Few questions for visitors

Sipho Nkosi · 2018-01-12 22:52
Im doing a small field research, how many of you do something comic/manga related, drawing wise. If so, tell me, is it digital or you draw on paper? Black and white or colour? Only comics or also art? What topics interest you? If you had occasion, would you do an avant-garde obscure comics/arts(glitch art included) for a zine? If so, what's your experience so far? How long do you draw, do you actually have any accomplishments, are popular? or you're an unknown? IF YOU ARE NOT A DRAWING PERSON Would you read a zine made by amateurs that focuses on avant-garde comics and art?

>>1640 I should add it can also be photography, maybe you can suggest something yourself, im rly just gathering info at this point
Haruyoshi · 2018-01-12 23:04
>Would you read a zine made by amateurs that focuses on avant-garde comics and art? Yeah if it were any good.
Ivan Petrov · 2018-01-13 01:07

>Would you read a zine made by amateurs that focuses on avant-garde comics and art? fuarrrk yeah. I read a soykafload of random stuff to pass time.
Nanashi No Gombe · 2018-01-13 19:48
>>1640 >Black and white or colour? b&w because color is too time consuming >Only comics or also art? Art and comics >What topics interest you? Dunno how to answer, what topic do I like to talk about in my comics or what do I like to read about? >If you had occasion, would you do an avant-garde obscure comics/arts(glitch art included) for a zine? Been there doe that >If so, what's your experience so far? How long do you draw, do you actually have any accomplishments, are popular? or you're an unknown? I have a published zine and i will have an exhibition later this year
Cutter · 2018-01-13 20:38
>>1646 thanks for the answer, >I have a published zine and i will have an exhibition later this year >Been there doe that That's cool, could i see that zine? do you have any tips for me? >Dunno how to answer, what topic do I like to talk about in my comics or what do I like to read about? Yeah, your comics, but you can tell me both rly. Because i want the zine to be focused on themes like weird fiction, dystopia, cyberpunk, nihilism, philosophical pessimism, horror, nature, computers, dark humour, retro, 80s/90s If there's something you don't want to share publicly, you can send me email.

I'm also having a conversation on sushichan about the zine, https://sushigirl.us/lounge/res/2822.html Anyway, I'm still, obviously, working on it. But here's a first page WIP, working title is Black Fog Zine. I hope it gives you some idea and maybe encourage to publish something within this zine.
Drifter · 2018-01-15 17:17
I use pencil outlines and some simple inking. The rest of the process is done digitally with a drawing tablet. I really like old ink pens the ones that you dip in ink. Especially for cross hatching and fine line work. Some times it's a bit in reverse. Print out the comic panels on proper paper, ink it, scan it, then finish with digital drawing.

>>1647 Sadly I can't help you with the your zine. My sister got me in contact with some hipster friends of her that made and distributed zines, I just xeroxed some copies of my zine and they distributed them, I honestly have no idea on how to put a zine in circulation beside making it xerox friendly. And I can't post my comic, it not on my hard drive right now. My comics are mostly realistic dealing with day to day life, its discontents and anxieties.

>>1655 I see, it's fine, for the past few days I'm learning alot, I'm using scribus. Good luck with the exhibition :3
Hououin Kyouma · 2018-01-15 20:07
>>1653 Nice, i also do mostly pencil sketch then ink, but i don't have tablet so all i do on the computer afterwards is some cleaning and adding tones if needed etc. I adore working with nibs and ink. Anyway, if you're interested, and anyone else, check out https://github.com/mtk538/Zine for info
Dr. X · 2018-01-17 05:12
>>1656 Thank you so much, maybe in the future I be able to contribute
mtk · 2018-01-29 19:04
Quick update, except for comics, we're doing actually ok, got some photography and glitch art submissions, possible comic strip and a written short story. If you're interested to submit something, visit https://mtk538.neocities.org/zine.html . I update it frequently, so you always know what we still need, and what we're full on.

>>1640 >Black and white or colour? I do mostly black and white (and greyscale) because I suck at coloring >Only comics or also art? Art and comics (but I haven't done any comics for really long time and I never took them seriously so I never finished them) >What topics interest you? I really like dystopian cyberpunk with that weird retro, 90s like look, also I really dig anything philosophical, psychological and psychedelic >If you had occasion, would you do an avant-garde obscure comics/arts(glitch art included) for a zine? Yeah sure (or I could try at least) >If so, what's your experience so far? How long do you draw, do you actually have any accomplishments, are popular? or you're an unknown? I've been always drawing something but I've started taking it more seriously about two years ago. I have no experience with zines at all and I also put only few of my works on the web so I'm completely unknown Anyway I suck at writing stories but I'll try my best. As soon as I get the first page done I'll send it to you with details.
mtk · 2018-01-29 21:30
>>1704 Alright, feel free to send it
Lynx · 2018-05-13 17:43
>>1647 If you would make a zine with those topics, i would rly love that
Jean Dupont · 2018-07-28 20:14

>>1640 >Would you read a zine made by amateurs that focuses on avant-garde comics and art? What do you think I'm in some sort of cyber anime hipster cult? Of course I'd read it.
mtk · 2018-08-10 16:43
First issue of the zine is out, and you can download it at https://blackfogzine.org/ Enjoy :3

>>2520 >tfw lainchan zine gets crushed by sushi
Donna Hawthorne · 2018-08-11 12:52
You list Arisuchan as a "friendly site" and not Lain? Why come begging here if so partisan?
Nanashi No Gombe · 2018-08-11 17:49
>>2522 just forgot
Cowboy · 2018-08-11 18:07
>>2522 Just a suggestion... participating in interchan conflict and drama is a large waste of time and energy. Try and relax.
Judge Fang · 2018-08-11 20:01
>>2522 In the editors note it says that the zine started from a post on lainchan (this exact thread I guess)... I think it's pretty safe to say that there is no chan vs. chan action going on here. >>2524 >interchan conflict I think I found my new favorite pair of words, lol.
mtk · 2018-08-12 16:42
>>2525 yeah, both communities were very helpful, we have contributors from both chans. This thread is special, because its very first. But in a quest for more content i visit plenty more low pop places
mtk · 2018-11-16 11:22

>>2801 You can use my comic from this thread: https://lainchan.org/vis/res/1783.html But I'm not sure that you are going to like it. :P
mtk · 2018-11-16 12:39
>>2802 no politics, as stated. But i like your drawing style.
Zero Cool · 2018-11-16 13:17
my issue with zines is that its on screen. I can't get my attention to stick to it. I sometimes print them out to slowread them in a place I like to be. But I have a soykafty printer. I'd pay a few euros for a decent print of an interesting zine.
Koichiro · 2018-11-28 13:21
>>2803 I have an idea for a story about a blind hacker trying to take down a big tech corporation, but I don't know if I can find the time to finish it.

>>2849 you don't see the irony in a blind man fighting surveillance?
