alternative frontends thread working nitter instances - https://status.d420.de/ invidious instances - https://docs.invidious.io/instances/(USER WAS WARNED FOR THIS POST, You should always elaborate on your opinions rather than just spilling the soykaf.)

For people who happen to still use Beatport, avoid going on their godawful website. For some reason, it has now become a resource-heavy piece of soykaf. I recommend that you use https://crates.co instead. It's a great UI frontend, provides great search results, and is light on resources.

Lingva front end to Google translate https://lingva.ml/ https://github.com/TheDavidDelta/lingva-translate Front end translation. Not sure why their website shutdown. Different instances have different services. All have Google, some have Reverso, DeepL, LibreTranslate, iCIBA. Being self hosted sometimes some of the instances are down and DeepL sometimes fails to translate. https://archive.is/pOjaI Yotter is a front for Twitter and YouTube https://github.com/ytorg/yotter Bibliogram instagram front https://bibliogram.art/ (page seems to be dead actually all instances are dead or broken i think the project isnt maintained) https://sr.ht/~cadence/bibliogram/ Teddit front end to Reddit https://libreselfhosted.com/project/teddit/ (i dont think this is their official list of isntances it was just what i ran into) https://codeberg.org/teddit/teddit Another front end to reddit LibreReddit https://libredd.it/ https://github.com/spikecodes/libreddit Desktop YouTube front end FreeTube https://freetubeapp.io/ https://github.com/FreeTubeApp/FreeTube Piped another YouTube front end https://piped.kavin.rocks/ https://github.com/TeamPiped/Piped Wikiless is a Wikipedia front end https://wikiless.org/ (seems their https page is broken atm) https://github.com/Nangjing/wikiless Scribe is a Medium front end https://scribe.rip/ https://sr.ht/~edwardloveall/Scribe ProxiTok a TikTok front end https://github.com/pablouser1/ProxiTok There is a lot more but here is something to automatically redirect you to front ends. https://libredirect.github.io/

Now meta search engines DuckDuckGo Startpage (Just use the eu. address to stick to EU servers) SearX SearXNG Whoogle 4Get MetaGer (I like this one because it is backed by a non profit organization in Germany so this technically makes it more trustworthy than random hosts due to accountability. It has a .org address or English and a .de address for German) I may have forgot a few metasearch engines.

Low-effort thread is low-effort. >>77883 Yotter and Bibliogram are both unmaintained. And abandoned, from the looks of it. Bibliogram you can replace with Proxigram: https://codeberg.org/proxigram/proxigram although good luck getting RSS to function properly

Youtube-local is a hidden gem. I install it on all my devices. https://github.com/user234683/youtube-local

>>77883 Sorry. I made a mistake not to check some of the links. LibReddit site links to some Italian site that doesnt look even related to Reddit in any way. I was just trying to be helpful and gathering sources for others to use not using all these myself. >>77891 Yeah I got the impression they were not maintained. Thanks for pointing it out though.
Lunch · 2024-06-06 05:00
>>77893 Thanks for the recommandation, it is really good. I'm seeing some issues though: - No simple way to use an external video player - No simple way to download videos (separate video, audio and subtitle streams) - The subtitle download link is to a formated html page, rather than the raw webvtt file - The interface is pretty bad (video lists are on a single column, checkboxes take a lot of space while being useless most of the time, links in channel descriptions aren't clickable, multiple clicks are necessary to see subscriptions/playlists/settings). Still much better than modern youtube, but pretty lacking compared to invidious.

What's a recommended way of getting firefox to automatically redirect all links to youtube/reddit/twitter to an invidious/teddit/nitter instance? I've found the extension URL Replace (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/url_replace/), but I don't know whether it's safe
Joe Bloggs · 2024-06-07 08:31
>working nitter instances Oh cool. I thought the instances were near unusable nowadays. are limits still a thing? >>77935 I know there's https://libredirect.github.io/ that you can check out. It has a good chunk of redirects alternatively, you can add some uBlock rules/filters to automatically change a URL to an alternative frontend of your choice.

>>77891 I don't generally need to use instagram, but someone recently sent me a link to a gallery on proxigram. It surprised me that it seems to work very well. Doesn't instagram normally require an account? It's surprising that the instances don't get derezzed, like what happened with nitter.

It's seems nitter is dead for good. Is there any way left to read twitter posts without an account? And why are people still reporting stuff exclusively on twitter when it isn't publicly readable? Use mastodon, reddit or anything else ffs

Tangentially related, Stylus (https://add0n.com/stylus.html) is awesome. It's basically a more convenient way of editing userContent.css, with light/dark mode management. So many sites are barely readable (including lainchan, what's the deal with the gray on gray text?), that I end up making custom stylesheets for most of the sites I visit regularly. And here are my stylesheets for lainchan: css /* Light mode for lainchan */ html { --bg-color: #fff; --bg-color-alt: #eee; --fg-color: #000; } body { color: var(--fg-color); background-color: var(--bg-color); } div.boardlist:not(.bottom) { background-color: var(--bg-color-alt); } .theme-catalog div.thread, div.post.reply { background-color: var(--bg-color-alt); border-color: #AAA; } .intro span.subject { color: #263; } a:link, a:visited, .intro a.email span.name, div.post.reply div.body a:link, div.post.reply div.body a:visited { color: #008; } div.banner a:hover, a:hover, a:link:hover, .intro a.email span.name, div.post.reply div.body a:link:hover { color: #55a; } div.title, h1, .intro span.name, div.ban h2 { color: #1A5; } .quote { color: #8A0; } input[type="text"], input[type="submit"], input[type="password"], textarea, select, form table tr th { color: var(--fg-color); background: var(--bg-color-alt); } css /* Dark mode for lainchan */ html { --bg-color: #000; --bg-color-alt: #222; --fg-color: #fff; } body { color: var(--fg-color); background-color: var(--bg-color); } div.boardlist:not(.bottom) { background-color: var(--bg-color-alt); } .theme-catalog div.thread, div.post.reply { background-color: var(--bg-color-alt); border-color: #333; } .intro span.subject { color: #557766; } a:link, a:visited, .intro a.email span.name { color: #ccc; } div.title, h1, .intro span.name { color: #32DD72; } .quote { color: #B8D962; } input[type="text"], input[type="submit"], input[type="password"], textarea, select, form table tr th { color: var(--fg-color); background: var(--bg-color-alt); }
