bluray and a 720 stream. It's plain soykaf, but if you can handle soykaf quality and not feel like you are missing out, then power to you.

I thought about it. Here you go. Good thing about streaming: -You don't have to touch your storage space. -It's easier for peolpe who can't use computers very well. Good thing about downloading: -You can build an archive, so that you can redistribute and watch even without a fast internet connection or if the website goes down. -Waaay better quality because of way higher bitrate, more colors, higher resolution, better audio quality and bonuses such as scanned artbooks on commentary tracks included in the download. Especially on a movie such as Kimi No Na Ha the quality matters, no doubt. -Additional audio tracks and subtitle tracks. For example tracks where you can toggle honorifics and localization on/off. Or for example you have multiple language tracks. I like to watch ghibli movies with my little sister, but our native language is not english and she is not old enough to read subtitles comfortably. No problem, on my release I simple turn off subtitles and switch to the German audio track. Also, surround sound. -If the subtitles don't suit you, you can simply download new ones from opensubtitles.org that fit better. -Greater selection, you can also find stuff such as japanese tv shows and also porn. -It's simpler. Once you downloaded it it's a plain file. Especially with releases like rightshiftby (toaster friendly anime) or deadfish you don't need any good hardware for playback. You can watch it on your playstation, on your laptop, on your phone, wherever. You could even watch on a Raspberry pi. I doubt a full web browser with an ambedded player showing a movie without hardware acceleration could work an a very low end device like a raspberry. Assuming the website even offers HTML5 and doesn't require flash. -If your internet connection is slow, downloads are more suited because you can leave it downloading while you are not at home, or while you are asleep and then watch when it's time. Some streaming sites have this in-player restriction where they don't let the video buffer much further than what you have seen of the video to safe bandwidth. Because of this someone with a poor internet connection would experience playback interruption. You don't need to endure huge file sizes when downloading, after all sites such as horriblesubs still exist. -You get all the benefits of using a "real" media player. You can add filters, change renderers (hardware acceleration), lower cpu usage, more settings (gamma, volume, speed,..), can modify the player. Especially the filters are more important than you might think at first; you use them even if you aren't aware of it for example when watching something in fullscreen mode. Someone here once posted a comparison screenshot of filters he used on a DVD release of gunslinger girl. The image looked way sharper, but not in a distracting or odd manner. Sadly I can't find the image anymore since the site got purged. If you really don't want to hoard you can simply delete the show after you have watched it. If your internet connection is soykaf or you don't want to wait, you can simply open the torrent properties and put the episode you want to see on HIGH priority. My internet connection is slow (10mbit/s,) but even I don't have to wait more than what feels like 10 minutes for a 250mb episode.

What's the fuss about streaming vs download, just do whatever you want. For me streaming works quite well for anime, i just leave it loading while i'm making some food and then i watch it afterwards. Downloading the whole show before watching is madness for me, often times i won't even like the show to watch the whole thing. Just do whatever works, obviously downloads will have a higher quality of audio and video. But if that keeps you away from your shows, why bother.
Technician · 2017-05-10 16:16
>>310 Then you can open the torrent properties and untick all files except for the episode you want to see.
Mitnick · 2017-05-10 16:20
>>311 I know, Lain. But it's often not that simple, either the anime i want with the quality i want isn't easily avaiable, or my internet isn't good enough to download the files until i'm finished with preparing food. It just doesn't work as well for my specific scenario, which leads me to not watch anime unless i use streaming services.
Sipho Nkosi · 2017-05-13 02:22
>>309 Okay but listen, I watch anime on my phone usually before I go to bed. Not only that, I don't know what im gonna watch when I sit down and open up my phone. Il have a lot of anime in my head I think I might want to watch but I just pick one and start there. I only watch it once, once ive seen it I dont care to see it again its not like music to me. If I were to torrent -even if i deleted them after i watched them, during the time im watching the show a massive amount of my phones space would be taken up. And having my storage fluctuate by that much om a phone is pretty terrible because it means il have to constantly be deleting apps to make space, fuarrrking around with my phones soykaf file explorer etc. -okay but even if I was on a laptop with a good amount of storage if I dont plan on watching it again that should be reason enough to not torrent. Like that should be end discussion, if you want a copy torrent if yoy dont stream. Unless the quality of the stream is that soykafty, but 720p and up you arent going to miss anything that someone who torrented didnt miss. And you arent going to watch it again your deleting it, so having it in its most prime condition is meaningless. Just like how even though spotify might not have as pristine audio quality as a 1gb flac, if im just listening to an album to hear it once and i dont even know if im gonna like it im not gonna download the whole fuarrrking thing. Do you know how much music id have to download and how much time would be wasted if every time I wanted to hear an album I had to download it to my computer? And then theres those albums I dont actually want but I come back to every year or so just to listen once, so I stream them because even if spotify or wherever got shut down I wouldnt miss them much. This is amplified with anime where I might drop the thing after the first episode or halfway through, and frequently do. -And then take into consideration the fact that I dont know what I wanna watch ahead of time, and its usually the last thing I do in a day. That means im all cozy, probably almost a bit sleepy and if I have to wait for an entire fuarrrking torrent to download I may just decide to knock out instead. And if I decide I want to watch something else gotta do that soykaf all over again, and I probably will. Usually my process of selecting anime involves watching whatever came to mind in my mental backlog and if im not feeling it il choose something else. Now I may sound like some special case but I know an enormous amount of people, probably many you would call normal people, are the exact same way. They load up their crunchyroll app or whatever on their phone before bed or when they are chilling on their couch and dont have any idea what they want to watch yet. The whole oh just torrent wait and delete already provides more inconvenience then the audio and visual quality being lesser to most of these people including myself. Yes I understand torrenting waiting and deleting even on a slow connection is maybe just a 10 to 20 minute process, but the visual and audio quality of streams also isnt really doing much to ruin my experience, i still am watching and hearing the exact same anime. It might ever so slightly ruin my immersion or whatever the fuarrrk, but probably not any more so then wasting the time repeatedly downloading and deleting things that I may not even like.

It's been out forever. If you want, OP, I can upload it to a DDL location somewhere or upload it to a certain tracker of a certain god we may or may not love. Also, it's up on IRC via XDCC if you ask in the main channel for the details.

>>321 there is an upscaled 1080p version going around that has a watermark, but I think I'll wait for the bluray release.

>>310 >>319 That's fine if it works for you but don't even try to argue about it. It's objectively inferior and you know it. No one is attacking you personally so there is no need for you to defend your personal habits. Just don't act like your way is better, because it isn't.
Agent Smith · 2017-05-13 23:22
>>330 This one isn't upscaled, but it is a 720p screener with some hardcoded text at the top.
Tyrell Wellick · 2017-05-14 00:29
>>332 The question isn't about quality, of course it's objectively better. Just like FLAC is an objectively better audio format, but hey, maybe you don't care enough and 320kbp is pretty neat too.

Pff, this whole discussion made me a bit sick, everyone only seem to be trying to prove their point as being the one and only correct among the others. Anyway, since i've already interjected, i'll share my method of dealing with anime: First things first, if 'm gonna watch a new anime i don't know yet, whether or not it will match my taste, so downloading the whole thing ahead of time is just a plain stupid move. Instead, i just watch the pilot episode online. First, maybe first two episodes watched online are my decision point, whetther or not to download the whole series, since if i did like it, i want to enjoy it in to the fullest, with best possible quality, and preferably all extras added (OST too, if it happens to be good, and something i'm going to listen to frequently). I also tend to archive everything i appreciate, no matter if we're talking about software, music, anime or whatever else, and i don't want to keep a copy of inferior quality for archival purposes. That's it. As for places to go... AnimeTosho is nice and has full backup of Nyaa's torrents. Also Coalgirls. Pretty sad that BakaBT went private tho...
Joe Bloggs · 2017-05-14 11:03
>>332 I feel like you didnt even read my post which is understandeable cause its long as fuarrrk. I know the quality is better, but your acting like im forcing something when its usually the opposite. Every person I know who torrents instantly busts out with the insults and why dont you just torrent bro when you say you stream. And then every explanatiom you give theyl shoot down and provide a workaround until their idea of how you should go about watching your anime is far more inconvenient than the inconvenience brought from a difference in quality (unless the only streams available are truly soykaf and sub 720p). So I was giving you a scenario, not "my specific scenario" but a very COMMON scenario that i share as to why a lot of people dont torrent everything they watch. Not trying to make a point about why streaming was better or justify my actions, but why streaming presents itself as a better option for some people. It was supposed to be some insight maybe for people who do go all agressive with the laughs and soykaf when people say they stream, not an attack.
Emmanuel · 2017-05-14 11:07
>>393 oh and also if you think "no soykaf you dont need to explain this to me", id like to point out theres a post in this thread which assumes every person who streams is technologically illiterate, doesnt have enough space, or doesnt care about quality. To a degree the last is true but only about as true as someone might not care about quality when searching an album they havent listened to yet and arent sure if they are going to like on youtube before torrenting/buying it.
J.C. Denton · 2017-05-15 21:18
>>335 Yeah I also watch the first episode or two from a stream and then download a good torrent only if I like it. Btw, public nyaa alternatives have popped up in the past couple of weeks. Specifically, nyaa.pantsu.cat is made by people from 4chan and nyaa.si is from some old nyaa.se stuff and HorribleSubs people. There's a lot of politics behind choosing one or the other, but ultimately they're both alright.
Neuromancer · 2017-05-18 08:01
>>319 It literally takes a day or a half on a 2g internet connection for me. I'm already paying 70 per month for 5 gb 4 g and the rest 2g. I can't stream because it eats up the data like crazy unless it is 140p and using FOSS web framworks. I rather waste the data on browsing wikipedia and grabing iso images and looking up instuctions on the fast internet connection or I will feel really guilty of wasting all of my data on some stupid torrent that I just watch for one hour. Ebooks tend to last a much longer time for what it is worth.
Dozer · 2017-05-18 11:55
>>467 Uh I dont know what to say. It doesnt seem like streaming or torrenting is good for you? Not quite sure why you replied to that post. I know the feel though I guess. Used to be on really soykaf sattelite internet, and that was when it was better. Before that dial up. Sattelite internet was fast enough to stream and torrent and soykaf but with a 15gn data limit for a whole hundred plus fuarrrking dollars for a subpar connection was some bullsoykaf. People out in areas without cable get ripped off hard.

Bumping this thread for latest updates on the state of anime torrent sites, since I haven't been following anything related for a few months. What are the places to currently? I'm not really interested in private trackers, and among those i always knew and liked (BakaBT, Nyaa.se, AnimeTosho, TokyoTosho, Rutracker) one went private, and other is down.
