Did you guys watch the new Blade Runner 2049 trailer? It looks schway as fuarrrk if you ask me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCcx85zbxz4 Pic kinda unrelated, i think? Also unrelated, but, does anybody else hate that new movie trailers usually have these like little TL;DR before starting the actual trailer? Man I hate it.

>I always told you: you're special >you're special . . . >change the protagonist to a younger men >recording with digital cameras and not analog Vision3 master race all those cliches to get into a deictic shift and sell more. I hope I'm wrong, but what we'll see is exactly the same with GITS: more action and hollywood bullsoykaf, less philosophy and deep thoughts. >will Ridley Scott tell us if Rick is an replicant or not?
Netrunner · 2017-05-08 20:06
>>323 >change the protagonist to a younger men Deckard Jr. looks more mature and pathetic when he's all dirtied up. The dirt saves his look for me.
Pessimist · 2017-05-08 20:25
It's visually appealing but I can't expect something else than a standard fast food movie. Way too much action for my taste. Also the Harrison Ford appearance screams fan service to me. So yeah, I don't hold my breath for this one.
Nguoi La · 2017-05-08 21:10
Trailers only spoil the movie.
Terzibashjian · 2017-05-08 21:14
BAAHHHHHHHHH BAAHHHHHHHHH DUN DUN, DUN DUN I dislike it already and I'm only 5 seconds in
Jane Doe · 2017-05-09 00:38
Nice visuals, very nice visuals imo. But it's the typical hollywood recipe, the dialogues are empty hollywood soykaf, and it has the obligatory explosions and action scenes. It is also some dumb sequel to the original story. I will certainly not watch it, and I wish they'd stop making movies, they're just ruining everything that's good in this world.
Fred Nurk · 2017-05-09 01:52
I liked it. Trailers always have to be made in a certain way to appeal to as broad as audience as possible. I will certainly watch the movie.
Joey · 2017-05-09 20:38
I feel like a bit of an outsider on this site to be honest since I love the "feel" of cyberpunk and the ideas are cool but I don't really "get" a lot of the "must watch" media. Maybe I'm just dumb. I didn't really enjoy Blade Runner, Ghost in the Shell or even Serial Experiements Lain (I found it dull and confusing, so sorry).
Sabo Engle · 2017-05-09 21:53
>>288 A lot of cyberpeeps don't like Blade Runner. Make sure you watch any version besides the theatrical cut which is the only one with that patronizing detective movie voiceover. Failing that, try the novel at least. If by Ghost in the Shell you mean the 90's anime, I don't care for it either. The manga and 52 episode TV series are where it's at.
Marly Krushkhova · 2017-05-09 23:20
>>288 I don't really think it's a question of being dumb. I didn't really get SEL either, but that doesn't matter at all. I still enjoyed it for what I saw, even if I didn't find anything beneath that.
BloodCat · 2017-05-10 02:13
>>288 You're not alone - I found all the things you mentioned to be visually appealing but most of it was lost on me until I came back to it years later. I personally would recommend reading "Snow Crash" and "Cryptonomicon" by Neal Stephenson, they're both a lot of fun to read. "Futuristic Guns and Fancy Suits" is also fun.
Emmanuel · 2017-05-10 09:21
>>288 >>289 > If by Ghost in the Shell you mean the 90's anime, I don't care for it either. The manga and 52 episode TV series are where it's at. This. The new GiTS TV anime and Hollywood's liveaction are soykaf too. Watch the long TV series. Read the manga. SEL needs a very special state of mind to enjoy. For instance, try rewatching it the next time you start depressing over the direction the www seems to go. You will love Lain. (Like Project Xanadu was an attempt to have an persistent web with linking and copyright done right. Something even the all-hyped IPFS still won't be able do.)

>>298 >>289 You people make me feel like a fuarrrking weirdo. I love everything GitS related, with the only exception being the horrible Stand Alone Complex PSP game
Anamika · 2017-05-19 23:27
Im pretty sure it is in the extras of The Final Cut where Ridley says that Deckard is a replicant. **The dream origami unicorn** It that case, how is Deckard back in this movie, given the life-span? I suppose it will be revealed but this is an important point seeing as Scott made such a big deal about it and his Director's Cut.
Cutter · 2017-05-23 03:55
Uuuuughhhhh. They're going to do away with everything that made the original film great. Personal identity, morality concerning genetic engineering, what it means to "be human," full corporatocracy and its implications, free will, man-nature relationship, commodification of nature, etc. ? Naahhh basic Hollywood loner badass, mentor, big bad, love interest eckploshuns soykaf. Jesus christ cyberpunk is taking a beating this year with this and the GitS... "thing." I don't know which one I'm more offended about. GitS probably.
Sabo Engle · 2017-05-23 14:51
I'm still kinda mad the original story has been boiled down to cylon esque "Is he a replicant or nooooot" on repeat. fuarrrk ridley scott.
Zhora · 2017-05-23 15:30
>>481 The four year lifespan was applied to the Nexus 6 to prevent them from gaining human emotions. It's not inherent to being a replicant. Deckard is probably already older than that considering he was able to have a career as a blade runner, retire for a while and be forced back into service. >>506 At least he can say he did it before it was cool. Where else do you think BSG 2.0 got the idea from?
Neo · 2017-05-23 15:35
>>509 I think the suggestion was that his entire career was a false memory. Possibly Holden's memories, Holden and Deckard have the same mannerisms.
Neuromancer · 2017-05-23 15:42
>>510 Hm.. I think I've heard that idea before. It makes sense I suppose. I've actually avoided the official commentaries and interviews but one thing I like about Blade Runner is that the speculation is endless.
Bob Arctor · 2017-08-25 19:36
>>288 >I love the "feel" of cyberpunk >Serial Experiments Lain is dull and confusing Yes, you are an outsider. Lurk more before posting again.
Ivan Petrov · 2017-08-25 20:06
>>302 I liked the first movie when I saw it. It's just that after seeing the TV series it seems kind of dull now. The sequel was pretty as eye candy but as a story, pointless. I didn't bother with the live action one or finish that four part OVA they made a few years ago (no one seems to like that).
Demeere · 2017-08-26 05:24
>>298 >copyright done right Wow, you triggered me. Copyright can't be enforced for ordinary consumers without pervasive surveillance. Digital Restrictions Management doesn't work.
Neuromancer · 2017-08-29 18:33
>>327 Why the hell every modern movie must have those audio distortions with slow motion? Specially on trailers, godjammit. I feels like almost every trailer nowadays have the same pace: Fade in, voice over, audio distortion, action scene, fade out, audio distortion, voice over and title.
chart-a · 2017-10-04 22:00
Movie is out, time to up this soykaf. What did you think ? Just coming back from it, don't have much to say yet beyond fricking amazing.
pengu the tardigrade · 2017-10-05 06:52
>>288 Probably, the only reason you don't get SEL is because you lacking the understanding of SEL culture. Watch it again and be entertained.
Haruyoshi · 2017-10-19 14:58
All in all the film was pretty good. A lot of the early comments on here were dead wrong. They remained loyal the original, keeping the story (whatever there is of it) secondary, focusing on the atmosphere and individuals. That Elvis scene is great. However It does drag on a bit too much and the nods to the original feel like clumsy filler to remind us that we're watching a sequel. Too bad Harrison Ford can't act properly
