Is there country or possibility to run out of ECHELON's range?

wikipedia makes it sound like its just a bunch of SIGINT for military intelligence interception.
Could be mistaken, but it sounds like it does not even affect most people unless you happen to have a bunch of specialized spoopy comms equipment used to broadcast highly secret information, not your normal cell phone or computer hardware (even though hypothetically they could monitor your cell phone, there are also fake cell towers that do the same thing and are probably much better at it than a spess satellite or whatever).
to be honest it seems like there are a lot worse things for your privacy than a SIGINT network for satellite and radio communication (like you know, the entire data marketing services of facebook and google).

Why would alphabets use fake cell towers to spy on you if there are real ones?

Occasionally they do spy on people in foreign countries.

Are we talking about mass or targeted surveillance here? You can spy on SS7 and cellular network without leaving your chair if you have certain connections in your local phone company.

Why run from Echelon when you can't even run from yourself?

This is a slower imageboard than you may be accustomed to. Don't bump your thread if it's not months old and you don't have anything to say beyond ''bump'', if you would.
